How do I even begin to explain all the reasons I would recommend Julianne Young Weddings? Simply put, Julianne and her team are absolute angels who blew our expectations out of the water.
I can honestly say that hiring Julianne as our planner was the best decision we could have made. We chose Julianne as our planner based on glowing reviews from our friends, who had a stunning and flawlessly executed wedding. From our first email and meeting with Julianne, we were so impressed. She is professional, warm, and organised. Julianne just *gets it,* ya know?
The planning of our wedding was complicated- we planned the wedding in only a few months from London UK, during the covid pandemic. The wedding was held at my grandparents’ cabin in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. The cabin is rustic, hard-to-find, and has literally no reception. In short, there was so much uncertainty and so many ways things could have gone wrong! But Julianne was by our side every step of the way; we never doubted she had everything under control. Julianne maintained a positive outlook while also being realistic with us about possible challenges related to the pandemic, our remote and rustic venue, and our budget.
Julianne, her team, and the vendors she selected executed an event that felt truly magical. When we arrived at the cabin on our wedding day and we saw how Julianne had brought the vision to life, I was truly speechless (and then burst into happy tears!). Julianne had brought to life dreams I didn’t even know I had! Throughout the day, Julianne and her team worked behind the scenes to ensure that every single moment went smoothly; we never had to worry about a thing.

We hired Melissa for our wedding in August 2024. Planning a wedding is stressful, but knowing that you have someone who is so experienced, and is there to ensure your exact vision is put to life, makes it less stressful!
Melissa and her team were professional, understanding, caring and exactly who you want on your wedding day (and leading up to it) to ensure everything runs smoothly. She responded to all my questions I pestered her with, very promptly (and there were lots!). She ensured I was comfortable each step along the way and made sure our every wish became reality.
Our wedding was so beautiful, it was beyond what we imagined. No detail was missed, she ensured we stayed on time, and communicated with us each step of the way. I also loved the checklist she provides of things that we needed to complete behind the scenes (i.e. when to make sure my dress alterations were complete). Melissa communicated with every vendor making sure everyone was on the same page, and so that we did not have to worry about a thing! My husband and I were able to relax, and enjoy our day knowing that each and every detail was expertly cared for.

My daughter hired Megan and her team initially for set up and take down for their wedding, but expanded their service to include the overall design as well. Megan was absolutely FANTASTIC throughout the entire process, always being mindful of my daughter’s budget, accommodating any changes we wanted and completely organizing and overseeing all of the rentals and florals. When we walked into the venue, the design far exceeded my expectations (not easy to do, as I am quite particular and detail-oriented myself) - the vendors she worked with (especially the florists, "little daisy florals" in Calgary), did a wonderful job and were reasonably priced. The rentals she brought in from outside or from her own inventory were elegant and high end quality. She really listened to the overall look my daughter wanted and transformed the space to reflect that in every way. As for the set up and take down service, what a treat to not have to worry about setting up and then to arrive the next morning and find all of the rentals gone and our personal items neatly arranged for our easy pick up. She was honest, never pushy, reliable and thorough. I would recommend Megan to anyone who was looking for someone who is personable, accessible (always responded in a reasonable amount of time), guaranteed to listen to your vision and budget and went above and beyond what she needed to in every way. With all the stress that comes with planning and executing a wedding, choosing Megan would be the best decision any bride (or MOB) could make. Can’t say enough!!

Megan was truly our wedding fairy godmother – my #1 tip to all friends who are getting married is to have a wedding planner, and for that wedding planner to be Megan. Most people describe wedding planning as a stressful activity, but I never found that to be the case because she took care of everything. She made decision making easy and straight forward, and kept us on track with both timeline and budget. The few small (inevitable) issues that crept up on the day of the wedding, I only found out about after the fact. She planned my wedding with the same care and attention to detail that I imagine she would pay to her own.
Thanks to COVID, Megan ended up essentially planning our wedding twice. She stayed on top of the ever-changing government regulations leading up to our event and helped us ensure our guests remained healthy and everyone felt comfortable. She also didn’t charge us anything extra even though I’m sure she ended up working way more hours than she would have if we had been able to stay with our ‘Plan A’ event.
That brings me to her rates – they are extremely fair. Any discounts she gets from vendors (in our case this included our DJ, florist, and rentals) she passed on to us. She is active in the Calgary Weddings community and has relationships with a ton of vendors. This allowed her to recommend companies that were pleasant to work with but also reasonably priced and that matched our vision for the event.
I could go on but I think you get the idea. I don’t plan on getting married again but am hoping that Megan will venture outside of weddings to help us throw whatever our next event is – probably an anniversary celebration with all our friends and family once the pandemic is over.

Sarah was such a phenomenal person to deal with. Our wedding day was successfully decorated beautifully thanks to these guys and I didn’t have much to worry about. Come that day, Sarah took over and was totally reliable and came through, going above and beyond for us. All interactions were smooth because she made it about us and catered to what we needed.
Setup and take down was no issue at all as they showed up and went to work. So much I didn’t have to worry about on such a busy and eventful day.

The biggest help Melissa gave us was connecting us to many trustworthy vendors during our wedding prep. All the recommended vendors were superb: catering (An Affair to Remember), DJ (Revolution Entertainment), and photo/video (Summer Team). On the day of, she coordinated all the arrival and departure times of the vendors so bride / groom / family members could focus on the wedding day.

Royal Events was creative and heartfelt and put together the most beautiful decor for our Sangeet and for our wedding ceremony! I was quite particular about what I wanted for certain things, and had no idea for others — they delivered for both! They were very flexible and patient with us, especially since we had a lot of items we were uncertain about. Gracehills event and rentals is by far one of the best event organizers for doing the décor. I got the balloon decor done for 2 of my events and the decor was really fabulous. It was for the one year anniversary of my club and the re-launch of my restaurant. Lola simply has an natural eye for decor. She decorated the hall for our student gala, and to say that I was beyond impressed is an understatement. With just a paragraph of our event vision, she ran with it and created an extravagant event, with dazzling glass vases filled with pearls, high-rise flower arrangements, shining table covers, and iridescent mirrors. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I entered the hall. Our VIP guests truly thought they had entered a luxury wedding. In all of their social media posts, Lola’s decor was the focal point. I still have yet to meet a decorator that can contend with her creativity, hardwork and dedication. Moreover, Lola significantly reduced my stress surrounding the event by thinking of logistics that had never even crossed my mind. She was adamant about attending the hall beforehand to scope out the dimensions and feel of the venue; she carefully reviewed floor plans, planning every inch to a tee. If you want your guests to be in absolute awe, you must absolutely go with Lola. Our guests are still raving about the beautifully decorated venue to this day. But don’t take my word for it. Just take a look at the fabulous photos from our event and you be taken away.
