In the heart of Calgary's Beltline, where the urban pulse meets the warmth of a Scottish hearth, Pig & Duke stands as a testament to the enduring charm of the neighborhood pub. It's a Sunday, and the city's denizens are in search of solace from the week's tribulations. Here, they find it in spades.
The moment you cross the threshold, the pub's atmosphere envelops you like a well-worn tartan blanket. The air is thick with the promise of comfort food and the gentle hum of contentment. It's a place where time slows down, and the worries of the world outside seem to dissipate with each sip of your drink.
Speaking of drinks, the all-day happy hour is a siren call to the thrifty and the thirsty alike. A Jameson, straight and unapologetic, arrives at the table – a liquid handshake from the Emerald Isle. Alongside it, an old fashioned, its amber depths holding the wisdom of countless barkeeps
The menu, a culinary tapestry woven with threads of Scottish tradition and pub fare ingenuity, presents its stars: the Steak Sandwich and Meatloaf. The steak, a cut above the usual pub grub, arrives with a swagger, flanked by crispy onion rings that shatter with a satisfying crunch. The meatloaf, often a humble afterthought in lesser establishments, here becomes a revelation – a comfort food phoenix risen from the ashes of mediocrity
A Caesar salad provides a crisp counterpoint, its leaves standing at attention, dressed in a garlic-anchovy emulsion that whispers of Roman feasts. And then, as if orchestrated by the ghost of William Wallace himself, a cheesecake appears. It's a dessert that doesn't so much end the meal as it does put a velvet exclamation point on the experience
The service, a ballet of efficiency and warmth, elevates the experience from mere dining to a form of gastronomic theater. Each interaction is infused with a genuine desire to please, a rarity in an age where hospitality often feels as mass-produced as fast food
As the afternoon light filters through the windows, casting a golden glow on the patrons, it becomes clear that Pig & Duke is more than just a pub. It's a sanctuary for the soul, a place where the simple act of breaking bread becomes a celebration of life's small pleasures
In a city teeming with culinary options, Pig & Duke carves out its niche with the precision of a Highland claymore. It's not just a spot for Sunday brunch; it's a weekly pilgrimage, a ritual that promises to soothe the spirit and fortify the body. In the grand tapestry of Calgary's dining scene, Pig & Duke is a thread of pure gold – essential, gleaming, and undeniably precious

A great local pub for drinks (large choice of beer) food and to watch sports. Our waitress was friendly, efficient and helpful. We ordered a half order of nachos with the spicy boar meat on top. It was plenty to share for 2 people. Very tasty nachos but we would have preferred the meat to be a little more spicy which is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5. I have had the Korean sirloin bites before and they were delicious. Fairly large menu and food is good. Fun spot to go and watch sports.

After not seeing my wife for awhile, we made our way to this wholesome neighborhood pub. The lovely lady who served us was very attentive, the Wednesday wings were lovely and the atmosphere is modern and inviting so I would highly recommend this place if you are hungry for wings on a Wednesday or any time. Thank you nice waitress lady and to my beautoful wife for making this soirée memorable.

Extremely disappointing experience. I came in for a beer after work , my first time at this establishment and was met with some of the most unwelcoming service I’ve encountered in years.
The bartender was efficient when I first approached the bar, but after being told to take a seat and that someone would serve me, things went downhill fast. My server was noticeably rude from the start. The moment I mentioned I wasn’t ordering food, just drinks, her tone changed entirely. When I asked for another round, I was met with an eye roll. And when I requested the bill, there was no verbal acknowledgment, just the debit machine slapped down on the table and left without a word.
I’ve worked in hospitality for over six years, including four as a server, so I understand the pressures of the job. But this wasn’t just a bad day.... it was a complete lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. After mentioning the experience to friends, I found out this isn’t an isolated incident. Apparently, rude service is a recurring issue here. Not a good look, especially for a first-time guest!! I won’t be returning and I certainly won’t be recommending this place to anyone.
Absolutely not worth the attitude! There are too many places in this city that understand the meaning of hospitality, this one clearly doesn’t. If basic respect is too much to ask, maybe it’s time to reconsider who’s representing your business. If this is your standard of service, I’m genuinely shocked you have regulars at all!!

Soooo fun! Karaoke on a Saturday night ! Know the people that go up actually can sing here! Happy & fun atmosphere! Drinks were quick and had the option of getting served by a waitress or going to the bar. Very attentive and friendly.
