Customer Reviews
In the past it was a truly fascinating place for collectibles, food and interesting finds. Nowadays it’s mostly just a food market which is fine. Many shops are empty recently and the prices at most places are fairly high which I guess is somewhat expected.
Few really good spots like Burwood or one where various toys are sold and some others along the way. It’s just not what it was in the 2000’s or 2010’s. It evolved into mostly a produce spot I guess.
Jason Stettner (☆ 3/5)

Very interesting place packed full of vendors.
Loads of tiny booths in the back with a wide variety of products.
The produce booths all seem to carry the same things, but there are lots of them and decent quality.
There is plenty of parking, and the public is well behaved. (We didn’t have a bunch of crazy drivers trying for the same place)
It was fun to go check out.
J Roberts (☆ 4/5)

Decent little market with some food vendors, toy and anime vendors, and some other stuff. Bit of a flea market, much different feel than Calgary west farmers market.
Marta Borowska (☆ 4/5)

I LOVE the food court . Wow! There are so many choices. i don’t know where to start !! I walked around in circles so many times, trying to decide what I wanted for a snack. Everything looked so good, hot dogs to montreal bagels , perogies . Caribbean foods , Indian foods. Baked goods galore.
Local feel.. everyone seems to know each other . The only thing I don’t like is how crowded this place is.
I was a bit overwhelmed and uncomfortable. Lay out is very confusing but fun for that market feel!
You can buy lots of used stuff here or old vintage in the package still , collector items, ranging from card games of all sorts , hotwheels, horror figures, and hockey stuff.
I saw some aliexpress stuff for sale in some shops that was overpriced .
Overall Awesome place . Need more of these in the city .
Great place if you’re from out east and crave the old time feel .

Yusuke (☆ 5/5)

Best farmers market in the city! Once Summer is fully here, it will be alive with produce vendors!!
Lisa Merrett (☆ 5/5)

Amazing place to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables at very fair prices. Generally better pricing than most retail stores. Not to mention the small little knick knack shops that sell a variety of things from books, movies, jewelry, clothing, accessories, candy, dog treats, cafes and many more fun things. Worth checking out for sure!

Calgery Farm Market was pretty decent overall. They had a good selection of fresh fruits and local produce. There are also quite a few restaurants and food options nearby, which makes it a nice spot for a casual visit. It’s located about half an hour outside the city, so it’s not the most convenient unless you’re already in the area. If you’re a visitor, having a car is definitely necessary. The place was clean and well-maintained, with friendly staff. Not a must-see, but worth checking out if you’re passing through.
Eva Zia (☆ 4/5)

It is my first time to here. The indoor farmer market is very nice and good size, there are many tables to sit after you but something to eat. My favorite is Yum cakes, the macaroons are sweet and great! I also like the bagels shop. They can get fresh veggies and fruits, but the prices are not cheap. the quality of food is good. It is also a nice place to take kids for browsing together.the parking lot is big and free, spend a half day to visit here when the weather is bad outside.
Joy Liu (☆ 4/5)

I love this market, there’s Vegan foods and a Vegan bakery, they taste amazing. Petty I don’t live in Calgary, I even brought some Vegan croissants back to Sydney Australia with me. Can’t wait to visit again
Carole LoVegan Li Ⓥ (☆ 5/5)

Awesome indoor farmers market with some vegan spots like Healthy Choices and donuts at Phil & Sebastian. There is a kids indoor play area as well which is great for toddlers. There are some rules about entry but it’s free to enter. It can get quite busy.
Lots of fresh vegetables, some booths with honey, some rock vendors, there is a place that can make vegan cakes, and there is usually someone playing live music in the food court seating area.
Marta Borowska (☆ 5/5)

One of the best farmers market in Calgary ,with fresh produce (veggies, fruits, eggs, meat, fish, and cheese) and baked goods/pastries (croissants, loads of bread, cookies, brownies as well .
They usually also have music and entertainment to keep kids and parents entertained.
Too many highlights to name but I have enjoyed amazing Turkish , Italian food, Momo’s, fresh fruit juice, indian food. Highly recommended this place
Faisal Brone (☆ 5/5)

If you can’t decide what to eat or have a group with multiple needs, definitely visit here. So many food stalls and ample place to sit and eat. Local vendors and small franchises prepping fresh food in front of you. Great selection of grocery items as well. Prices might be a bit high, but come for the experience
Nipun Heendeni (☆ 5/5)

UPDATE: With the completion of the ring road, coming here is even easier!
We have been to the Calgary Farmer’s Market West a few times, including the opening day.
First off, the parking lot fills quick, but there’s a good enough turnover.
Inside is much more spacious and open than the original market. There is a nice play area for kids along with a center slate of seating for dining. The one side is mostly made out of food vendors with more options along the way. The other side has produced various meat vendors.
This location is much closer to use and opens later (7 p.m.), so popping in for dinner is a great option.

Simply the best group of people. Service is outstanding, product always fresh and thanks to you, my family is enjoying the eggs so much so that they notice the difference. Indeed real food taste good.
We are addicted to the apple chips as well!!! I encourage everyone to try. From farm fresh eggs, honey, apple chips, chicken, fresh fruits you can’t go wrong with DJ Farmers Market. Give them a try you will be glad you did.

Also such a friendly environment and support local businesses and people
Wendy Fayant (☆ 5/5)

I absolutely love this market and go out of my way to get here. DJ’s specializes in local growers and no pesticides. Exactly what I’m looking for for my family.
I love the prices too. Way better than the grocery store.
Also, it’s family run – Mychele and her husband (and daughters when out of school) are the real gems! So friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this market!
Coach Colette (☆ 5/5)

Outstanding quality fresh fruit and veggies – locally sourced by Canadian producers. This is not a slogan but a reality. DJ’s is so much better than trucked and warehouse stored product found at Costco or big grocers. The crew is always friendly and happy to answer questions. We are weekly customers who feel like family.
Jennifer L Mickle (☆ 5/5)

One of our favorite places to buy fresh produce! The selection is always excellent—fresh, well-stocked, and locally sourced when possible. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making every visit a pleasant experience. Highly recommend!

The market has operated since 1997. It is open every Sunday between 10 am and 2 pm, from the first Sunday of June until the first Sunday of October.

Well organized, nice variety, well spaced. I think there needs to be a couple of arrows on the floor as some people missed the one way sign at the entrance.
Sofi CB (☆ 4/5)

Nice open small market, few options
Worth a visit, because why not
Running Duck (☆ 5/5)

I like going to Hillhurst Sunnyside on Sunday, when I get the chance to go. The people who have their collection items to sell. What ever you like to collect you might find something to fill your own collection. The people are a friendly group, I’ve got to know a few of them, just to buy what I like. And when you are done looking around,go and I sit down, relax and I have a green tea and a pease of banana bread. They are open every Sunday at 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.This place is open only on Sundays. This is not a farmer’s market, they just have a cafeteria to sell, coffee, tea, burgers, puff wheat, just small goodies, this place is a community place. They set up their tables and sell their collectables.
David Nobis (☆ 5/5)

I love the Farmers Market for excellent produce every week. So many vendors to enjoy but we always pick up our YYC Growers box along with some fruit from Walker’s Own and veggies from Shirley’s Greenhouse. There are many more vendors we enjoy but these are our consistent stops who are always providing excellent quality produce with super friendly staff or volunteers.
Chris Siegle (☆ 5/5)

We have been attending the market weekly. The produce is delicious and flavor. Nice to support local growers. Love the mason jar flowers!!! Also excellent fresh eggs. The mushrooms deserve a special mention as they are the best from BC. The chanterelles from Saskatchewan are to die for!!!
Kim Hartley (☆ 5/5)

We stop by each week for the Mountainview Growers table! The farmer coop has ethical/regenerative/amazing yak, pork, chicken egg, duck egg, teas, spices, squash, carrots, beets, potatoes from a few places just an hour or so outside of Calgary.
James Sylvester (☆ 5/5)

We had a lovely time, picked up some much needed seedlings, including unique heritage variety tomatoes! I enjoyed the different offerings from the vendors, and am actually enjoying some of Broken Spirits’ spirits as J write this review

Customer Reviews
The place as a whole pretty neat a bunch of different options of vendors. Mostly Asian food and a fresh food market with frozen items as well. Bring your wallet because it’s not cheap… From a single Donut 3.50 to a bowl of Pho $19.. my wife enjoy the pho but $19 bucks? Lol I myself went with A Touch of India and well I was very disappointed… $10 for two Samosa and bottle of water and pop? The samosa tasted just like frozen one you can buy at Safeway lol… Save your time and money go to an actual restaurant.
Plus side the restroom was fairly clean. Oh and a huge red flag for the Touch of India is when the lady working there isn’t from India?

Fresh& Local Market is like taking a world tour .We tried so many different ethnic foods , the place feels like international street food stalls under one roof. From Pierogies to Mexican salsas pozole and Birria from Ruben’s kitchen ,Peruvian ,Korean,Japanese and much more… We love it !
Carl Dufresne (☆ 5/5)

What a great hidden gem in Calgary!! Saw a reel on Instagram and had to try it, and we were not disappointed. The only complaint I had was there were too many great choices to choose from!!!! A local «food court» with ma and pa stalls serving food from around the world. We will be back to try more stalls.
Reghan Walsh (☆ 5/5)

This market gets better and better as we go. The vendor population has risen and is diverse. We love the Mestizo! Every time we come here, we try something different and the plant selection is really nice too. There was a nice man (the manager?) making sure we were having a nice time and answering any questions we have. He was not dressed in uniform but was super caring so we assumed he worked there, if not, he was just very friendly!!
Jon Cole (☆ 5/5)

Fries are immaculate .
The burgers are also delicious. I got a few other things as well but forgot to take a picture. Lots of great spots to eat, but if you want a good burger, definitely give them a try because you won’t be disappointed.
Dakota (☆ 5/5)

I like going here there is such a great variety of foods. There are also vendors selling produce, flowers and a number of other items. There is always a lot of parking and I think that this is a great place to go if you want to try some different foods.
James Waurynchuk (☆ 4/5)

Since I discovered this place I go there every week. Amazing variety of vendors. I love how many different and unique food options they have in the food hall. Tried Veal Osso Bucco from Italia. Loved it. Best Veal I’ve tried in town. So tender. Get those dates balls from Miss P’s Gluten Free. They have a lot of gluten, dairy free and vegan dessert options ❤️❤️

Great local market with a wonderful selection of vendors! Live music and family friendly. The exhibits inside the building are cool too and there is a coffee shop!

Wonderful place. Gorgeous farm fresh produce of all kinds picked that morning. Great music, and there are even more vendors with unique and beautiful creations.
Ashleigh McNear (☆ 5/5)

Came here on a Saturday and it was super busy, they have a variety of stores inside with lots of food options. Prices are a little high for the food stalls but worth it when you know you’re supporting local. As for fresh produce thought the price was reasonable if not cheaper!

The new market at the Sunalta Community Centre is brilliant. I came away with armloads of beautiful produce, sourdough bread, and some amazing Thai curries and frozen dumplings. It’s an incredibly diverse, carefully curated assortment of prepared products and good-quality fruits, vegetables, meats, flours… a gem.
John Manzo (☆ 5/5)

A nice place to spend a hour or so. There are some interesting vendors. It’s very eclectic. Crafts, vegetables, and much more you. You can go inside as well where they have a very beautiful craft shop and artists Workshops. They also have live music outdoors

The Cspace farmer and makers market is a great addition to Marda Loop. There areawide variety of vendors, hot sauces, beer, honey, veggies and a few bakeries. One bakery was gluten free and appeared to have a cult like following and sold our before we could try anything. The day we visited they had great live music. A nice vibe. The only downside is you may have to park far away due to construction in the area.

Flew into Calgary from Toronto for a wedding. From the airport I beeline to Heart Choices to demolish their Khao Soi, and on the way back I detour to get their Lemongrass Chick’un Banh Mi for the trip home. Even my meat-loving boyfriend loved it.
I have tried endlessly to find similar quality and taste complexity in Toronto to no avail. Heart Choices truly is a destination in and of itself. Thank you for your dedication to serving DELICIOUS vegan food! Hope you consider expanding to Toronto 🙂
Laura Cooper (☆ 5/5)

Wow! Very impressed! I didn’t know vegan food could be this delicious! I got peanut satay bowl with vegetable «beef». I am not a vegan so I eat beef and I couldn’t tell the difference! The vegan beef tastes just like beef. The curry sauce was delicious . It felt like I ate a very delicious healthy meal.

The BEST Sandwich and it’s VEGAN.
I come here as often as I can and always get the Reuben Sandwich. I’m never disappointed, it is ALWAYS so good!
Friendly service, neat, organized kiosk and fast delivery.

This is the best meat alternative I’ve had. I live out of the city and will often drive to the Farmers’ Market just for Hearts Choices. Thank you!
Zay (☆ 5/5)

These people make AMAZING food, and they have incredibly kind hearts. Never leave unsatisfied when you visit Hearts Choices. My fav dishes are: greens & grains bowl, Tom Yum, and Nan’s Vermicelli Special. Oh drool!!

Great vegan store inside the Calgary Farmers Market. Very friendly staff. Free samples. And they supply the vegan meat to the Thai Sub restaurant in the Market. Always pick up a few items for the weekend. They are now carrying the beyond meat burgers and sausage (same as A & W)
Jim Rieder (☆ 5/5)

Everything here is so tasty. We’ve tried the vegan Reuben sandwich, ginger chickn wrap, the khao soi soup and peanut satay bowl. All are so good, we come back for more. Every once in a while, they also give out taste tester’s so you can try before you buy; there sauces is like a pop of flavour that go with so many things. Love Heart’s Choices, my number one go to place.

What is the point of having customer service number when someone pick up the phone and then hangs up on you??

I visited here today for the first time ever, my cousin brought me here. First off, wow what a place. The fruit was just so amazing, I grabbed some Asian pears and some Punjabi cookies ( they taste so delicious). It was a real neat experience shopping there and the staff were so helpful and cheerful. The place was neat and clean, everything was well marked out and easy to read. I am definitely going to return and shop here again, what a cool place. Definitely two really big thumbs up and I must say I am destined to become a regular shopper there and I live in the community of Montgomery.

Ismat Jerin (☆ 5/5)

Good deals and decent most of the time but the grumpy rude guy that sits high and mighty on his chair at the «customer service» counter, avoid him at all cost! Its like he doesn’t understand that customers may want to actually LOOK at the products they are buying before they buy them. Shouldnt matter what it is and especially if buying cases of product, I want to know if the case is completely rotten (which has happened before which is why we check now). To be honest staff in general are rude here but he is the best representation of worst in customer service.

Customer Reviews
I was searching for butter tarts like I used to get decades ago from Grandma’s Kitchen, and Pearson’s Berry Farm was the top listing in Google, so I decided to visit this location in the Crossroads Market. They have traditional butter tarts with raisins as well as other variations such as Saskatoon Berry, chocolate, and coconut. The crusts are made the old-fashioned way with lard, so you’ll have to practice some restraint if you’re watching your cholesterol. However, they do taste better than commercially produced butter tarts sold in supermarkets so I would recommend that you give this place to try.

we felt really bad making the owner and his wife wait for 30 minutes after closing because we were running late to pick up their pie , but they were very nice about it,and the pie was so good!!

Pearson’s Berry Farm offers absolutely amazing locally sourced products. I love that they have a wide selection of flavours, and products. Their cooking sauces are delicious, and so are their Saskatoon berry sodas and slushes. They’re also amazing at creating unique treats – like tiny pie crusts with pie filling that you scoop into it as a small yet delicious snack. Plus, they’re all very friendly. It has been cool to see them graduate from kiosk to store to bigger store in their Cross Iron location!

I find it a little expensive. The place was clean. Raspberries were suppose to be on sale. I was there when it opened. There was no Raspberries on sale. I talked to a lady she said she goes their every Saturday. She said they always do that.
It is a nice place though. This was my first time i was there. I will return.

What is the difference between a farmers’ market and a grocery store?
The key difference lies in the source of the products. Farmers’ markets primarily feature produce and goods directly from local farmers and producers. You're buying directly from the people who grew or made the items, whereas grocery stores source products from a wider range of suppliers, often not locally based. Farmers' markets offer a direct connection to the food system.
When do Calgary farmers' markets typically operate?
Market seasons generally run from late spring to early fall. Some markets have shorter seasons, while others extend their hours based on weather conditions and producer availability. Many markets start around May and continue until October, but it’s a good idea to check individual market websites for specific dates and hours.
What types of products can I expect to find?
Expect a diverse selection! You'll typically find fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, cheeses, baked goods, honey, flowers, and a variety of artisan goods. Many markets also feature prepared food vendors offering ready-to-eat meals and snacks. Some markets may have unique items depending on the individual vendors.
Are credit cards widely accepted at Calgary farmers’ markets?
While some vendors accept credit cards, it's not universally accepted. Many smaller vendors primarily operate on a cash-only basis. It's a good idea to bring cash to ensure you can make purchases from all vendors. Some markets now have systems where you can link a card to a market-specific account, but check market specifics.
How can I find a list of Calgary farmers’ markets and their locations?
Several online resources list Calgary farmers’ markets. City of Calgary websites, local news publications, and community calendars often provide comprehensive lists with addresses, dates, and hours of operation. You can also search online for "farmers markets Calgary" to find a variety of listings.
What are the benefits of shopping at a farmers’ market?
Shopping at farmers’ markets offers numerous benefits. You’re supporting local farmers and producers, accessing fresher, more seasonal produce, reducing your environmental impact (less transportation), and often learning about sustainable farming practices. It's also a great way to connect with your community and learn about where your food comes from.
Are there any rules or regulations I should be aware of when visiting a market?
Most markets have a few simple guidelines for shoppers. These might include respecting vendor spaces, keeping pets on leashes (if allowed), and disposing of waste properly. It’s always a good idea to be mindful of other shoppers and follow any signage or instructions provided by market organizers.
Can I bring my pets to the farmers’ market?
The policy on pets varies depending on the specific market. Some markets welcome well-behaved pets on leashes, while others prohibit them entirely. It’s important to check the market's website or contact organizers before bringing your furry friend.
What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
Farmers' markets can be excellent for those with dietary restrictions. Most vendors are happy to provide information about their products, including ingredients and allergens. It's always a good idea to ask questions and confirm that a product is suitable for your needs. Look for vendors specializing in gluten-free, dairy-free, or organic options.
How do I support farmers' markets beyond simply buying products?
You can support farmers’ markets in several ways! Spread the word to friends and family, follow markets on social media, and consider volunteering at events. Some markets also offer opportunities to donate or sponsor local initiatives that support farmers and producers.
