Returned to Native Tongues Taqueria for dinner after a long time — and it was like coming home to a familiar favorite.
Nothing has changed, and that’s exactly what makes this place so special. The food remains outstanding: vibrant, fresh, and packed with authentic Mexican flavor. Every dish we tried was crafted with care and tasted just as amazing as we remembered.
Service was impressively fast, and the servers were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming — a true reflection of the hospitality NTT is known for. The prices are more than fair, especially considering the exceptional quality of the ingredients and overall experience.
A big thank you to the entire team at Native Tongues for another memorable meal. It’s places like this that remind you why you keep coming back.

Very solid taco restaurant with generous late night happy hour and mezcal selection.
The tacos are good with decent flavour and variety. The drinks are pretty good too, which is an added bonus.
It’s a solid late night choice if you are in the area, and a favourite for the younger crowd because of their prices and late night happy hour.

This was our first visit to the restaurant. Overall, most dishes tasted good, but nearly all the tacos were excessively greasy. However, the barbecue had a unique and spectacular flavor; we ordered two servings, and this dish is a must-try. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the quesabirria broth because half of it was like oil.
On the bright side, the guacamole, beer, and Papas Norteñas were fantastic and highly recommended. I particularly ordered the alambre, which was truly exquisite.
We did encounter one issue: a long blonde hair was found on one of our plates. By the time we noticed it, we had already made significant progress on that dish, so it was too late to say anything about it.
Another mishap occurred when the waiter brought one of the flans to our table; he accidentally spilled the sticky liquid on my daughter's arm, and because he was in a hurry, he didn't notice. We had to clean it up ourselves.
The desserts were good, and the taste of the café de olla reminded me of home. The carajillo is also a must-try.
I would return to this restaurant for the dishes we enjoyed, but I recommend making reservations.

As a Mexican constantly traveling between Canada, the US and Mexico, trying new Mexican restaurants has become a hobby of mine. I reserve 5 stars only for the very best Mexican food. Native Tongues is certainly deserving of 5 stars. To start, al pastor tacos are the most authentic I’ve had in Canada. True to the roots, cooked in a trompo (gyro), nicely marinated with a touch of pineapple. These al pastor tacos truly tasted like home. The carnitas, carne asada and quesabirria are also great choices and a must try. For drinks, I’ve tried the Paloma and classic michelada with the michelada being my recommendation as it not only tastes great but also tastes like one straight from Mexico City. The only item that was not as great was their Horchata. I’d skip it as it’s a very small size and the flavor is ok at best. Lastly, be aware the prices are high for the food you’re getting. While the food is amazing, the portion sizes are quite small.

Every time we’re in Calgary, Native Tongues is a must. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home — the staff are always so warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere has that perfect mix of cool and cozy. The tacos? Next-level. Bursting with flavor, perfectly crafted, and honestly addictive. My go-to is the frijoles
And can we take a moment for the margaritas? They’re seriously dangerous (in the best way). Fresh, tangy, and just the right kick — they always hit the spot. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out on one of Calgary’s best hidden gems!

Really amazing selection of delicious tacos. Absolutely recommend trying the pork belly taco. Also a great selection of cocktails and beers.

Disappointed by the limited chicken options on the menu. The chips and salsa tasting felt underwhelming — more like store-bought nachos with off-the-shelf Walmart salsas. Lacked the bold, fresh flavors I was expecting. We also ordered a margarita, and surprisingly, it was served in the same cup they use for water, with a half-hearted salt rim. For a Mexican restaurant, the presentation and attention to detail just weren’t there.
