Your mileage may vary, this is just my experience.
I was looking for some legal assistance with a civil matter and called this firm to help me draft a cease & desist letter. Over the phone I've been told that it would be $375 (+ GST) for a consultation and 1-2-3 hours of lawyer time to make a letter, depending on the case. Person on the phone assured me that they have a lawyer who is experienced with situations like mine, which could be true. I also had another quote of $1.5k for the same service from another firm, but I went ahead with O&S after seeing good reviews and ballparking the potential price.
The lawyer that I spoke to was knowledgeable, however I didn't hear anything new to be honest. Then he said that a retainer fee would be 5k$. Quite the difference compared to what I heard over the phone, unless they're charging 1.5-2.5k$ per hour. I think I'll pass.
Thanks for nothing I guess. You guys can go ahead and send me angry emails.
