Great staff and great experience.
I came to Learn and Talk with a hard task to prepare myself for academic IELTS with bands 7.0 or more in all four components and finally I achieved this goal. Well-structured teaching approach of Learn and Talk steadily helped me in improving my English, along with individualised and friendly attitude that boosted my performance. The only things which students need to have in class are motivation and willingness to study. Thank you Learn and Talk, you have amazing teachers.
Petr Dreval (☆ 5/5)

I had a disappointing experience at this IELTS centre. The headphones provided for the listening section were poor quality, and I could hear other people’s recordings, which was distracting. There was also a lot of noise from staff outside the exam room, making it hard to focus. Additionally, the desk was too high and the chairs were uncomfortable and unadjustable, causing shoulder pain during the computer-based exam. While the staff was friendly and registration was smooth, these issues need to be addressed for a better test experience.
Kajal Patel (☆ 2/5)

Great friendly staff. BUT, horrible chairs in exam rooms. You can’t adjust the height of the chair and the chairs were probably designed for toddlers so typing is uncomfortable to say the least. Chairs are uncomfortable, everything is uncomfortable. Do your back and shoulders a favour and select any other centre for your language tests.

I completed my IELTS exam at Learn and Talk IELTS Test Centre two months ago, and my experience was excellent. The entire process was managed smoothly, from registration to the exam day.
The staff were friendly, well-organized, and ensured that everything ran on time. On exam day, they maintained a calm and professional environment, which really helped ease the nerves. The instructions were clear, and they were always ready to assist with any queries.
After the exam, the follow-up process was equally seamless. I received my results promptly, and the overall support provided was outstanding.
If you’re planning to take the IELTS, I highly recommend choosing Learn and Talk IELTS Test Centre for a stress-free and efficient experience!

The AF team of teachers are fantastic! They are professional, engaging and help to cultivate the Alliance Community. There is plenty of focus on conversation, so grammar supports learning to this end, but speaking with improved confidence and ability is the end goal. Take some classes and quickly become immersed in the extracurricular activities and develop friendships in French.

I have just completed my first beginner course at AF. I have added greatly to my rudimentary French and learned many interesting things about French culture.
The classes were enjoyable and captivating. The instructor was excellent, kind and patient.
It was a small class of 6 students so everyone received personal attention from the instructor. We came to know one another and were not shy to speak French together.
The classroom was bright and well equipped.
C Space is a lovely building and has a French library and a small cafe. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

I recently completed the French course at English Clinic, and I’m thrilled with the progress I’ve made! As someone who had little to no French knowledge before starting, I found the course to be both engaging and effective.
The course was well-organized, with a good balance of grammar, vocabulary, and speaking practice. Each lesson was designed to build on the previous one, which helped me gradually improve my skills without feeling overwhelmed. The instructor was fantastic – very approachable and patient. They made sure everyone in the class understood the material and created a comfortable environment for asking questions.
One of the highlights of this course was the in-person interaction. Being able to practice speaking French with fellow students and getting immediate feedback from the instructor was incredibly valuable. The small class size also allowed for more personal attention, which helped me feel more confident in my learning.
The course was immersive – we spent a lot of time speaking and listening to French, which really helped with pronunciation and comprehension. I appreciated the use of real-world examples and cultural insights, which added depth to the lessons. There were also plenty of opportunities to practice outside of class, including group activities and homework assignments that reinforced what we learned.
I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in my speaking and understanding of French. I can now have simple conversations, understand basic phrases, and feel more comfortable navigating everyday situations in French. This course gave me the foundation I needed, and I’m excited to continue learning!
Overall, I highly recommend English Clinic to anyone interested in learning French. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to improve your skills, this course offers a solid learning experience with great instruction. I’m looking forward to continuing my French journey with future classes!

SAIT provides a focused and practical education, especially valuable for those seeking career-oriented skills. The emphasis is heavily on hands-on learning, which allows students to gain real-world experience before entering their chosen fields. Instructors often have direct industry connections, further enriching the learning process and ensuring the curriculum remains relevant to current workplace demands.
A significant challenge, however, is the overall cost of attendance. While the practical education is invaluable, the tuition fees represent a considerable investment for many. Despite this financial commitment, the facilities and resources available are impressive, supporting a learning environment geared toward professional development and bridging the gap between academics and the workplace.

As a current student at SAIT, I can say that this school truly excels in delivering a high-quality, hands-on education. The instructors are knowledgeable and approachable, often bringing valuable industry experience into the classroom. The facilities are also impressive, with modern equipment and resources that give students a taste of real-world work environments. Each program is designed with a strong focus on practical skills, which I believe will give me a competitive edge in my future career.
However, one downside I’ve experienced is the cost. The tuition fees are quite high, which can be challenging for students who are balancing studies with financial responsibilities. Despite the cost, I feel that the quality of education and the opportunities available, such as internships and industry connections, make it a worthwhile investment. SAIT provides an enriching learning experience, and although the financial aspect is tough, I believe it’s preparing me well for the workforce.

I have been to 4 colleges in my life and am an A student on average. I am writing this review so that others are aware of what they are getting themselves into if they choose or are considering SAIT College.
This college is a disgrace to the education system! It is all for profit and not about your education. They are short teaching staff and the professors in general should not be deemed their position. They are unprofessional, arrogant, extremely disorganized and lack the skills to provide a proper education. I have met very gifted students in my journey at this college that should be offered teaching positions however they stated that they would turn down such an offer due to the political environment at this institution. The staff are so immature and unprofessional that they will slander your name to their colleges if you question them. Because of this and many other reasons I strongly believe that this college is a lawsuit just waiting to happen.
It is very unfortunate however there is the possibility for change if enough people speak up or give a thumbs up to my review if they agree. Be kind and allow others to know the truth. It could save someone a lot more than just their time and money.
John W (☆ 1/5)

The computer science program is meant for absolute beginners, despite SAIT calling it «advanced». I am already an experienced programmer, and I was told by SAIT that they could build upon my current understanding, but that was a lie.
I decided to challenge myself slightly by doing more than what was required in my web dev class. I submitted several assignments early, and did more work than what was required to demonstrate my skills. But I was given zeros on all the assignments. I talked to the teacher, and he told me «your work is exceptional, but you used SCSS instead of CSS, so you get a zero», despite SCSS being a superset of CSS and compiling into CSS, which means I actually met the criteria. SAIT administration said there’s nothing they can do. It’s clear they just want me to repeat the class so they can get more money out of me.
Also, due to the millions of immigrants Canada is bringing in (mostly from India and China) every year, 90% of the people in this school are non-white and don’t speak English properly, including the teachers. This means I’m a minority and I don’t fit it in. Our country is being invaded, and our culture is being destroyed. Making friends is very difficult, because there’s so few Canadians here anymore.
The overpriced residence doesn’t have AC, so my room heats up to 38 degrees C during the summer. The meal plan gave me raw meat. They eventually shut down for a few weeks because everyone cancelled their meal plan.
SAIT is also bad at communicating, which is a given considering most teachers cannot speak English properly. I emailed SAIT regarding a few issues and questions I had, but they would take several weeks to respond, only to give a generic response that didn’t answer the question, or CC the email to someone else.
Their course is very outdated. They are still teaching JAVA 8, which was released back in 2014, an entire decade ago. In the tech world, that’s an eternity. How can they expect students to be prepared when they’re stuck learning software that’s practically ancient? I asked the teacher has she said «It’s too expensive for SAIT to update it», which is odd considering they are charging tens of thousands of dollars, plus a ridiculous amount of fees. I’ve already spent about $300 just to use the washing machines for my clothes, and I’ve only been here for 10 months.
I have been getting an email every week with several LGBTQ advertisements and events. SAIT has become an extremist, pushing mental ideologies. See the images I attached to this. I get an email like this, saying it’s pride week, every week. There are also several posters and flags around the school. In the second image, it is advertising an event where males dress up as a female. They wear dresses, apply excessive amounts of makeup and paint their nails. What has happened to our society? This is insanity.
I have also received several emails for scholarship opportunities that are only for «minorities» like a scholarship only for black people, or only for aboriginals, etc. Giving people opportunities or advantages based purely on their race is racism. Apparently SAIT, and the western world for that matter, thinks this is acceptable.
There is also a poster advertising an «anti-racism certificate» course. This is so ironic. SAIT, and the western world has become woke. Our culture and way of life have been destroyed.
EDIT:
I just saw a transgender teacher. It was a guy wearing a dress, wearing women’s earrings and makeup. He looked mentally ill. This is insane. How has this nonsense become socially acceptable here? The far-left media has brainwashed people.
I’m so tired of this, I’m leaving Canada when I’m done here.
John Doe (☆ 1/5)

I’m so incredibly disappointed in this institution for many things, but mostly how they handle program withdrawals. They are charging me $689 (50% of my tuition for the course I’m «registered in» and applicable fees) and I’m absolutely appalled with their reasoning.
I’m almost finished my university education. I would have had a year left had I continued with my program; however, I wanted a change. I decided to enrol in the SAIT ITS program to see if it would be a better fit for me. In December, I contacted my advisor about withdrawing from my courses as I had decided to return to my previous institution (to study Business instead). This is where the chaos ensued.
You would think that I must have withdrawn from my program halfway through the semester right? You would be incorrect. I withdrew on January 10th, and they feel that a 50% refund is acceptable within the withdrawal period. Their reasoning: «They could have charged me more».
How are students supposed to know if their course load is too heavy before they begin classes? How are students supposed to know if they need further accommodation for a specific course before that class actually starts? How are your students supposed to meet their own needs if you’re charging them for needing to drop a course in order to make ends meet? You’re supposed to meet the needs of students… not break your students until they’re broke.
Or in my case, how are students supposed to know that a program would drive their mental state into the ground. They do not care, nor do they show any sympathy.
If you are like me, and you don’t have money to throw away on tuition for a class that you were supposed to be withdrawn from… I would highly recommend applying to an institution that doesn’t just care about money and actually has a heart for their students.
I hope this review can help you make an educated decision for your future.
SASHA KIENITZ (☆ 1/5)

As a student of this school for many years I have to say it has sure gone downhill. In the the electrical building alone.. barly any of the toilets work. If they do 2 days later it has a sign sahing out if order. Pretty sure the plumbing department is right below us? Automatic door openers dont work, in other buildings the esclators are broken every second day. Are you guys following hudsons bay? It didnt work out so well for them..
And with Tuition alone from just electrical students not including the portion of funding the goverment pays. This is over 1 million dollars per 2/3 month semester.
Tuition costs keep going up but the quality of this school keeps going down. There has been a 2 Liter juice box on top of a hanging heater for 4 years now… you guys seriously need to get your school together.
Sincerely
A student who used to really hold this school in a high reguard.

SAIT is a circus disguised as a school. You pay thousands just to teach yourself from ancient PowerPoints while getting ghosted by every advisor like it’s part of the curriculum. Blackboard crashes more than my sanity, registration feels like a rigged slot machine, and the Wi-Fi? Completely possessed — only works when you’re not submitting an assignment. Every hallway is blocked by eternal construction, printers don’t work unless you sacrifice a goat, and the only consistent thing here is your rising stress. The support staff? Might as well be fictional — they’ll send you in circles until you give up or graduate from sheer exhaustion. You’ll walk in with hope and leave with trauma, wondering if you accidentally enrolled in a social experiment. Honestly, the squirrels on campus have more structure in their lives. And if you dare complain, you’ll get a fake support response like, «Thanks for your feedback! We’re undergoing maintenance forever. Please scream into the void or file a ticket we’ll ignore. Best of luck!» Zero stars. Actually, negative stars. The only real learning here is how to survive academic gaslighting.

DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR FROM STAFF
I contacted the admissions office to ask about getting my deposit back. I understand my request may have been past the deadline, but I still expected a respectful conversation. Instead, I was cut off and the call was ended on me without any real explanation or effort to listen. I left the call feeling dismissed and disappointed. I truly expected more professionalism and basic courtesy from a college that’s supposed to support its students. I hope this is addressed so others don’t have a similar experience.

I wrote my exam there (June 28th 2025 @ 10:30 am). The two young ladies that are running the establishment did not identify themselves who they were or anything that related to them working there other than behind the desk. I asked for some assistance for making sure I concluded my work properly ( as in my submissions), they told me they couldn’t advise me of anything and then ask me in the end if I submitted my answers in the computer. I have no idea if it was a complete waste of time or not, I am completely unhappy with my experience there. There’s nothing on any of the government website or this private businesses website stating that you have to empty all your pockets and leave all your personal items behind locked up, and then if you wear corrective lenses your glasses are inspected, pockets are checked to see if you are going to cheat. There is cameras above the computers to prevent cheating. I am not happy with the overall experience the lack of information that the two staff members had given me in more than just one way and I will not be coming back.

The staff are very kind. They also gives us free tutorial. Staff assist us for our personal needs during our visit, they tell us to use washroom before exam, they also offer there garden area for waiting.

Terrible. Worst education program I’ve ever dealt with. They barely answer your calls when you call them, and when you go in person to take the test it’s completely different from the practice exam they make you do at home. I did my social studies course online, I felt really confident, getting straight 90% on it every time, but when I went in person to take the test it was completely different. It was a topic they barely informed you on the course! And the tests aren’t cheap either, 85$ per test and if you fail you have to pay again. It seems like they teach you one thing and at the testing place they give you something else harder so they can make money. I do not recommend this place at all.

Miss Sherma is very kind, helpful and approachable person. She made sure that her students will not just pass any exams, but to have a very satisfying grades. Highly recommended especially to those like me who’s struggling with school.

I successfully did a couple of AWS certifications here in 2024. I have one lined up for next month. The staff are courteous, super helpful and the test facility meets my expectations.
Mohammed (☆ 5/5)

do not bother. zero communication, low quality units (full of typos and grammar mistakes, the quiz answers are not even coherent) all made by the same person who put zero effort. this genuinely feels like a scam to profit off those who had to leave high school. sent 5 emails none have been returned. the units feel insulting. try a different program. for 630-900$ it’s not worth it. request a refund if you started already

I just wrote a big exam and am beyond impressed with the compassion, care, and respect from the front desk staff. I came in a week prior to my exam to ask some questions and Marilyn was more than helpful in providing answers to my questions and letting me know that other tenants begin to make sound around 1/2pm. She was very accommodating, respectful, enforced the rules of the testing centre yet was also empathetic towards the people who were taking the test. I encourage anyone taking a test here to come a week earlier to ask questions and about the sound level on your specific testing day. Other tenants’ sounds are out of the control of the centre, but they do their best to inform applicants and find reasonable accommodation. The lunch area with all the plants was a major stress reducer during my longer break and provided fresh air and a small step away from the exam room. Again, I highly recommend calling and asking about sound levels and any other questions you have before you register for the exam and go in a week before to scope out the area. The most impactful part that lead to a positive testing experience was Marilyn. Marilyn is an absolute gem and I am so glad to have talked to her.

Troy’s classes have truly made a huge impact on my academic journey. When I first started ELA 30-1 and 30-2, I was really struggling—I was sitting in the fifties and didn’t have much confidence in myself. But from the very beginning, Troy was incredibly supportive and patient. He explained things in a way that actually made sense, and he always took the time to make sure I understood the material, no matter how many questions I had.
What really stood out to me was how encouraging he was. He never made me feel like I was behind or incapable—instead, he motivated me to keep improving and gave me the tools to actually do it. Over time, my marks steadily climbed, and I ended up in the seventies, which was something I didn’t think was possible at one point.
Troy’s dedication to his students goes beyond just teaching the content—he genuinely cares about our success. I’m extremely grateful for everything he’s done to help me grow both as a student and a person.

Troy is an amazing tutor. His class has empowered my son who at the beginning struggled with ELA – reading comprehension and writing, but after getting the support from Troy, my son passed his Diploma exams with flying colours. His confidence level has improved and he basically enjoys reading and writing. Troy’s classes and learning environment comprise of all resources to meet individual student’s learning needs. His classes are fun, relaxed and engaging. The strategies he provided using my son’s areas of interest to target his needs met my son’s learning objectives. We are supper blessed to have Troy. I have a daughter in grade 10 and I am going to engage Troy’s support for her learning as well.
Lucky I found Troy through google search haha.
Bless you Troy!

Troy is an extraordinary English tutor. Right from the beginning, his passionate energy differentiates him from other teachers and makes learning English enjoyable, which is crucial if you don’t like the subject (I know from experience). He also focuses on all the skills required for success, not only in class but also on the diploma. Most of our sessions focused on refining reading comp skills through practice or learning to write an effective PRT or CART. Unlike most English teachers who don’t give specific feedback, Troy highlights your structure, wording and grammar issues and tells you how to fix them. He helped me improve my writing grades from 50s/60s in 20-1 to 70s/80s in 30-1, my reading comp grades from 70s in 20-1 to 80s/90s in 30-1 and my overall grade from 78 in 20-1 to 80 in 30-1 with the diploma included. Overall, he is an amazing tutor who will go above and beyond to help you improve your reading and writing skills to ensure you receive the grade you want in ELA 30-1/30-2 for post-secondary.

Troy is incredible at being a great tutor for high school language arts. He offered insightful feedback towards my writing + reading comprehension skills and assignments. He also provided plenty of resources for overcoming certain obstacles such as transcripts for Shakespearean plays. As a result, my marks for E.L.A. started to drift into the 70s and 80s. I highly recommend reaching out to Troy if you need help and guidance with high school language arts.
KDJ (☆ 5/5)

I struggled with English as a subject for many years, concerned that I wouldn’t be able to achieve the grade I needed to get into my dream university program. As soon as I started with Troy as my tutor, I began seeing drastic improvement, in not only my grades, but in my perspective of the English subject as a whole. When it came to English, I never wanted to improve on my skills or work super hard. But over time I began to enjoy it. Troy was able to make every class entertaining and interesting in one way or another, and it made completing English assignments so much more easier and enjoyable. I would without a doubt recommend Troy as an English tutor, as he is certainly the best tutor I’ve ever had and is a major reason why I get the opportunity to attend the University of Calgary for Kinesiology!
Gordie henderson (☆ 5/5)

Troy was recommended to me by a friend who he helped get ready for Diploma exams. We are so thankful for the referral. He is a wealth of knowledge and is really helping my daughter prepare for her English 30 classes and for the upcoming Diploma. She leaves her sessions with Troy smiling! English has never made her smile before. Troy is incredible and we can’t thank him enough.
Margo Tovee (☆ 5/5)

Troy was fantastic! Through the beginning of grade eleven all the way to the end of grade 12 he tremendously grew my English writing and comprehending skills moving my grade from low 70’s to mid to high 80’s.
I was a completely new person in terms of being able to craft essays and confidently complete reading comprehensions.
Troy was there for me whenever I had any questions and would give me homework or any other forms of prep for upcoming assignments.
Overall great tutor and would highly recommend for anyone who thinks English is impossible because he certainly makes it seem in every way possible to excel in.

One of the most beautiful buildings and has a beautiful location. I took the English exam and was expecting to get the second level because I did not have much confidence in myself, but I met one of the ladies there and she was very friendly and classy in a wonderful way. She made me gain confidence in myself, and believe me, I didn’t know where my self-confidence came from She started asking me and I answered her and in the end I was shocked that my level of English was very good. Speaking, listening, reading and writing were all at levels 4 and 5. When I finished and left the building, I felt like the happiest person in my life (I extend my sincere thanks to the staff working there and appreciate their kindness and thank you for instilling my self-confidence).❤️

I made the mistake of arriving at 4:10 in the afternoon, they work until 4:30. I wanted to make 3 appointments to obtain our level of English. We are newcomers with PR and the receptionist told us that we have to fill out some questions and that we could do it. there, I had doubts and when I asked her I didn’t know what to say and I felt his eagerness to finish because they were almost closing, so I asked her if there was someone who spoke Spanish, she said «yes» but the person was not in the office then he told me that there was another person but the receptionist told me She leave at 4:30 and she have to close, but I wanted to speak with the person in Spanish, since I drove for more than 20 minutes and I didn’t have another day off, but the receptionist just wanted to leave but her English and my English did not allow me to understand the doubt that I had. I told her that I would wait for the person speak Spanish and she asked me to calm down and I told her I am calm, she repeated to me again that she finished at 4:30 and it was 4:20. Finally the person who spoke Spanish arrived and answered all my doubts (she is from Venezuela) very professional and attentive. The receptionist went back to the office and told her that until what time would she be attending us? We finished at 4:39 and the receptionist asked me to write down the names of my family in a post note for what? I don’t know. But the lack of empathy and the way she us was dismissive and she just wanted us to leave. I hope that these places for IMMIGRANTS understand that people deserve to be treated with empathy and respect even if you arrive at 4 pm or 10 am. I understand that they close at 4:30 and that it took 9 more minutes of her time, but the receptionist was so desperate for us to leave that I felt harassed for not asking more and for me to leave quickly. I hope that leaving my family’s names and mine to the receptionist on the paper will not cause she to delay behind our English test. CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD BE WITH EMPATHY AND RESPECT IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU DO NOT SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE. I know it took 9 minutes more than the receptionist’s time, so I can understand your annoyance, for which I apologize, but if there is something I should highlight, it is The excellent attention that the girl who attended me gave me, she is from Venezuela, was very professional and attentive, I did not see her name.

Frequently Asked Questions about Language Schools in Calgary
What types of language programs are offered by Calgary language schools?
Calgary language schools typically offer a range of programs, including English as a Second Language (ESL), French immersion (though less common than ESL), and sometimes courses in other languages like Spanish, Mandarin, or German. Within ESL, you'll find different levels, from beginner to advanced, often categorized as Level 1, 2, 3, etc. Some schools also offer specialized programs like academic English or business English.
How do I choose the right language school in Calgary?
Selecting the right school involves considering several factors. Look for accreditation from recognized organizations, such as Language Canada. Check the school's student reviews and testimonials. Consider the class sizes – smaller classes often mean more individualized attention. Think about the location and its accessibility for you. Finally, investigate the school's teaching methods and resources.
What is accreditation, and why is it important?
Accreditation is a validation process where a recognized organization assesses a language school’s quality and standards. Schools with accreditation, such as those accredited by Language Canada, have demonstrated adherence to specific criteria regarding curriculum, teacher qualifications, student support services, and facilities. Accreditation offers assurance of quality and can be a requirement for student visas.
What qualifications do the teachers have?
Reputable language schools typically employ teachers who hold recognized qualifications, such as a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (like education or linguistics) and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) or equivalent certification. Many teachers also possess experience teaching a variety of student ages and learning styles. It's good to inquire about the teacher-student ratio as well.
What are the typical class sizes?
Class sizes can vary significantly among Calgary language schools. Some schools may have very large classes, sometimes exceeding 20 students, while others maintain smaller classes, often with 10-15 students per instructor. Smaller classes often allow for more personalized attention and opportunities to participate actively, which is especially helpful for some learners.
What is the cost of attending a language school in Calgary?
The cost of language school varies greatly depending on the program's duration, intensity, and the school’s reputation. Generally, you can expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $1000+ per month. This cost typically covers tuition and learning materials. It is important to factor in costs such as accommodation, transportation, and living expenses, as these are not always included.
Do I need a student visa to attend a language school in Calgary?
Generally, yes, if you are not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you will likely need a student visa to attend a language school in Calgary. The requirements for obtaining a student visa can be quite stringent, so it's vital to research the specific requirements of your country's embassy or consulate and ensure the school is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
What are the benefits of studying in an immersive environment?
Studying in an immersive environment, where English is the primary language used both inside and outside the classroom, offers substantial benefits. Immersion facilitates faster language acquisition through constant exposure to the language in real-life situations. It also promotes cultural understanding and allows students to develop communication skills and build confidence.
What support services are typically offered to international students?
Many language schools provide various support services for international students, including academic advising, career counseling, and assistance with accommodation. Some schools also offer social events and excursions to help students adjust to their new environment and connect with other learners. Check the school's website or ask during a consultation to learn more.
How long does it typically take to achieve a desired level of fluency?
The time it takes to achieve a desired level of fluency varies depending on factors like prior language experience, learning intensity, and individual aptitude. However, with consistent effort and a structured learning program, students can often see noticeable progress within a few months. Achieving a high level of fluency, however, might take several years of dedicated study.
