Customer Reviews
Our recent visit on Wednesday evening left much to be desired. The service provided by the staff was not characterized by kindness. Furthermore, the culinary offerings were generally unremarkable, with the exception of the double smashed burger, which we found to be excessively oily and unsatisfactory.
Soheil Ghazizadeh (☆ 3/5)

Went to the pub for dessert and ordered 1 of each that was on the menu, sticky toffee pudding and Nanaimo bar cheesecake. They were $13 each, the sticky toffee pudding was banana bread with the smallest amount of caramel sauce and ice cream, the Nanaimo bar cheesecake came in THE smallest jar, it was warm, powdery and the crust base tasted old. However our experience despite the desert was awesome thanks to our server Sarah, she was awesome! The atmosphere was top notch as per usual.
Jane Willox (☆ 4/5)

It had been a few years since we had been, so we thought we’d go back and try the brunch on the street patio. It was an enjoyable meal. It’s lovely to have businesses like this in our community.
The service can’t be beat here. We overhead at a nearby table where they forgot to key in the order, causing it to be delayed. The waitress profusely apologized and covered the cost of that dish for those folks. Talk about taking care of their customers to make it right. Top notch.
Fancy Travel (☆ 4/5)

Came here with friends for dinner and some drinks. It was great! Staff was friendly, and the atmosphere is great! Small little community pub.
They have a small-ish but great selection of beers on tap. The food was great, my table had the Sunday roast, schnitzel, fish and chips, and the sticky toffee pudding, and all were great!
It’s a tight place, and because it’s a neighbourhood pub, so expect to wait at peak times.
Quinn (☆ 5/5)

The haddock is AMAZING. 10/10
Coleslaw was flavourless 2/10
Peach drink (clearly not a Bellini but you could help by adding what peach drink it you have in your reply). All Prosecco and no peach 3/10
Waiting for the server was the worst part of the experience. It was slow, mid day and we were told to sit at a booth.
We waited nearly 20 minutes before we got drinks or menus. Then another 20 for her to come back to order.. food came decently, but then after we were done, she took our food, our drinks and we waited another 20 minutes for the bill.
That haddock though, I’ll probably order to pick-up next time I’m in the area! It was delicious.
Also why only mention the drink, and not the poor service???
Arika V (☆ 3/5)

A quick beer on a Friday afternoon. Lively area down here and the KP is must stop if you like old, well established neighborhood pubs. Grab a pint of a local lager and soak it in. Great spot
Cameron Wilson (☆ 5/5)

We enjoyed our beers outside on a cute patio and went inside for dinner. The inside was very cozy and the food was amazing. The schnitzel was great — I was worried about the gravy but it was mushroom based and very tasty (not at all heavy!). My group enjoyed everything we ordered.

Went there for Happy Hour — the half-price wings on Wednesdays are definitely worth it! The Maple Bacon and Honey Garlic flavors were both delicious. Wild Rose’s craft beers are fruity and really impressive. The service was great too. The hockey-themed setting adds a fun touch — it’s a great spot for gatherings!
Ye Tian (☆ 5/5)

Had lunch at Side Street Pub & Grill in Kensington on a Saturday around noon, and it was a solid experience. The place was pretty quiet, so service was quick and attentive. The brunch menu had some good options, and the spinach dip was decent—though it came with more chips than dip. Prices are very reasonable, which is always a plus. A good spot if you’re looking for a laid-back, affordable meal!
Emily (☆ 4/5)

My friends and I had a wonderful evening at this place. The wings were delicious — we tried six different kinds, and all of them were great. We also had Belgian Moon beer, and it was excellent. Special thanks to Molly for checking in on us throughout the evening and being so sweet!
The prices are also very pleasant)
Anna (☆ 5/5)

Came here for the Sunday brunch. Had the pan scramble which was a lot of food for an amazing price. My husband has the fish and chips. The fish wasn’t the best, but still enjoyed it. Would come here again. Loved the patio as it was pet friendly.
Megan Webb (☆ 4/5)

Great to come here and watch sports. There are lots of TVs so you can watch multiple different games.
Nachos and burger were good but the pizza was bad. The cheese was very gelatinous and chunky.
Drinks were good and priced well.
Emily F (☆ 5/5)

We enjoyed a great afternoon here while visiting Calgary in May 2025. The pub has a good happy hour with great drink and food specials, along with good friendly service.
Lisa W (☆ 5/5)

Awesome place. Loaded and delicious food. Try their Alfredo pasta, beef & cheddar pizza, and rice bowl. Don’t forget to add mushrooms to your pizza and pasta

O’Sullivan’s Restaurant & Bar appears to be a popular destination, especially on wing nights, based on feedback. The attentive and personable service, as reported by many, creates a welcoming atmosphere. It’s clear that staff members like Portia contribute significantly to the overall positive experience. Friendly staff and a pleasant environment are recurring themes.
The establishment is notably appreciated for its affordability and well-priced drinks. A variety of wing flavors, alongside delightful cocktails like the Peach Kiss Martini, make it an attractive option for those seeking both tasty food and beverages. Affordable prices and a good selection of drinks are major draws for guests.

Customer Reviews
We had the fish and chips. Unfortunately they were out of the fish and we got served their «back up» fish and it was terrible. Soggy and weird. We still paid for it and my partner was given a burger instead.
Overall not a great meal. It looked alright but it wasn’t at par with a freshly battered fish.
L. L. (☆ 1/5)

: There are several days of wings discount specials!
It’s a good deal, but the wings are on the small side (like ~1.5-2 inches, bite sized). Tried Tandoori and Electric Honey flavours. The tandoori is not close to what i expected and VERY salty. My lips were inflamed because it was so salty. The Electric Honey sounds like it should be spicy but it’s more of a sourish/tangy like it has a lot of vinegar. The server was trying her best and apologized for the taste of the wings. If they were not part of the special and i was paying regular price for those flavours it wouldn’t be a good deal.
When it’s a full house then there’s not a lot of space to wait (there’s really not a lot of space between the door and the bar).
T Win (☆ 2/5)

It was rush time. So they were so busy. I can totally understand. But we are waiting for order 20 min around. And when we order it was ppl were almost out. But our $15.99 burgers take 30 min around. I can’t understand why this burger costs $15.99.
It was not too special. And I thought servers gonna tell us ‘thank you for waiting’ or something…. 😉
Ruby (☆ 3/5)

Steak was good enough. Nothing special.
Kristin was lovely
Nice atmosphere inside, better than expected honestly. I like the wall paper and plants.
Lindsay Evans (☆ 4/5)

A friend and I were wanting wings on Wednesday night and we came across the $.29 wings at O’Sullivans. We met there for 6pm and although we had to wait for a table it was not a long wait at all. We were served by Portia and she was very personable and attentive. I tried the Electric Honey wings (waitresses suggestion) and they were great! Will definitely be coming back
Christyn Jayne (☆ 5/5)

Went for wing Wednesday with some fiends, between the 3 of us we got about 7 different wing flavors for 5 bucks! Drinks were decently priced too! Their Peach Kiss Martini is to die for!
Paige Bidyk (☆ 5/5)

Great spot to stop in for a quick bite and a few drinks. There’s always something going on, and the place has a lively, energetic vibe. It’s located conveniently near Chinook Mall, but the building itself is a bit unconventional, definitely not your typical layout. Still, it adds character, and overall it’s a great place that delivers on what you’re there for.»

This review is long over due!
This is my home away from home! I feel comfortable, safe, and have made life time friendships with staff, patrons, and musicians!
I have tried 2 items from the new menu and thoroughly enjoyed both. Compliments to the head chef and her staff!
The management team are observably supportive to each other and their bar staff, and friendly and inclusive to all!
Additionally they support many charitable causes, donating their own talents and skills, with musician friends doing the same!
With much love and admiration!
Marcella Phaneuf (☆ 5/5)

I love this bar. It’s not only the new Blind Beggar because I run into all my old musician friends here, the scene itself is alive and thriving. The staff is amazing, the service is attentive and personable and the place itself draws the finest of characters. Ask for Barb, Deb, Bri or any of the amazing bar staff employed here. Stop being afraid of this place and come have a genuine experience in history, hospitality and music! My favourite!
Chris Perkins (☆ 5/5)

Nice and quiet when I was there in the morning. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a great value. It was nice that someone finally knows how to cook the string hash browns properly. Will be back.
Alistair Jardine (☆ 4/5)

I’m changing my review because we got the worst service and food today. Our stakes were cooked the wrong temp. Twice. The fies were cheap shoe string and not fried properly. The gravy was water down and didn’t resemble any gravy I have ever had. It was gross. To the lady who sat down near by(I think she was the cook) she kept staring over her shoulder at me. That was creepy.
Overall a bad experience. Never going back.
If you’re going to raise your prices, make sure the quality of the food matches.
L. L. (☆ 1/5)

Very old «character» type 1960s/70s decorated, ( and never again since then), restaurant and bar with lunchtime, quite or very old-looking trades/labour men, drinking alcohol early in the day while talking politics and more. Prices are low for food which is more than acceptable for a diner.
Marc Rachiele (☆ 2/5)

First time visiting this pub.
Came out to listen to the live music. The band was really good. Nice size venue. The prices are reasonable. Looks like a local favorite place to socialize.
Sally Ragusa (☆ 4/5)

I have gone to this bar on multiple occasions every occasion has been different, but whenever the younger women are working they always are the best servers and the kindest I would definitely recommend this bar if they are working. Also, please give them the biggest tip possible I understand the location is not the best location for servers, but these women do the best they can, and they’re always very accommodating, but the older women that works there seems to be very racist and make you feel very unwelcome. I would go there more if I didn’t feel the intense racism as soon as I walk in the door or maybe she is just under pressure? (when the older woman is working, sorry but if you are a coloured female who has gone there I know you know). They also support local artists so I won’t completely put this business down but if they worked on the racism part I would definitely spend more money and more time there. This is not a hate post but more of just some constructive criticism… anyways good luck and hope you all succeed and realize not every coloured person is a bad person. I don’t think I will go here much longer unless the younger lady is working. She’s the best. Give her big tips if she does her best cause 17th isn’t the easier place to be a server.

Customer Reviews
Sole is a Korean karaoke lounge and restaurant. Nights here are very fun and inviting. The kareoke rooms are modern and very good up to date play lists. The staff here are super friendly and very hospitable. Food is terrific, I’ll suggest having the Ssam meat platter and chicken gizzards!.
If you and friends are looking for a fun and good night, Sole is a place to have a good time and to make new friends.
Call ahead for karaoke room reservations.
brandon lau (☆ 5/5)

The workers are super super rude. They came in abruptly multiple times and at the end of our session (at the very dot), they immediately told us to stop singing even though there was only 30 seconds left on the song. If there were more reservations coming then I would’ve understood why but we were one of the very few groups there. Terrible service. Would much rather go to Bacchus.
Danny Bui (☆ 1/5)

The food was delicious and the service was fast. We didn’t have to wait too long to be seated or to get our food. They also have a karaoke room. Would definitely recommend
Indira Ram (☆ 5/5)

I came here to do some karaoke with some drinks. The place was okay, it was a nice clean space. The room isn’t actually sound proof, and we could hear a little bit of the people in other rooms if music wasn’t playing. The lady who helped us wasn’t very inviting or giving positive vibes. She didn’t smile at us, not the best customer service. She didn’t seem interested in engaging with the customers at all. The bathrooms here are very clean with nice mirror.
Danica T (Nica) (☆ 3/5)

Service is fast and friendly. Food is okay and has a nice presentation, but pricey. Washrooms are maintained clean. Loved our girls’ night out with my coworkers!
Quennie Wanklin (☆ 5/5)

We had a blast! I hope more people read reviews instead of just looking at the average number of stars because this place is far so much better than how it is rated now.
I called them a day before, they replied fast and clear. Even if it’s a bit short notice, we got lucky that there’s still one room available for us for 2hours – even if we got there on their opening hour, they let us in already and we were able to order foods and drinks.
It’s not my first time at karaoke bars here in Calgary but this one is the BEST I’ve been to!
Rooms are spacious enough, and the lighting won’t give you seizures – it’s very eye-friendly (I can tell, because I’m sensitive with bright and/or moving lights)
Foods and drinks are awesome and are reasonably priced (not expensive at all). Service is remarkable – they made sure that we are comfortable and well-attended.
Songs are updated, easy to search (there are english translated words taped on the remote) and the microphones are sounding all good.
Overall, we loved it here and we will definitely come back! Thanks again to Kevin for accommodating us tonight.

Customer Reviews
Best karaoke I’ve been to yet. I’m not coming here for high quality drinks nor service. My rum and coke was very average and it took twenty minutes or so to get a drink. But the crowd here on a Friday night was far less grungy than other places I’ve been to for karaoke and I’d totally come back and it’d be easier to take my girlfriend here than other places. The acoustics for karaoke were fine – nothing glaringly obvious that was wrong. The lyrics were able to be clearly seen on a couple different screens. Also, because they’re using projectors for the screen, the bar isn’t awash with TV glare, so it makes easier to do the lighting better.
Jeremiah Hunter (☆ 4/5)

Showed up at Ducky’s for karaoke with a bachelorette party on Sunday, with 15 guests, and had a blast. The wait staff and bartenders were so fast and fun that the service felt easy and exactly properly timed. The fun vibe and high energy in the karaoke was a blast- we wanted to dance and we did! We wanted to sing and we did! We wanted to party with people and we did! Thanks for such a wonderful addition to a special night!
Rhiannon Marie George (☆ 5/5)

Karaoke was fun! I also appreciated the fun energy the person in charge of the karaoke had that night I visited. Bar was good at quick to notice you for an order.
E.M. Hernandez (☆ 5/5)

The more I go there, the more I like the place. Im pretty sure they have almost every song you could ever want to sing, or at least pretty close to it. The staff is always friendly, and the singers are all Top Notch Pros. The Bounce was also very courteous. And they have VLTs at seem to always hit big. Great Pub. Highly recommend if you have the chance
David Omeasoo (Daveed) (☆ 5/5)

Not sure what to make of this place. My first time going there and would probably be going back for a second opinion. The place was packed and apparently there was a birthday thing going on in the early evening and it leaked into the open karaoke time. Given how crowded it was I was surprised when I was called up she. I did. My wife ordered a Caesar which was smaller than we normally see, and in a wine glass. Waitress was good and the DJ was trying. Definitely worth a return trip
Carlos Walcott (☆ 3/5)

Everyone that works there looks like they hate their life. First time I went there the bouncer didn’t believe it was me in my id photo (I had a different haircut) and told me I’d need a second piece of id next time. There’s no atmosphere. Wouldn’t recommend there are much better karaoke places in the city
Gabrielle Racansky (☆ 1/5)

Even on a Monday night, it is still such a lively venue. If I am being honest going to hear Jay the Bartender sing is priority. All of the staff are super nice and supportive of all the singers brave enough to sing. Not to sound cheesy but it’s similar to CHEERS. If you enjoy pool and listening to the nightly kereoke this is the place.

I’d come here a few times since I moved to Calgary a year and a half ago. Always appreciated Gord at the bar remembering my usual drink, the selection of sports available to watch, and the food was perfectly good pub grub.
Checked their website recently and saw it was updated, with a new menu. It was Saturday and the daily special was steak frites, so I decided to try it out while watching playoff hockey. (Note: it was UFC Night so most TVs had that on, along with the sound system).
Got there just after the game started and sat myself, waited a few minutes until a server noticed me, asked if I’d been helped yet, then another one came over, gave me a food menu and took my drink order. She brought me my drink, and then disappeared for over half an hour. I saw her hanging out by the bar, and back by the kitchen, but didn’t see her working the floor much.
It was almost the end of the period and I’d decided I was going to leave at intermission, when I got her attention and she came over. I ordered the steak frites, medium. She brought it out in a timely manner. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe medium is still pink. This was closer to well done, see photo.
The place wasn’t terribly busy when I left, maybe half full.

My friend and I popped into your pub today for a drink and the service was exceptional. Your server, Jillian made us feel very welcome. She was very a attentive, patient and always smiling. She checked on us made sure we were are ok and was always to take additional orders.
I would definitely recommend this place. Even though I mentioned it n person, I would like to say a big thank you to Jillian for her service.

Chicken tenders and Badass .Also Chicken tacos all dishes very good.. Food came hot.
The pub became busy after a little later in the evening. Karaoke nights. The atmosphere….the booths run down and worn. Bathroom very clean.Service and hospitality excellent!!

Down to earth joint with a fun crowd. Really wish the food taste was better. Fish n chips – the fish was just too oily and the butter chicken was just too «sweet and processed/TV/Dinnery»… will be back though for the drinks and fun times. Service was a bit of a hit n miss.

I was just here for Tuesday movie night and had such a great time! The staff is so amazing and friendly! They had a new food menu and everything looks so delicious, I had the cajin chicken club. was not disappointed! 10/10 would recommend to anyone to check out this pub. It is my favourite pub in the city.

This was my first and last time here. I ordered a pick up order for the BBQ mushroom funguy burger with fries and gravy. The burger was disgusting. It was soggy, the toppings where old, the burger patties had fat and grease slime on them. The where also not cooked. The patties where pink. They charge 2 dollars extra for a tiny container of gravy. Tried calling to talk to a manager and he was rude. He said he had no problem with the burgers and maybe it was just mine. Definitely won’t be back.

I didn’t know what to expect when I went into watchman’s. The stools are a little bit worn and the bar has had a pass reputation of being not the best place to go. I came in on a Tuesday night and was surprised to find out that they were having a movie night. I came in and was met with smiles from both the staff members Jeremy, and alex.
There was also a brand new food menu and I got to try the salmon poke bowl. I was surprised to see something like that at a pub but it was delicious. I would recommend 10 out of 10

So this was a great little pub! This was our regular neighbourhood pub, This was as our «go to» place… however I have been there 2 times recently and the service is horrendous!!
1st time we sat for 40 min waiting to be approached by a server. I eventually had to go ask the bartender if they had a waitress. It wasn’t busy there were maybe 2 other tables.
2nd time we sat on the outdoor patio, immediately made contact with the server. Again there was one other table and us. She proceeded to walk past us with empty hands, she stopped and let us know she would be back with menus, never once took a drink order, she walked past multiple times with empty hands. When she started wiping the table beside us we left!!
The food is decent, but the servers at this pub are completely useless! Time to clean house and hire proper staff!

I mean you get what you pay for. The daily deals are pretty crazy, don’t pay for anything full price! The pork ribs were a bit disappointing— tough and dry. The chicken was good, 2 pounds but it feels like much more! A bit fatty but that’s fine by me. Pretty cool atmosphere. Great spot for wings night!

Catching Kinjo & Young at the Regal Beagle! Food is great, service is great, and the band is out of this world. I would listen to these guys any day. Five stars all around.

This pub has been a good find. I’ve stopped by a couple of times, and the food has been consistently decent, the Philly Cheesesteak is a solid choice. They have Sapporo beer on tap, and their house lager is perfectly drinkable. It’s also nice that they welcome dogs on the patio. Servers have been friendly and competent. I’d certainly come back.

Really loved the ambiance here, would visit again. Booking a table was easy, went to see a playoff game and stated so when booking, table was ready, chosen so we had good view of screens, and service was excellent and courteous throughout our eve there. Tried some new wings, everything was delish. Overall had a really pleasant eve, except the Oilers lost!
Fatima Keshavjee (☆ 5/5)

This place was awesome! A friend and I decided to go here when we couldn’t find a movie that we wanted to see. And that turns out it was for the best.
They had a couple events going on which includes music bingo, name-that-tune, and karaoke. We played the games, cheered on the crowd, and sang some songs. We may not have won anything, but we had the best time.
The food was truly excellent. We had appetizers, and they were not only a comfort food, but they satisfied a lot of cravings. I can’t wait to try some more at a later date. By the warmth and flavors of these foods you can tell that there is a lot of love here.
The place was also clean and comfortable. They have a playful, but down-to-earth ambiance that makes a person feel both energetic and at ease. I loved a lot of their random signs on the walls. It’s so funny how a Pub like this can feel like home.
The people were absolutely wonderful. Our server was named Dan and he was a treasure. He was funny with a great sense of humor, and he gave good recommendations when he wasn’t answering our questions.
This is definitely a place to go when you want to hang out with friends or make some new ones. A place where any event can be held, and everybody leaves with a smile on their face.
Erika Ravnsborg (☆ 5/5)

A fun time, good food, good drinks. Service was friendly and helpful. Went for a name that tune night and had a blast. I discovered that my love of tater tots and my love of poutine mix here, though they probably shouldn’t.

Customer Reviews
I live nearby, usually go to the BB down the road. Came here for Saturday night wing night and to watch the oilers game. It was a little busy but not packed. Took 15 minutes to get a drink once we ordered. It took 35 minutes to get the wings.. on wing night. As seen in the pictures, the S&P were so not seasoned well enough. The garlic Parmesan were falsely advertised as a sauce. The waitress was okay. We had to ask for water and plates. You had to smoke by the sidewalk in the grass, where there’s no ashtray and it was littered with cigarette butts. Go figure. The atmosphere is nice. Sound on the TV’s can be better for a sports bar.
Cassidy Morriseau (☆ 2/5)

Food was excellent! We had the lunch special (chicken sub) and the dry ribs. We live nearby and will definitely be back!
We keep coming for the breakfast. Absolutely tastey and service is great!

The atmosphere and food were good. Lots of Tvs to watch sports. They also do little specials when the Calgary Flames are playing. Go Leafs Go! Haha. Our pizza was well done and very delicious, we ordered the viking pizza. Our poutine was amazing, the gravy was mint The reasoning for the 4 out of 5 stars is because of our waitress. We are pretty understanding people and understand sometimes you have your bad and good days. But she was very up and down with her mood. Twirl her eyes when we asked for something or just plop our drinks and food down. Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves and was a little disappointed we missed out on karaoke

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting—plenty of TVs, a welcoming bar, and even a dog‑friendly patio when weather permits .
If you’re after a fun, casual spot with solid pub fare, sports on big screens, and friendly staff, Captain’s is a standout. Highly recommended!

Customer Reviews
Just my friend and I went here, it was fun! Its a little confusing how to use the machine (we were instructed) but it doesn’t take long to figure it out with guidance. I wish it was a bit easier to look up songs, since with the tablet it seems to force you to have a genre. However with the other keyboard that wasn’t an issue.
I found it considerably nice that when I complained of migraines due to the flashing lights, we were promptly moved to a different room that had better lighting control. The flashing lights did turn back on towards the end (10 minutes till we left) but I know that if I asked they would have fixed it.
Didn’t get any alcohol, but did get their fried dumplings! They were yummy.
The one thing that was kind of annoying to me was the sound proofing. It didn’t bother my friend, but I could hear the music outside of our room very clearly and it was overstimulating. However, if you don’t have sound sensitivity this probably won’t be a problem and can be ignored.
Thank you for being so kind with my migraine struggles! This was my first time at a karaoke bar, and I was nervous about it.
Kæl Willowberry (☆ 4/5)

I think this place overall is pretty awesome. The food choices are very limited. However, the drinks are not that expensive. Very high-quality karaoke. It’s a little bit tough. If you’re not Korean to figure out all the controls, but a good selection of songs, and a super fun place to take your friends if you just wanna let it all out in a small room Lol
Oksana Tcherbak (☆ 5/5)

I came here for a friend’s birthday party and I found it very underwhelming. The song bank of english songs was quite small and and we struggled to search and input songs. Some songs wouldn’t register in the queue, no matter how many times we selected it – the machine gave no indication as to whether the song had been added or not. I think we spent probably a quarter of our time fighting with the machine to add songs. The ads and arbitrary scoring system between songs felt unnecessary, especially considering you’re paying by the hour.
They asked if we wanted water for the room at the start and they only brought us one pitcher for 12 people – we had to go back and ask for 2 more. Drinks were a decent price though none of us ordered food since we’d eaten elsewhere before coming so I can’t speak for it.
I also wish we could’ve controlled the party lights in the room more. One of our group had epilepsy and though we informed the staff, all they could do was turn all the party lights off – it was really all or none with no in between.
Mari Bakk (☆ 2/5)

Very nice place! Been there 4 times already. Rooms are crazy nice and spacious enough. Would’ve liked the top lights off, but unfortunately wasn’t able to
Uday Angrish (☆ 5/5)

Staff is great – really accommodating. I asked for a 5 min extension cause some of my friends were late and they approved it. Food is okay (nachos were glued together cause the melted cheese cooled in like 20 mins). Wish they had more songs in their catalogue tho, which is why they get 4 stars.
Sidak Bachher (☆ 4/5)

So fun for karaoke! Rooms are spacious and high quality and service was great! Also has free parking on site and it was easy to reserve for our group online
Azra Kassam (☆ 5/5)

If you’re a fun group and easy to please this is a great spot! The club button is the funniest and greatest button to have in the room!

Frequently Asked Questions about Karaoke Bars in Calgary
What are the general hours of operation for karaoke bars in Calgary?
Most karaoke bars in Calgary generally operate in the evenings, often opening around 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM and staying open until 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM on weekends. Some locations may have earlier hours on weekdays, or offer daytime karaoke sessions, but evening hours are the most common. It's always a good idea to check the specific bar's website or call ahead to confirm their current operating hours.
Do I need to know how to sing to go to a karaoke bar?
Absolutely not! Karaoke is all about having fun and entertainment, and no one expects professional-level singing. Many patrons are enthusiastic but not particularly skilled. The point is to let loose, enjoy the atmosphere, and participate in the shared experience. Some bars even encourage "shout singers" or those who simply enjoy the energy of the crowd.
How do I choose a song to sing?
Most karaoke bars have extensive song lists, often searchable online or through a computer system at the venue. You can usually browse by artist, song title, or genre. Some bars offer a request system where you can queue songs, while others allow you to choose songs on a first-come, first-served basis. It's a good idea to choose something you’re comfortable with and that you think the crowd will enjoy!
What is the typical cost of karaoke?
The cost of karaoke can vary. Some bars offer free karaoke with a minimum purchase of food or drinks. Others charge a per-song fee, which can range from approximately $3 to $10 per song, depending on the location and popularity. Group rates are sometimes available. Confirm the pricing structure before you commit to singing.
Is it possible to book a private karaoke room?
Many karaoke bars in Calgary offer private karaoke rooms for group bookings. These rooms are ideal for birthday parties, corporate events, or other special occasions. Booking a private room typically involves a minimum spend requirement or a rental fee. Early booking is often necessary, especially for weekend evenings.
What kind of music selection can I expect?
Most karaoke venues strive to offer a diverse music selection to appeal to a wide range of tastes. You can generally expect to find a mix of classic rock, pop, country, R&B, and other popular genres. The best way to know the exact selection is to check the bar’s online song list or ask the staff.
What is the appropriate etiquette for karaoke?
Good karaoke etiquette is essential for a positive experience. It includes being respectful of other singers, avoiding lengthy song requests, allowing others a chance to sing, and cheering on all performers. It’s also polite to keep the volume at a manageable level and avoid blocking the stage.
Are there age restrictions for entering karaoke bars?
Most karaoke bars in Calgary adhere to Alberta's drinking age of 18 years old. Some venues may have stricter policies and require patrons to be 20 years old or older. Always check the bar’s policy regarding age verification before attending, as identification may be required.
Can I bring my own music or backing tracks?
Generally, karaoke bars do not allow patrons to bring their own music or backing tracks. They have licensing agreements for the songs they offer, and introducing external music can violate those agreements. Using the bar’s song list ensures everyone is following the legal and licensing guidelines.
What are some of the most popular karaoke bars in Calgary?
Several karaoke bars in Calgary are well-regarded. Some commonly mentioned include those offering a wide selection of songs, a lively atmosphere, and good sound quality. It's advisable to research current reviews and recommendations online to find the best fit for your preferences and group size. Checking online platforms can help you find a good option.
