Excel Homes Head Office - Calgary

Purchased a home from them. 1. Loved that their houses are spacious and their designs resonates with me 2. Brad their warranty guy is very responsive and replies even at odd hours to get the job done and fix all complains. 3. Their office staff are friendly and very professional 4. Their homes are built green…very low energy consumption (less winter bills) My not so good experience 1. My possession date was changed twice which affected my plans and when I requested for a possession date for 1st September it was declined 2. I see online people getting excel welcome package on their possession day…but in my case the builder sagay just handed me my key and the whole excitement of entering a new home just went down the drain as I was trying to figure out why mine was different for a house that’s worth over 680,000 CAD. 3. The television switch is not high up in both the secondary and main suite. I had to conceal wires because there was no switch to just plug in behind the TV.

We are currently building a duplex with Excel Homes, and the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. We’ve invested over half a million dollars into this property, and what we’ve received in return is unprofessionalism, lack of accountability, and extremely poor customer service. From the beginning, communication has been slow, evasive, and inconsistent. No one responds in a timely manner—if they even respond at all. It feels like once the sale is done, they stop caring about the actual homebuyer experience. There’s no clear way to escalate concerns to upper management—no contact information, no direct accountability, and no one truly willing to take ownership of issues. Its been over a month we were told that we would be contacted by somebody from the higher management.You’re constantly given the runaround with vague answers, misleading documentation, or excuses. We’ve also experienced a serious lack of clear disclosure on important aspects of the build/ lots. Several things we were told would be in a certain place were either not done or were done incorrectly. When we bring it up, the response was we can put it anywhere and can be moved later but as far I know there is costs involved to move things later who will pay for it. It’s been over five months of frustration, delays, and being ignored. We were promised regular updates and responsiveness, but that simply has not happened. No one follows up, and we’re left in the dark throughout this major financial and emotional investment. It was suppose to be a exciting journey for us but has been of surprises and spoken rudely with. I would never recommend Excel Homes to anyone—friends, family, or otherwise. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, look elsewhere. This has been one of the worst customer service and construction management experiences we’ve ever had!!!

We have built 2 homes with Excel and both houses have this issue. During construction Electrical punctured holes in vapor barrier when wiring in power to devices like smoke alarms, bathroom fans etc... and creates both a focused point excess frost build up when cold and a leaking point with attic rain when it warms up quicker than normal...as you can see as by pic we had to catch water dripping from our smoke alarm just the other day. At the time we built our second one, our Father in law - whom has been in construction all his life - pointed this out to them and tried to ensure it didn't happen again...they replied "But this is how we have built all the homes in the area." Especially after committing to build a second home with them and have this happen; asking them specifically for this not to happen again...and it did. Now, we have to pay to have someone go and move around insulation and seal up all of the puncture points in the vapor barrier.

I had no idea the foremen at excel homes were allowed to break the law by parking their trucks wherever and however they like. Not only did he park right beside the yield sign, his vehicle was in the intersection and on the wrong side of the road. First class professionalism right there.

My wife and I love our little house. Excel gave us great customer service. But, get a new home inspection before moving in. It did take time to work out the bugs. That is life.

Hi there i met a lot of home builders but the quality of workmanship and the ethics with which excel home treated us was phenomenal.. The explained every step of our construction to us and solves all the problems if occured during the possession.Good community in Savanna ,good views and quality work.. Definitely recommended

One star is even more for this worse builder. Here is the story: We went to their one of the show home ( as our last visit to clarify some additional upgrades and changes) and finalized our price on Saturday February 03, 2024 and we were ready with deposit cheque and asked the show home manager to go ahead with purchase contract but next day he sent an email saying that our company increased the house price significantly (it was 40k for us)….really? I am 200% sure that all area sales manager of all home builders do regular meeting with their head office and they do know what is going to happen with their home prices. We visited the show homes of other big brand home builders at the same time frame when i was talking to Excel homes. They all are giving us an update about pricing additional discounts additional promotions etc. ( nothing from excel though) either by phone or email. This is what a normal course of customer service. Do you agree that a customer who was showing this kind of serious interest to buy your house, should have given at least one formal call about price increase. Excel home does not even listen to their Area managers, he tried to explain and did his best to get the home at the price he had quoted but ?????? I escalated this issue to their customer service email and it had been one week no reply at all. I believe, they will reply to my this post and say ""Sorry for inconvenience""" I would only say, stay away with this builder. Our experience is just one part, I do not know what other issues you will face during your entire home construction process.
