Perfectly filled a pasta craving!

Late-night and craving pasta for dinner this ended up being the perfect choice. We opted for takeout and the service was quick. Everything was packaged nicely.

The Gorgonzola Pear Ravioli was phenomenal. Every bite was delicious and the slightly peppered cream sauce perfectly paired it.

We also had a build your own and we’re very pleased with all the options.

The cheese cake is also a must have.

I have been here only 2 times so far for dinner and every single time everything is just wonderful. Starting from the food to the staff. Our host waitress was Jeissa , she was very nice, friendly and always willing to help us with anything we needed. ☺️Also the chef did an exquisite job with his pastas . As an European suffering to find a good restaurant for pasta, i would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try delicious food. 100/10

The food tasted pretty good, but my partner got very sick (food poisoning). The basic agreement with restaurants is that they’ll provide you food and you’ll be able to keep it down. As a general rule, if you get food poisoning at a restaurant, you should not try them again. And for this reason, we will not be coming back.

Update: The manager reached out to my partner to straighten things out. Bumping the review up for great service.

Amazing experience at YYC Pasta Bar on 17th Ave! The Gorgonzola & Pear Ravioli with chicken was the best I’ve ever had—so rich and flavorful. The Pesto Penne Pasta was delicious too! Our server, Ari, was friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even better. Great food, great service—definitely coming back!

My first opportunity trying this Italian restaurant on 17th Avenue near 14th street west. Was pleasantly surprised with both the quality and the value I experienced while dining here. My mom & I wanted to stop for a late lunch after a downtown errand and this place definitely hit the spot. Carlos was our host/server and he was both friendly and attentive. We chose a nice window-side table then ordered 2 excellent meals. I had the fettuccine with Italian sausage in a nicely spiced arrabiata tomato sauce. My mother chose the spaghetti with clams in a white wine sauce. Neither one of us had room for dessert because the portions were ample. I did however, look over the post-meal menu and was enticed by items like blueberry cheesecake, chocolate cake, and of course… tiramisu. I believe that I am very likely returning to this restaurant at some point as I am visiting Calgary often. I would rate this business as a solid 8.7 out of 10 for service, quality of food, and a comfortable atmosphere. Didn’t have a chance to try anything off of their nice wine selection. Next time I will make a point of it.

We had a fantastic dinner at this place yesterday. We went there for their half-price bottles of wine and were thoroughly impressed. The food was amazing, even though it was busy for a Wednesday night. One thing that truly set this place apart was the exceptional service. Despite the crowd, one server managed to take care of all the tables inside and outside, ensuring that our food arrived promptly and our drinks were always on time. We’ve been to many places, and when it’s busy, the service usually gets slower and less attentive, but surprisingly, not here. We’ll definitely be back to try other dishes on their menu.

We had such a great experience at the yyc pasta bar! We got to try this off-menu lamb shank pesto risotto for $28, and it was totally worth it—huge portion and the lamb was so tender it just fell apart. The head chef even came out to see how we liked it, which was a nice touch. The staff was super attentive, especially our waitress, who kept checking in to make sure everything was perfect. We also ordered their pasta, calamari, and cheese toast, and they were all really tasty!

The drinks were good. The ambience is truly an experience sitting in there – feels quite fancy & you don’t feel like you are in Calgary anymore. The pasta was pillow soft. We got the vegetarian dish with pesto & thoroughly enjoyed it. The eggplant dish that we ordered to share was out of this world… We ordered calamari as an appetizer which was a bit too salty & wasn’t that great. The food is definitely on the heavier side but worth going on!!also I’m sure that their meat & seafood dishes are prime which we couldn’t try.
We ended our dining experience with the tiramisu – it was truly so good

Went for a celebration w/ my fiancé, the service was attentive and I enjoyed the environment & look of the location. I had the special ( pork loin/chops) & he had the beef strip loin, his only suggestion was the sauce needed more to it but I quite enjoyed my own plate. He’s been to this restaurant for the third time and seemed a bit disappointed with this time around.

Went for an anniversary dinner. The restaurant was so beautiful and it was on our bucket list to try. To eat we had the olives, the bolognese pasta, and the 32oz steak. To drink we got a mojito and a stout beer. The pasta was the highlight the steak was okay. The focaccia bread was super salty. For the price, we have had better. As well, the service didn’t «fit» the restaurant (ex. The food would come as we still had our finished plates in front of us, once it got busy the manager had to step in to help…etc).

I had a YYC exp lunch there and I will definitely come back. The food is flawless especially the soup has a perfect combination of several flavors. I don’t have the photo of the soup because my phone was dead and the waiter helped me with a charger so I must give 5 stars to the service☺️

Looking for a nice intimate evening or drinks and appetizers at the bar, this restaurant will not disappoint. My husband and I had dinner there on Saturday evening, the appetizers and caesar salad before our main course were delicious, the mains were a lovely choice and we don’t usually do desserts, this evening we each had a dessert, I paired my with a lovely DOMAINE POUDEROUX Maury.
Our server Shouko was lovely, friendly and made sure our experience was fabulous. Taylor the Somali helped Greg chose a lovely 2019 Brunello di Montalcino to pair with our dinner. Thank-you for a lovely evening.

Many of our guests have told us how amazing everything was and we honestly are in awe at how everything came together. Rea’s Italian Cucina is a gem! We came in with a large group and were blown away by the amazing service- attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious and tasted authentically Italian in every bite. From the fresh pasta to the perfectly seasoned sauces, everything was on point. Can’t recommend it enough, this place is a must-visit for anyone who loves real Italian cuisine and top-tier hospitality.

Talk about a hidden gem, Rea’s Italian Cucina is a delightful restaurant offering an authentic Italian dining experience. This family run establishment has a warm and inviting ambiance that makes you feel like you’re a guest in someone’s home.

Rea’s menu is extensive with a wide array of traditional Italian dishes crafted from fresh, high-quality ingredients. There’s something for everyone here including classic pasta dishes like Spaghetti Carbonara and Lasagna, thin-crust pizzas and hearty entrees. Everything was cooked to perfection and portion sizes were generous.

We found the service to be excellent – honestly what you would expect being served by one of your own family members. We got recommendations on both meals and wine pairing for the evening and never felt any pressure or upselling. The staff was obviously very knowledgeable and genuinely focused on us having the best experience possible.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is comfortable but I wouldn’t say it’s trendy. I personally see this as a positive given all the focus and energy is put into the food. I think this would be a great place for any occasion and they seem to be able to accommodate larger groups. A reservation is recommended given the popularity and modest seating available.

Rea’s is a must-try for anyone seeking a genuine taste of Italy!

One occasionally stumbles upon a dining experience that stirs the senses with quiet sophistication rather than ostentatious flair. Such was the case at Rea’s Italian Restaurant, a modest yet confident establishment where the essence of multi- generation family Italian gastronomy is executed with genuine respect for tradition. This eatery was mentioned to me by locals I met during my time visiting Calgary Stampede, who spoke highly of this being one of the most authentic Italian restaurants in the city.

Upon entering, one is met not with theatrical bravado, but with an understated charm. The interiors lean pictured with family photos of past generations: a mural of the family at the entrance, and colors that were similar to the Spanish red’s I have seen during my European travels. There is an intimacy to the space, with many folks walking through the door, greeted by name and smile from the staff.

To the food, then. Over the course of the three visits, I fancied a variety of dishes. The homemade Rea’s meatballs arrived with a studied elegance: fresh parmesan and herbs, and arrived with a visible draft of steam. The Sandro Special pizza, slivers of prosciutto that melted on the tongue, paired with olives, green peppers and a capocollo of commendable bite. The pasta—Fusilli Ferraro, a family signature dish was a triumph of restraint.

The main course, a braised veal shank with pasta, was unctuous and unhurried, falling from the bone with an ease that only comes from proper, patient cookery. It was rustic with flavor and herbs—a balance many aim for, few achieve.

Now, a word on the wine. I inquired with my server Dante, of looking for something from a smaller Italian vineyard in Italy. The list, while not encyclopaedic, is curated with care. There is a pleasing balance of old-world depth and regional specificity. I took my server’s recommendation, a 2021 Brancaia Tre. A blend of grape varieties from the Tuscan vineyards of Maremma, Castellina, & Radda. This well structured, medium-bodied wine played beautifully across the meal. One suspects the sommelier (Dante), should one be brave enough to call upon him, has a few rare bottles tucked away for those who speak the right language.

Service, I might add, was deft and warm. No overbearing interruptions, no robotic recitations—just timely, knowledgeable attention delivered with that rare blend of family hospitality and pride. A word on the location, just perfectly north of downtown, with the ability to get a last minute bar seat. However, a reservation would be necessary if I returned with my mates.

In sum, Rea’s Italian Restaurant is not the place for spectacle or reinvention. It is a place where the family traditions are revered, where ingredients and multi-generational family recipe’s are honoured, and where the wine is never an afterthought. A quiet triumph, and one to which I shall most certainly return next year when visiting Calgary Stampede 2026.

Came here once for dine-in and we had great service and food. Was thoroughly disappointed with our takeout order tonight though. I ordered gluten free pasta (for an intolerance, not celiac). My pasta came in a bag with unwrapped buns directly on top of the pasta container – crumbs all over the lid. There was no way to take the lid off without getting crumbs in my food. Had to throw the whole dish out

Went here for a little friend gathering. The experience was ok, the food was underwhelming, not bad but nothing to write home about. Also for what it was, I would not say it was a value proposition.

I think the pickture says a lot about missing zing and some flavour. When in doubt I always say add fresh basil.

It was ok, so give a try and see. I def think not in the top 5 Italian restaurants of yyc.

Delicious Italian food in a cozy environment, especially the basement. I liked how old school it felt. Waiters were attentive and welcoming. Just amazing!! The quality of the food, the flavours and the presentation is unbelievable. I never thought I could have a pizza this good outside of Italy but we were blown away. Everything was delicious, we had arancini for appetizer, D.O.P. margherita and Jeremiah pizzas. For dessert we had a cannolo and Tiramisu. We were celebrating our anniversary so we got complimentary sparkling wine, amazing as well.
The atmosphere was great as well as the service and attention. Will definitely be back.

Overall me and my son enjoyed our stay here. The staff are very attentive but not intrusive. My son can’t eat meat and fish for health reasons and there are five or six choices of pizza with vegetables and it was delicious. You can also order Italian desserts, wines or beers. Not sure about the coffee, I don’t think so.
A big plus is that the pizza is baked in a wood-fired oven. It is a special flavor and appearance of pizza.
In the warm season there are wooden tables and benches outside (enough space for a company of 7-8 people), everywhere spicy herbs in pots, tomatoes and herbs. Inside is also good. In general, I recommend it as a place where you can eat a good European pizza, although I like the pizza dough a little different, but it’s a small thing.

This place offers a full menu, but the pizza is easily the star. I ordered a classic Margherita and a eggplant pizza they were both impressive. The crust was perfectly baked—crispy on the edges and soft in the center—and the flavors were well-balanced. The tomato sauce tasted fresh and slightly tangy, and the cheese was rich and melted evenly across each slice. Toppings were generous without overwhelming the base. If you’re coming here for pizza, you won’t be disappointed—it’s clear they put real care into getting it just right. And thanks to the servers they really made us feel welcome.

I’ve been going to Pizza Culture every once in a while over the past few months after a friend recommended it. I’ve dined at many restaurants across Calgary — from small local spots to high-end venues — and I can say without a doubt that Pizza Culture is my favorite overall.

The pizza selection is incredible. There’s something for everyone, and I’ve never had a single menu item that missed the mark. The cocktails are consistently on point, perfectly made every time.

My friends and I make a habit of getting to know the staff when we visit, and the service is always outstanding. Pamela, in particular, stands out for her warmth and attentiveness. I also had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy, the owner, who is genuinely kind and welcoming.

Pizza Culture is a must-try. If I could rate it 15 out of 10, I would.

We visited this cafe for our anniversary. We came from Edmonton just to try this incredible pizza. And it was worth it! In the cafe such a compliment to our anniversary, they brought us a glass of champagne, special thanks for that. The pizza tasted great with thin dough and crispy sides. I’m back in Italy for a moment! We took focacha to take away and enjoyed this fluffy bread with herbs at home! We also ordered cannoli, but they didn’t inspire me, I think it’s for an amateur.

I will recommend this place and will definitely visit it again passing by Calgary!

This place is possibly one of my favorite places to eat in the city, it was my first visit for dinner and I have nothing bad to say! Our server George was knowledgeable and witty, he spent time talking with us and making recommendations but didn’t stand wrong and long. The food is to die for and we had a lovely bottle of red and tiramisu for dessert. The ambiance, music and vibe were all on point too! I must visit location in Calgary for an amazing dinner

Great atmosphere and food especially on the patio the only downside of the evening was service and communication from our initial booking.

Had booked in advance as had some dietary requirements for two of our party (pregnant and immunocompromised) when we got sat and gave our order nothing was asked about allergies I thought they already knew. As one of our party is immunocompromised they can’t have cheeses made from raw milk grated over the food.

I had asked all this in advance before booking and was told no problem. So when some of the dishes came like the meatballs and arancini they are covered in cheese. As you can see. So that wasn’t good.

Then I asked for two glasses of bubbly as we were celebrating my bday. The waiter asked what are we celebrating? and I said my bday and he was surprised and said oh. (I had said this before booking in my emails) I’m not expecting any sparkles or cake or anything free but it was clear to me that there was no communication about my booking and dietary needs to the staff. That was sad and concerning.

Unfortunately we had about 30 mins wait from end of antipasti/starters to main course (kitchen was backed up) that happens so not the end of the world. However no one came and checked in and just left us sat there with an empty table.

Overall the atmosphere and food were good just sad for a special occasion the servers didn’t really know what was going on. Also to top it off you can’t tip lower than 20% I was told after by one of our party. Which I think for that night didn’t reflect the service we were given. Hope communication gets better moving forward as the place is lovely and would go back for sure.

Bonterra isn’t new and trending but they consistently deliver tasty food and great service. We are long time diners (we had our wedding there many many years ago) and have continued to enjoy the evolving menus and options. The patio is still beautiful and the wine room a great place for small gatherings. This last visit we tried the Date Night which was a nice assortment of appetizers and desserts with a choice of main – would recommend for anyone hoping to get a glimpse into the regular al a carte menu.

One of the best meals and dining experiences we’ve ever had!! Dwalu was our server and he was impeccable! His energy was unreal, and walked us through the specials and the menu. We sat at the patio and we felt like we were teleported to Italy, such beautiful decor and ambience. The food was so delicious and came out fast! I had the gnocchi and it was *chef’s kiss*. My fiancée and I came to celebrate our engagement and the whole Bonterra Trattoria team made it the most special evening! Bringing us champagne, dessert, and even a card signed by the team, this made the night 100/10! Highly, highly recommend!

Despite having a reservation in a private area for a birthday, we still had to wait probably around 45 minutes at the bar which is not ideal at all especially since we had other plans after.. I understand waiting a bit as restaurants do get extremely busy, but 45 minutes is kind of a reach especially if we booked a reservation. The staff were decent, but our server was a sweetheart. I ordered a risotto and it was delicious. The atmosphere is loud, but reasonably so as it was busy. Wish I could have tried more food as from what I tried, the food was great but we were on a bit of a time crunch after waiting.

What a fantastic Italian restaurant! So glad I stopped here for supper. Absolutely love the atmosphere. Soft music playing in the background so diners can actually carry on conversations (coming back tomorrow with group of 6). Food and service were most definitely 5 star. This is now my go to Italian restaurant when I’m in Calgary.

We arrived and were sat at a small table in the middle of the aisle in front of the kitchean doors there was traffic all around us making our visit uncomfortable. It was definitely lacking comfort . I mentioned to the hostess but she said yah it’s a buzy place . We ordered Caesar salad it was quick and tasty as well as the dinner buns .We ordered the T bone steak and upgraded to fettuccine with it and a baked lasagna . The food came out well presented on the plate . The lasagna was oh so good . The steak however was the wordy cut of meat I’ve endured for the cost . The plate was 34 dollars plus fettuccine 4 dollars for a total of 38 dollars . The fat and grizzle was so heavy I put my fork in the steak as my husband struggled to remove it and it hung on like elastics I literally grabbed a hold of it and hung out as he tried to to remove it . We asked for the pile of fat it was so bad . The server without us even mentioning to her came back saying we had recieved a discount for this .The plate should have been redone. . The steak was also very thin had no seasoning and reminded me of one of those cheap thin pork chops . Absolutely not acceptable I have posted the picture zoom in on the right hand side of this steak how could you serve this for that kind of money once the fat is cut off nothing left

Overall it was a decent place but not anything noteworthy. The restaurant itself was really pretty and had lovely Christmas decor. Overall though not the best place we have been to but also not the worst.

The service was great, very polite, on point and knowledgeable. On the other side of that coin, we were the one people in the restaurant at one point during dinner rush.

The food was meh, like it was good but not good enough for me to ever want to come back. We had the house bread to start, they were hotdog buns pretty sure, Again nothing noteworthy. The minestrone soup came out and the broth was good but was a bit watery and in my opinion and not very hardy. The lasagna was pretty decent a solid 6 out if 10.

We ended the night about $130 for 2 people. We had 1 drink each. Overall a bit underwhelming.

Had a Amazing first time experience! The warm welcoming atmosphere was felt as soon as you walked in.

The food was Top Notch!! Fantastic flavor profiles, and savored each bite.

Welcomed and served by Romi; a cheerful, super attentive hostess. Her positive energy and amazing customer service made this experience the best I have ever recieved at an authentic locally owned restaurant.

Will be making this a regular go to spot and also recommend this place to friends who want a good date night. !!

This was my first time at the restaurant, and I found the service and setting to be very nice. The food was acceptable, though I’m comparing it to what I’ve had in Italy. I tried the lasagna, which had a thick and generous portion, but I found it difficult to eat. I expected it to be fluffier and more flavorful. Overall, I would still return to the restaurant, but I think I’ll skip the lasagna next time.

Even a $100 gift certificate and a free meal can’t fix a dishonest experience.

We returned everything to the manager — I hope they use that time and budget to create a better experience for future guests.

Our main course took over an hour because the kitchen lost our order. Three tables seated after us received their food before we did. When my friend asked the server, they lied and said our dish just takes longer.

I requested the bill three times because I wanted to leave. Only then did the manager ask me to «calm down» and said the kitchen would finish it soon. I clearly stated I didn’t want the food, even if it was complimentary. Since my friends didn’t want to waste the dishes, they stayed — but I did not eat.

Then, the manager took me outside the front door for 15 minutes to explain how the kitchen lost the order and how the server «didn’t know.» But the truth is, the manager was the one who took our order. The restaurant only had 8 tables that night — this mistake was preventable with proper attention.

The manager seemed more focused on socializing than running the floor. Please invest that energy into your team to get things right the first time.

Your family has built a restaurant known for good food and loyal customers — please keep that standard up.

Small family owned and operated restaurant with service as good as the food.
The meatballs are the best I have had in Calgary in years. Bruschetta is as good as I had in Italy.
We ordered Gnocchi that were the softest melt in your mouth pillows in the bolognese sauce and Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, which was spicy simple perfection.
This place was packed inside and out when we arrived, just be 8 pm on a Friday, and we knew we were in for a fabulous experience.

Bot an authentic Italian unfortunately. Carpaccio was overloaded with sauce (american style), Pasta’s tomato sauce was off – too sour and not enough tomato flavor. The tiramisu was ok – although also here, not enough coffee/cacao flavor

Service took a bit too long too. Price was too high for what you get

Food was pretty good. I had meatballs, squid pasta, and sausage pasta. The squid one had a good touch of seafood flavors but was too small. Pasta was a bit salty. Overall, prices were too high for the value and atmosphere of the restaurant.

Our first visit and a great experience! Tyler was our server and recommended a great bottle of wine(pictured) to accompany the variety of dishes we selected. The rigatoni and squid ink pastas were our fav. Also, don’t sleep on the burrata. We ordered the focaccia bread and the gnocci as well and really enjoyed it all. Their patio wasn’t opened yet, but I’d love to go back for that.
We went before a concert and joked about how we could have paid our bill and called it a night, completely forgetting we actually had another event to go to. It was that enjoyable and memorable!! Highly recommend!

This is our second time visiting, last time we didn’t love the food or drinks but we had a show at the Saddledome so decided to give it another go since it’s been a few years from our last visit.

The only good dish was meatballs and bread starters. Lasagna was really bland, meat and gnocchi too salty but I’m most disappointed by drinks. I love sweet cocktails but there is nothing on the menu that looked good. Cocktails we ordered we had hard time drinking.

Walked by Cardinale many times while going to hockey games. Finally made it in and I don’t know what took me so long. The food and drinks were solid and the service was great. We decided to sit at the bar and had the chance to try a couple of there own Amaro’s spirits. Tried 6 of the dishes and all were amazing and the portion sizes were generous. Actually it was 7 dishes because we had a dessert as well. Will definitely be back.

I had the spaghetti Villa Firenze and it was 10/10 also tried to parpadelle salmon and it was lovely! And the fettucini alfredo was alright. Tried the lamb and it was not bad. Could’ve used a nice mint sauce to counter its heaviness. Adequate drink selection. Negroni was a let down.. Overall, great place, will definitely be back. Expensive.

We truly enjoyed coming here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It was just the two of us, but we made a reservation and even when we arrived 15 minutes early, they honoured it and sat us down right away. When we had questions about what was on the menu, our server answered fully and without hesitation. The staff know their stuff. Everyone was friendly, everyone was nice, and the food was absolutely delightful. The portions were perfect, I was so full when I left. What made the night even more special was walking five minutes away to my wife’s literal birthplace on the side of the old General Hospital in Bridgeland. Villa Firenze truly made my wife’s birthday unforgettable. Thank you all.

Delicious Italian hole in the middle wall. A coworker suggested this spot and we are so glad we decided to check it out.

The service is amazing. Carla is OUTSTANDING – she is such a vibrant human who was like walking sunshine. Everyone else is super friendly, personable and helpful when it came to dinner suggestions!

The food is awesome as well. The mussel appetizer is delicious and the 7 layer lasagna is a MUST TRY!!

We would definitely recommend this place.

Last night, our F45 Bridgeland crew experienced pure magic at Villa! As we gathered around the table, laughter and love filled the air. The famous portobello mushroom appetizers set the tone for an incredible meal. My fillet mignon was cooked to perfection – every bite a testament to the chef’s skill.

Sharing a bottle of rich red wine, we savored the flavors and each other’s company. And those heavenly espresso martinis? The ultimate finale! Our waiter’s kindness, attention to detail, and fabulous braids made us feel like royalty. 🙂

Every aspect of the evening was pure perfection. Flavors danced on our palates, and gratitude filled our hearts.

Thank you, Villa, for an unforgettable night that nourished our bodies and souls. We’ll be back!

We came here for lunch and were disappointed by the overall service and portion. The calamari and mussels dishes were barely warm like it sat there for a while before coming to our table. The pasta and veal dishes portions were questionable considering the amount we paid. The pasta was 4 to 5 bites and was undercooked. The only good thing was the bread.

The service was slow and our server probably was more attentive to other tables that had ordered wine.

We did a wine pairing in a group. Did was nice, but brought out all at once — warm at best

Took an hour from arrival to appetizers.

Four hours to finish the courses. Loud, hard to hold conversations.

Do not recommend
