From the moment we walked in, the experience felt elevated and thoughtfully curated. The staff were incredibly professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The interior design was both luxurious and tasteful, creating a perfect ambiance for a special evening. I ordered the carbonara pasta, and it was absolutely delicious—creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The steak was, without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. Every detail, from the plating to the pacing of service, was impeccable. It’s definitely a high-end restaurant, but the quality justifies the price. This is the kind of place you come back to for celebrations or when you want to treat yourself. Even the desserts were on another level—artful, balanced, and indulgent. Truly one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

I had an incredible dining experience at The Vintage Chop House and Tavern. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and went above and beyond. They were extremely knowledgeable, kind, and attentive, which made our evening feel extra special.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. I had the beef short rib, and it was so tender that it literally melted in my mouth—definitely one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time! We were there celebrating a birthday, and the staff graciously treated us to a free dessert, which was a lovely touch. The dessert was not only a kind gesture but also tasted amazing. I also tried the key lime pavlova, and it was a unique twist on the classic, incredibly refreshing and delicious.

From start to finish, the entire experience was over-the-top amazing. I highly recommend The Vintage Chop House and Tavern for anyone looking to enjoy outstanding food, exceptional service, and an unforgettable dining experience.

Ordered a vintage salad, drink, prime ribeye (medium rare), and scalloped potatoes. Total $136.50 + $24.57 (tip).

The salad was a healthy portion and tasted good, dressing was evenly distributed and the bacon and croutons were of an appropriate amount. The steak was unfortunately a major disappointment, it tasted extremely burnt, every bite I could taste charcoal which ruined the entire meal for me. I hope this is not how they normally cook their steaks, it was very challenging to finish it. The cheddar scalloped potatoes could have used more seasoning, it was quite bland but was edible.

Service was good, but I would never come here again for steak. I tried to get the picture in the best possible light without disrupting others with flash, but even then I hope you can see how burnt that steak looks.

I’m visiting from Toronto and was craving a steak dinner. Vintage Chophouse and tavern exceeded my expectations. Wow wow wow!!! Service was top notch. They bring out the cuts of meats and show you what each cut is with an in-depth explanation. Our server, Chris was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We got the porterhouse to share which came with 2 very big sides. The crispy brussel sprouts were so good!!! We also got the slow cooked duck breast, which was delicious. The menu even lights up! What a clever feature. I highly recommend dinner here. Absolutely delicious!!! I want to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful dinner. Cheers!!

Our group of six from Ontario was served by Dean on a busy Saturday night. The menus light up when opened – like a refrigerator. Our table shared two cowboy rib steaks and a variety of sides including fingerling potatoes, mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, and root vegetables. A beautiful wine was paired with our meal and everything was exceptional. It was a little busy when we first got in, but by the time we ended, we felt that the fervor had died down a little bit and staff seemed able to chat.

Last year, I visited here for the first time to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and I was delighted by the outstanding quality of the steaks, excellent service, and pleasant atmosphere. The staff were helpful and welcoming, especially when explaining food ingredients and wine pairings. They enjoyed their steak and I had soup & salmon. Highly recommended!

I loved their service! Our server was very friendly and patient. They explained everything to us in detail.
The porterhouse steak was delicious and cooked to perfection.
The bone marrow butter felt like there was more butter than bone marrow though.
I didn’t like the sides too much, we got creamed corn and mushrooms. Those were perfect dishes on their own, but they didn’t compliment the steak.

Rodney’s Oyster House isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a full-on seafood adventure with a great sense of humor!

The atmosphere was relaxed and fun — full of personality and little surprises ⚓️ (yes, even the bathroom art made us laugh! ).
Our server Chris was a total legend — funny , attentive , and made us feel right at home .

We came during Happy Hour ⏰ and enjoyed oysters — fresh and tasty, though a bit small (but hey, the price was right! ).
The shrimp curry was absolutely mouthwatering — rich, flavorful, and perfectly spicy ️.
The tuna tartare was served in such a creative way — and the chips looked like something magical ✨ ️, handmade by forest fairies ‍♀️.
Only thing missing? A dark beer — that would’ve made it a perfect 10!

Would absolutely come back again
Great food , amazing staff ‍ , and a place full of charm and humor ❤️
Highly recommended!

What a great place. We’ve been there a few times over the years and have always enjoyed some fish and oyster dishes as the food has always been great. I love the fish & chips, always great. On another note, we had an important event to host about 80 people. We decided and booked the upstairs part of the restaurant called the Oar Loft Bar. The event was a great success and a huge thank you to Victoria and her team as not only was the venue great, but the food and really great service were outstanding. It was so good that I didn’t take more photos that would speak more of the event and show the food. So here are just a few venue photos. We appreciate this and many thanks. We’ll be back.

Nice place for an after hours drink. Huge place with high ceilings.
Ps – note to the manager, pls move the Ganesh (elephant God) idol from where you are serving the oysters. It’s most offensive to place the idol near where you shuck the oysters.

Great experience at Rodney’s Oyster House. The food was amazing. The calamari was so, so good!

We brought our own birthday cake, and our server and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make sure that it went smoothly.

Definitely will be going back again sooner than later.

A modern and comfortable seafood restaurant with good oysters! This is located on the corner in downtown and has a nice inviting interior, decorated with sea-themed decor. I highly recommend checking out their happy hour selections as regular prices are a bit high. But the oysters were nice and fresh, and they provided a good amount of sauces as well. Servers were friendly and there is no dedicated parking so street parking is required.

I recently visited Rodney’s Oyster House for the first time after hearing great things, and it did not disappoint. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lively yet relaxed vibe that made it easy to settle in. The food was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. Service was equally impressive: friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, especially when it came to recommending oysters and pairings.

Making a reservation was seamless, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. What added an extra layer of charm was learning about the fascinating history of the building and its location—something that gives the place even more character.

I highly recommend visiting Rodney’s to experience it for yourself. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

A wonderful anniversary dinner. We started in the lounge for a glass of wine and oysters. Service was prompt and cheerful. Moved into the dining room overlooking the lounge in a cozy library area with a full view of the restaurant. Justin was our server and did a great job with authentic service and recommendations. We loved all of the food, especially the table side tartare and Caesar salad. Great wine selections at all price points. Bravo!

My current go-to for a high-end steakhouse! Can get really busy and a bit too crowded but will come back for the food and service!

The oysters plus Massolino d’asti was the best and I still crave for it at times! Steak was perfectly cooked to our liking and our server made us feel taken care of and didn’t feel like he is rushing us!

I just wosh they have more vegan dessert options but other than that, it was perfect!

I chose this place to eat the best Canadian beef, and this restaurant served me the best in town. I ordered the caesar salad which was made on the spot next to the table. For dessert, I had the banana foster which is highly recommended. A waiter comes with the ingredients and explains every step he takes to make the beautiful dish.

Great seafood restaurant with excellent service. Loved the bison short ribs and especially the roasted potatoes. Other mains that we tried included the cod, walleye and salmon risotto. Everytime was good and the ingredients were fresh. They also gave a decent amount of fish with every main dish.

This morning we booked a reservation and the waiter knew as soon as we came in that it’s us even though it was our first time. Not only did they serve us with amazing good in a timely manner they are kind with their customer service. We ordered the scallop appi along with the cream of broccoli, salmon burger and some dessert. Everything was to our satisfaction but the dessert due to the fact it was half size was a bit disappointing. It was so good we wanted the full portion.

Went here to try their Oysters, non the less was amazing. Loved their sauces. I ordered 16 just for myself. 😉 the atmosphere was quiet and cozy, but probably cause I was sitting in a corner near the window i got pretty cold.

The pecan pie was good, but would be amazing if it was served warm on a warm plate. There was more pecan than filling so worth the price. Whipped cream on top taste like from the can, so it sort of dripped even in a cold environment but still yummy.

Would come here again!

Had an absolutely wonderful meal experience here. Ordered 3 appetizers, seafood chowder, steak bites and the scallops on top of the seafood pot au feu. Everything was excellent, well flavoured with the right amount of bread to dip in the sauces. Service was prompt with many smiles, so that added to the evening. Would definitely recommend and will return to try the open range side.

Like the other diners in the restaurant at that time, we ordered from the YYC Food & Drink Experience 2025 brunch menu. there seemed to a bit of inconsistency of the same brunch items coming out of the kitchen. We both had the Pistachio Raspberry Ricotta Whipped Ricotta Salata but only 1 was served with a raspberry?! We noticed the lack of raspberries for the other tables who ordered the starter too. I ordered the the Bison Short Rib bowl, our neighbouring table received a lot more potatoes and less bison in their Bison Short Rib bowl.

Overall the food was good but disappointingly inconsistent. The restaurant ambiance was welcoming and volume was low enough to have a conversation. Service was okay but I did notice a missed order on another table. There appeared to be two servers but they didn’t really work as a team and so individually they seemed hurried.

There were a lot of interesting items on the menu that I would go back to try.

The worst YYC experience we have had.
Knowing this is a local favorite, we had high hopes. Perhaps it was good, but like many other reviews suggested, the quality is no longer present.
The restaurant started on a bad note for us, when requesting to accommodate two extra friends 24 hours prior to our reservation, the host told us to come 30 min later at 1:30pm and we agreed. On the day of, we got a call around 1:20pm asking if we are still coming since the reservation is at 1pm…. Okay not a big deal, as long as the food is good right?

Well, at 45 bucks per person for a brunch, I certainly did not expect the souffle pancake to be cold and crumbly… You hear me right, crumbly, not fluffy at all, worst than Eggo in my opinion. The appetizer tasted alright, but nothing stands out, it was dry shelve-safe sweet potato chips with decent yogurt dip. The main was a disappointment tho. The omurice was really just fried rice with a side omelette, not the fluffy soft gooey Japanese style that one would expect. Even if you don’t expect the Japanese style, you expect the two to blend well, but it just felt like eggs with rice slapped together, something anyone could make. The bison bowl was way too sweet and lack texture, it was overall very meh. The unforgivable disaster was still the pancake tho… It was borderline disrespectful.

I had an amazing dining experience at Captain’s Boil, and I just had to share! From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch. What truly stood out was the attentiveness of the staff—especially Lynda, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. When I wasn’t too fond of my first drink, she didn’t hesitate to offer me a different one without any fuss. That kind of customer care is rare and definitely appreciated!

The food? Absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned—the kind of meal that leaves you planning your next visit before you’re even done eating. And for the quality and portion sizes, I found the prices to be quite reasonable, which made the experience even better.

All in all, Captain’s Boil delivered great food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming vibe. Big shoutout to Lynda for her outstanding hospitality—she truly made the visit memorable. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great seafood spot with amazing staff!

Visited Captain’s Boil Calgary North for the experience, and it didn’t disappoint! The seafood was fresh, well-seasoned, and served hot — perfect for seafood lovers. Over priced. Seafood is market price, the portion was determined by the restaurant without our consent. Fried rice was cold. Garlic was stick on the clam shell, sauce was oily. Deep fried shrimp and yum fries were hot. Corns were $3.75 for a small portion. The girl took three bags of food to us, no
explanation, she shook them at the table. Messy, clams were spilled on the fried rice.
She left without a word that the food was ready. It was an uncomfortable experience. Customers were ignored and not respected.

Dined at Captain’s Boil last night for the first time, our group was 5 adults and 3 children (we had a reservation – definitely recommend making one, it’s a busy place!).
The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, our server was fabulous (placed our kids orders with our drink order – 2 of the kids have allergies, and before we had a chance to mention it, they had brought it up and were very detailed with the options and risks). They offered fabulous advice on the menu and suggested options that would suit our group the best. We were throughly impressed with the entire experience and will definitely be making our way back!

Looking for a perfect date night spot? This seafood gem has it all! My wife and I went for dinner, and from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, making it easy to unwind and enjoy each other’s company.

We ordered the Mateys Boil with Captain seasoning at medium heat, plus a Captain’s Caesar for an extra treat. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were complex and perfectly spiced. Portions were just right for two, leaving us totally satisfied—and maybe a little stuffed!

The service made the night even better. Our server was quick, friendly, and clearly enjoyed their job. Toward the end, the owner, Mark, came by to check in, which was a nice personal touch. It’s clear he genuinely cares about his guests’ experiences.

If you’re in the mood for flavorful seafood and a welcoming setting, this place is a must-try. We’ll definitely be back!

This is our go to spot for a fun, spicy food night out. We love the mixed, captain’s seafood boil! My favourite cheat day spot to enjoy some amazing food with great company! Prices are pretty decent for the food you get too 🙂

We had an uncomfortable experience during our visit to Captain’s Boil in Calgary.

A new Korean male server was being trained by a female trainer who continuously criticized him in front of customers. At one point, the food he was carrying was so hot that his hand turned red — it looked painful, and we were genuinely concerned. Despite this, the trainer continued to scold him, which delayed service and created a tense atmosphere.

Later, the male server accidentally dropped food on our table. He looked extremely flustered and distressed. The female trainer whispered something to him, and we expected she would take appropriate action — but instead, she disappeared into the kitchen and never returned to any customer-facing areas.

We didn’t eat the dropped food. We spoke to the manager, who apologized and said they would make it up to us next time. Unfortunately, it was our last day in Calgary, so we had to leave without any real resolution.

What disappointed us most was that, despite being told by the manager to apologize, the female trainer never came to us. We later heard from someone else that she had asked the manager to pass on the apology instead. Her choice to avoid taking responsibility and face the situation was very unprofessional.

The new male server seemed to be doing his best under difficult circumstances and was not at fault. Unfortunately, the overall handling by the trainer and management left a very negative impression on what was supposed to be our final enjoyable day in Calgary.

This was our first time here and it was excellent. The sashimi is cut thick and the nigiri and oshi are amazing! Great presentation of everything. Friendly and helpful staff. A little noisy but you can still have a conversation. We’ll definitely be coming back.

The Sushi was very good. It was authentic Sushi. They didn’t overload the Sushi with sauces like other places need to. The fish was delicious on its own. Everything was displayed beautifully. The portions were a bit small and we left hungry.

My husband and I recently had dinner at this restaurant for Valentine’s Day! I remember this sushi joint at the farmers market before it became a restaurant. They’ve always had good and fresh sushi. However, I learned about it as a restaurant and wanted to try it again and see it was good as I remembered it, it was still very good however, I found it pricey!

Also, I always love trying the Spicy Salmon roll, every restaurant has such different ways to make it «spicy», I have a preference towards Japanese mayo and siracha. Big catch made theirs with crimson sauce which wasn’t bad just not spicy, it tasted closer to unagi sauce you get on eel rolls. We also had the Green Halo Oshi roll! It was fantastic! It was smoky and had beautiful flowers and petals sprinkled on the roll and lovely blends of spices I haven’t had on sushi before. Lastly we had the seared salmon nigiri, good and smoky!

Every server we encountered was great, water constantly refilled and attentive to our needs. We even received a free panna cotta for waiting a while for our food but we didn’t mind waiting.

The atmosphere is lovely!

The family had a craving for sushi and we were around the Chinook/Macleod Trail area so found this restaurant. It’s in a mixed use area of residential and commercial. There was plenty of parking. The place is not very big and we had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up before we were seated. The restaurant is very nicely decorated.

We ordered the Atlantic Salmon Sashimi, Albacore Tuna Sashimi, Saba Sashimi, Tropic Rush Roll, California Roll, Veggie Tempura, and House Green Salad. Everything was super fresh and tasted great. The family really enjoyed the meal.

The staff were friendly. There is a QR code that you get the menu and you can order off the site (create account) or let the staff know what you want to order. I think the restaurant is better for couples, friends, or business meetings. There was nothing wrong for our family but just the vibe and ambience I think caters to more intimate setting. Prices also were more expensive so bringing a family with big appetites could set you back. We had a great time and enjoyed the food.

Great spot for Halal steaks in Calgary. There are a broad variety of options on the menu to suit all palates, and the staff did a great job at making recommendations for us to try. There’s ample space for dining-in, and the food comes quickly to your table. Special mention to the sticky toffee pudding, which was the perfect dessert to cap off our meal. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!

The food is incredibly delicious, we tried their modern benchmarks (Flat Iron and Filet), and it was the best steak we had ever eaten. The team is very welcoming and the service is world class. Also they have very interesting and creative cocktails, we loved it, ask for recommendations from the staff, they are very genuine! The side dishes are also very tasty. We definitely recommend everyone to eat here if they come to Calgary!

We dined here for the YYC experience promotion and had a lovely time. The service was amazing and the food was absolutely phenomenal. We all really enjoyed our drinks, the wagyu dumplings, and the braised brisket on truffle gnocchi. Tanisha was an excellent, friendly server for us this evening.

We also really appreciate the handwritten birthday card, and the complimentary truffle butter popcorn.

But while I would love to give 5 stars, I can’t. I just noticed on the receipt that we were charged full price for our drinks when we ordered them all during happy hour. They should have been 50% off but that discount was not given so I’m feeling quite ripped off.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the photo I took of our drinks on our table with a timestamp of 1728, and happy hour ends at 1730, so I’m really not sure why we were charged full price.

We had the most amazing meal/time at Modern Steak. Our server Tanisha was fantastic. Super friendly and helpful. She really out did her self. The sommelier, Brendan was a joy. He was very knowledgeable and amiable. He really cared about us and our taste and recommended some great wines. We loved our visit to Modern Steak and can not wait to return. PS, they did change their Brussel sprouts, but they can and will happily make the more delicious original

I was really looking forward to trying Modern Steak, but unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming on many levels.

I ordered the beef tartare, which I always try at every restaurant I go to — and this one was a big letdown. It lacked finesse, balance, and flavor. The texture felt off, and overall it just didn’t taste fresh or thoughtfully prepared.

The steak was okay, but definitely not at the level they advertise. For a place that positions itself as a premium steakhouse, I expected better execution and presentation. The dish came with just a couple of garlic cloves — no sauce, no thoughtful garnish, nothing that showed care. It looked plain and unfinished on the plate.

Cocktails? Also disappointing. Expensive but forgettable, lacking the depth or creativity you’d expect from a place in this price range.

I’m not complaining about the price — I’m happy to pay for quality. But when a place charges a premium, I expect to see and taste what makes them special. Unfortunately, I didn’t.

To top it off, the interior and service were just not it. Our food arrived before we even had plates, knives, or forks. No attention to detail, no follow-through.

This felt like a place trying hard to be upscale — but falling short in every area that truly matters

Came in on a warm sunny Friday afternoon and ordered off their happy hour menu. Pineapple Mezcal Mule and steak and fries. Service was great during a busy happy hour and busy outdoor patio. Steak was ordered medium rare and came well-seasoned but a little more on the medium well side. Standard steak frites offering.

Everything here tastes spectacular and so fresh! The portion sizes are generous and even good for sharing. My favourite is the two piece haddock with fries and a half Caesar salad. The service is superb. We also do takeout, and it’s even better when you enjoy it at home love it

Very disappointed.
Ordered 2 Haddock meals and Calamari through Uber Eats.
Fish meals were supposed to have 2 pieces of fish but we received what looked like 2 different orders.
One order had 2 decent sizes of fish portions the other had 3 smaller pieces of fish.
Good portion of fries but they were extremely overcooked and what looked to be from the bottom of the fryer, small pieces of petrified potato.
Calamari was tasty but not crispy.
Disappointing.

Went in especially to try out the fish n chips going by the 5-Star reviews. We were pleased with the ambience but super underwhelmed by the Halibut n fries as well as the service – found it all overpriced. I prefer my halibut thick/chunky and cooked just right. My pieces came thin and chewy. The chowder was alright, so a star for that. We’ll be sticking to our local pub for our halibut fix.

Unfortunately, too full for dessert as I have heard they have a great key lime pie.

What ana amazing date location, not only was the food absolutely Incredible, so incredible we dined without snapping a pic of the appetizers we ordered (calamari and pork gyoza) but the tables were well mad rup all condiments (chili oil and spice mix) were full on every table the kitchen is open and after asking twice to be sure I grabbed a photo the menu does leave out certain things like the calamari I got was served with roe which just to my personal taste I don’t like but ate around. The staff was very attentive and checked in often the ramen bowls we got were incredible it’s my 3rd time trying proper ramen and I wasn’t disappointed especially by the pork belly perfectly fried and the soy eggs perfectly medium poached adding a nice umami flavour we will definitely be returning and doesn’t break the bank with appetizers ranging from $6 5-pork gyoza to $12 12pc-calamari and for regular soups around $12-$15 great price for the quality and quantity I want to thank the staff as I am allergic to crustaceans (only eating) ie shrimp crab but with what I dined on nothing seemingly had crustaceans and incase I passed the Naruto spirals to my girlfriend incase they contained shrimp paste but it also shows that the kitchen staff maintains cleanliness and prevention of cross contamination.

Thanks for the amazing food and experience!

This ramen spot used to be Muku but now it is owned by the same company next door called Globefish.

Was a big fan of muku for the awesome kurotan ramen so was a bit skeptical of what it would be with Globefish taking over.

Still tasty but I was still hungry after finishing my bowl and it cost 30% more thw
before. Not a big fan. The soup base was still tasty but they also no longer optional wontons… would I go back? Possibly. Would prefer to find another muku replacement who serves decent sizes servings.

Stopped in for an early lunch on a recent visit to Calgary. Tried some of their dim sum and other dishes. We had their siu mai, rice rolls with fried donut, chicken feet, beef tripe, chicken congee, salted fish and chicken fried rice, and beef chow fun. Everything was very good and tasty. 2 thumbs up. Service was also very good.

The food was on the pricey side, but the good service made up for it. Unfortunately, this time, the experience was very frustrating.

We ordered steamed lingcod ($38), steamed oysters, and a veggie dish. We discussed steamed shrimp rice, but I told my partner that we had shrimp the night before, so we didn’t order it.

The oysters were good, but then the problem arose: the server tabled the shrimp rice, which we didn’t order. Apparently, the server had heard me say the name of the dish and written it down, but we didn’t really order that! Who would order four dishes for two people? Did she even think of that?

When we insisted that we didn’t order the dish, she said, «Yeah, it’s fine!» (But her tone didn’t say that.) That made us feel bad.

We kept the dish as we didn’t want to waste it, but we ended up canceling the veggie dish instead, which made our meal very heavy without any veggies.

What annoyed me most was that the fish was overcooked and not as smooth as we expected. When we gave our feedback after the meal, we received the reply from the server, «Oh really?» It was a $38 dish and the main dish of the night, and the chef had screwed it up. We didn’t really ask for anything in return, but a sincere apology would be more acceptable.

I don’t think I’ll be coming back for a long while.

Super friendly hosts, servers and cooks. We reserved for a 25 people suprise birthday and they set up the tables so fancy that it elevated our experience. They provided everything we forgot to bring and were so joyous to be around. They also helped procure a large roasted pork for an extremely cheap price compared to others, the food was amazing and great portion sizes as they normally do. Our birthday celebrant was super happy and so were the rest of the family and friends. Thank you Golden Jade!

Went on a Sunday around noon and there wasn’t a wait. You mark your order on a sheet of paper and then they bring it out to you. Dim sum was delicious. Will definitely be coming back again. Service was good but heads up that you need to flag servers down if you need anything. But overall delicious and will come back again

I recently dined at Golden Jade Palace and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the food and service. The ginger beef was perfectly crispy with a delightful kick, and the black bean sauce beef was rich and flavorful—definitely dishes I’d recommend. While the restaurant was a bit crowded, it added to the lively atmosphere. Despite the busyness, the staff remained attentive and friendly. If you’re in the mood for tasty Chinese cuisine, Golden Jade Palace is worth a visit—just be prepared for a bustling environment!
