I had an extremely disappointing experience with Ken Martinsen, an agent at Sharp Insurance. Despite being a loyal customer for nearly 9 years without ever missing a payment, I was treated with a lack of respect and professionalism. I had to repeat my request multiple times, but Ken would not listen and spoke in an unprofessional and dismissive manner. His tone and behavior were condescending, bordering on rude.
To make matters worse, when I requested to speak with another representative, he refused, and the phone system continued to route all my calls directly back to him — leaving me no way to escalate the issue or receive proper service.
Due to this unacceptable experience, I canceled my insurance and will be filing a formal complaint with Intact Insurance. It is clear that this individual is not suited for any customer-facing role. No long-time customer should be treated this way.

I just wanted to share the great experience I had with Maheshwari today. Insurance conversations aren’t always the most exciting, but she made the whole process smooth and stress-free.
I was urgently looking to get home insurance and, having no prior experience, I didn’t realize it could take a few days. Maheshwari patiently walked me through the entire application, handled everything with care, and submitted it right away. To my surprise, I had my home insurance approved within a couple of hours!

In my experience, Sharp Insurance is, by a wide margin, one of the worst brokers I’ve dealt with. It takes at least 30 minutes to reach a representative, and often they transfer you, making you wait even longer. Recently, I called them to request a letter of experience. I was shocked to hear that it would take two weeks to issue it, especially when I received the same letter instantly from Desjardins! They told me the delay was because they no longer work with that insurance company, Aviva. I even tried calling Aviva directly, but they said the request has to come from the broker.

Great Experience!
Kyle Lihaven was incredibly patient, helpful, and easy to understand. As someone getting insurance for the first time, I really appreciated how clearly he explained everything in simple terms and made sure I was comfortable with the process. He made the experience smooth and stress-free.

Edit: since posting my review they fixed their support and now response are fast if sent to the correct email.
Sharp Insurance used to be good, conduct yearly reviews of your file and respond to requests fast; however, now a simple request can take weeks to get a response to and they don't conduct the reviews anymore.
This will be my last year with Sharp Insurance as they aren't doing the bare minimum that you would expect from a broker.

Kyle Lihaven, the agent I had dealt with a few times, after Simran Bath was not dealing with my home policy, proved a very good Customer Service person. It was he with whom I had renewed the policy last year , due to some mess up in the company's lapse for not ensuring a renewal notice reached me.
This time due to some confusing changes in creating designated teams to deal with individual customers. I found it as an exercise in futility as reaching the right person was an Herculean task.
I had to wait for nearly 30 mnts , three times, only to find the line disconnected.
At one last call I mentioned to the operator/agent to reach the so called designated team , on her assurance that there was no waiting time as there was no other call ahead of me. Even then it took 22 mnts to talk to an agent.
I decided to do away with Sharp Insurance and got an alternate source to buy the policy, ending nearly a decade old relation.
On my final call to get my policy cancelled through Sharp, happened to talk to Kyle, recalling old dealing, explaining my frustration and the reasons there for.
He was so polite, professional and considerate, offering to do whatever was possible, promptly.
Sadly, having given him my mind, I told him to get my policy cancelled.
Sympathing with my situation he promptly cancelled my policy urging to come back next year.
If I do return to Sharp next year, it will be because of Kyle Lihaven.
This may be treated as well my public feed back on the Sharp's confusing policy and careless conduct.
Hope customers are not subjected to long waits to even talk to an agent.

Absolutely the worst brokers I’ve ever dealt with in my life. From the most ridiculous wait times on the phone to the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They didn’t cancel my policy after telling them I’m no longer working with them, didn’t contact me to renew, or anything. Just renewed my policy with out even talking to me about it… EVEN AFTER I specifically told them I’d no longer be working with them. This by far the worst broker you could ever go with.
