I had such a fantastic experience at this salon – everyone was wonderful from who I spoke to on the phone to book, the lovely woman who gave me the tour, and a huge shout-out to my stylist, Mackenzie! The vibes are great, the salon is so modern but very relaxed, and it was very clean.
Mackenzie took the time to go through my hair history with me, really get to know what I was looking for, and threw in some suggestions for me to see what I thought. When I had questions about other services, Mackenzie did a great job explaining them to me and was honest about if she thought it would work for me or not; she was so friendly & easy to talk to during my appointment, and such a wealth of knowledge.
Everyone I spoke to was incredibly proud of the products that are available, and I did walk away with a purchase because of how highly raved the products were.

I had an amazing experience with Thalia. My hair was orange copper color with eneven color tone, which I didn’t like at all. She spent the best efficient time for me and made my hair to cool ash brown color, which I exactly explained. I literally didn’t expect this perfect result as I knew my hair was mess.

I made an appointment with Kallie because of her «experience» with curly hair. I am black with 3c curly hair and Kallie told me she could do my hair. I gave her a reference photo of the style I wanted. It was honey blonde and brown. She told me to get to that colour I would need to have a brown base for the honey blonde highlights to blend in and have a softer look. This session I would dye my hair brown and the next session I would add the honey blonde highlights. I agreed and we proceeded to dye my entire head brown. Kallie and her apprentice were doing my hair. Why was it that when everything was dyed and washed my hair looked terrible. Only the top of my head was orangey-brown and the bottom was completely jet black. I thought it was the lightning in the salon because they said it looked good and I trusted them. I paid $600 including tip. When I got home my family immediately told me that the colour was not uniform and the top of my head was very orangey brown. When my sister parted my hair in the back it was jet black. My sister ended up calling the salon because I was bawling my eyes out. I spent $600 for my hair to look like side show Bob!!!! I’m absolutely devastated. My sister messaged Kallie and she was gas lighting me that it was a process and the next session they would add the blonde highlights. I don’t understand how you can tell me at the beginning of my appointment that the honey blonde would not blend with my black hair the way I want but then tell me the next session the blonde will show when my hair is still black. I have an event this week and two weddings to attend. I look absolutely disgusting. The colour in person is even worse it’s so orange on the top of my head. Even my friends have pointed out how it’s not even brown and how messed up it looks. I’m completely devastated and disappointed in this place because Kallie should of told me right at the start that she couldn’t do it. I’ve been crying since I got home and haven’t stopped. This has ruined my salon experience. $600 for orangey-brown scalp. How were you even planing to add the honey blonde highlights the next session. I don’t understand why you just weren’t just honest with me. I don’t understand how you could do this to me. Do not come here if you want your curly hair done. If I could give zero stars I would.

Just to comment to the owners response. The multi appt was two sessions. The first session was to dye my hair brown and the second appt is to add the honey blonde highlights so it blends softer and we achieve the look I wanted. This first session, just to reiterate, was to dye my hair brown but the end result was far from that. The top of my head is very very orangey-brown and the bottom is completely jet black. Anyone with working photoreceptors can see this. Even if I were to come in for highlights for my next appt it would not have given the soft look I wanted and what Kallie had explained to me at the start. Kallie even said she did not tone my hair. So what was the point of dying my hair brown? This wasn’t a misunderstanding or miscommunication. Kallie just did not do her job correctly and obviously does not know how to work with curly hair. So yes, I was promised brown hair for this appt and of course one would only expect to get brown hair. But being completely honest, I did not have high expectations for this appt since I was going to have brown hair. Pretty basic and simple to do. I would have had high expectations during the second session when highlights were to be added. Anywho, thank you for the very quick response! I really appreciate you being active with customers on here and taking action on reviews like mine!

Recently I decided to dye my hair blonde for the first time and was delighted to l find out that Sasha is a literal ninja when it comes to blondes. My natural hair is very dark brown and I wanted to get a bright blonde balayage. Sasha broke up the job into three sessions to make the process as gentle as possible on my hair. I’ve been going to Vicky at JNJ Hair Salon for about 3 years now, and she’s honestly the only person I trust with my hair. She’s Korean and really knows how to work with Asian hair, which is super important to me.
She just did my first ever perm, and it turned out so good! I was nervous at first, but she explained everything and made me feel totally comfortable. She always takes her time and makes sure everything looks natural and suits me.
Vicky is super sweet, knowledgeable, and just really good at what she does. Highly recommend if you want someone who actually understands your hair and cares about getting it right.

Karly is fantastic- chatting with her the entire time was a great experience and she made it effortless to be in a salon again after not having professional work done to my hair in 5 years. Her desire to achieve great hair and a happy client clearly was shown as I felt like a literal queen walking out of there. Plusss, she gave the BEST head massage when shampooing/conditioning which only added to the amazing experience I had and felt truly pampered there.
The staff and atmosphere were super peaceful and well thought out. You get a ton of beverages to choose from while you wait for your hair to get done which was a nice addition! I wish I had something to critique them on but truly they did such a fabulous job I can’t think of anything I disliked about the services provided, nor the staff or even atmosphere… 11/10 in my opinion and well worth the price. My hair was all the way to my butt and had a lot of breakage, split ends and was very dry and brittle… it just needed the love it deserved after not being touched by a stylist in a few years. I’ve had such a horrible experience with salons in the past but decided to bite the bullet after finding 1977 on Google and reading through the website and reviews, scheduling my appointment with Karly.
My first note was the atmosphere, beautiful decor, very calm and inviting, I instantly felt relaxed and at ease. The receptionist welcomed me with a warm smile, offering a beverage as I waited. Very friendly and professional.
Karly was amazing right from the bat! She made me feel so much more excited with her energy and the way she introduced herself. Her scalp massages were next level and she was so thorough with making sure I left with exactly what I wanted. Although it was just a cut and style, she really paid attention to detail, explaining the process along the way while also making me feel like I was in the best hands. Her friendly demeanour, professionalism, talent and love for hair will definitely have me back in her chair in no time. I felt like more than just a client and that speaks volumes.
10/10 would recommend this salon. The way the staff interacts with one another and the clients, the calmness and positive energy and talent is just not worth missing out on. Plus, my hair hasn’t looked or felt this good in years. I was expecting to lose a lot of length but Karly is Houdini and wouldn’t allow it, I don’t know how she did it.. but she did! I love how she asked me a lot about what I’d like, what I want to try and generally making sure I was comfortable throughout. Since I’ve been really angry for three weeks now- every morning I look in the mirror, ie have to write this review.
Before the cut I told the hairdresser that I just wanted my hair a little shorter no layers just straight. He repeated «no layers you want something simple» right.
The appointment seemed very long, which surprised me. He didn’t ask again during the cut. He blow-dried and by then I was still quite happy.
When I washed my hair at home, I realized that I had an incredible number of layers in my hair. The top ones were so short that it is impossible to correct them.
I wonder if he runs this program as standard and just goes through with it.
In any case, I’m really annoyed.
