Great resource for people needing counseling. The counselors I have experienced over the years were great. It has definitely helped me in the past and I plan on using their services again to help me. The only negative comment I have is sliding scale initial fee estimate can be quite high..but they will adjust if you request. I had to rebook my initial appointment a few times all with adequate notice due to sudden work schedule changes etc, I was given a ride attitude from my counselor who asked if I was committed to change and ready for counseling. That was off putting and unnecessary..which made me want to switch counselors since then things have been better. It all depends who you get for a counselor if they suck or are not helpful just request to be reassigned.

I had high hopes for Calgary Counselling Centre, but the experience was a complete disappointment. Their process is outdated, and instead of real, personalized guidance, they just send you YouTube videos—as if I couldn’t find the same information myself for free. For $250 per session, I expected actual support, not generic online resources.
On top of that, the therapists themselves seem like they need therapy. They don’t listen properly, don’t offer meaningful solutions, and seem disengaged from actually helping clients. It’s frustrating to pay so much for a service that feels cold and ineffective.
If they want to improve, they need to:
Offer real, tailored support instead of relying on online videos.
Train their therapists better so they actually engage and provide value.
Justify their high fees with effective sessions rather than outdated methods.
At this point, it feels like a cash grab rather than a place for real healing. Save your money and find somewhere that truly cares! #truth

Don’t get the bad reviews my therapist is super professional, listens and is engaged, non judgemental, offered real support that has completely shifted my relationship with anxiety and offered valuable insights on what’s going on with my thought patterns and why I’m having certain feelings.
Intake took a couple weeks after filling the online form out, it does take a second so just be patient but they do eventually call.
People talking about the questionnaire are being a bit dramatic, it takes about 2-4 minutes, and it’s so they can see a chart of your emotions and how they are changing overtime, I think since it’s a sliding scale they use this to determine if you may need more sessions or not, but I’ve been under "baseline" for what’s "appropriate" and they still keep booking me sessions and letting me work with them. But yeah it’s really not bad, you do one anytime 24-48 hours before your session, and one after while in the room with therapist (rate your session so if something is off your therapist will work with you to see why).
I’ve tried other resources like better help and online therapy and this was completely different, felt like a doctor but for your emotions, and with the sliding scale and being out in Airdrie I pay incredibly less per session.

I had a very disappointing experience with Calgary Counselling Centre. After being referred by my doctor, psychiatrist, and the hospital, I went in genuinely seeking help. During my intake appointment with Sharona Pilmeister, I was open and honest about my mental health struggles. She told me she would follow up with my family doctor, Dr. Todd Peterson.
Later, I received an email from Denis Sushkin saying that, based on a professional discussion with my psychiatrist, I would not be offered further counselling. But Dr. Todd Peterson is my family doctor, not my psychiatrist — which makes the communication feel careless and unprofessional. If a discussion did take place, how did they get such a basic fact wrong?
I felt like I was stigmatized and discriminated against for being honest about my mental health. It’s frustrating and disheartening to be turned away when I was genuinely trying to seek help. I also couldn’t help but feel that I was at more of a disadvantage because I am a person of color and a male — which only added to the sense of exclusion.
I also couldn't help but feel that financial motives were at play — as if I had been pushed aside to prioritize clients who could bring in more revenue.

Staff are great, building is nice and relatively accessible. Pricing can be iffy & is based on household income rather than individual income but it's manageable

Now I see why this place gets reviews of 1 star or less. It’s impossible to get a hold of a live person for asking questions. Intake line only. Totally automated answering that goes to voicemail. I tried calling multiple times.
If your mental health is at stake don’t choose this place. My first impression is that this place is so cheap and money oriented that it won’t even pay a secretary to answer the phone. I would hate to see how they would handle my mental with their kind of service.

I’ve been receiving counselling here since 2020 and every therapist I’ve had with has been incredibly supportive, an excellent listener, and genuinely compassionate. Battling my ADHD has been a long journey, with frequent relapses into depression, they’ve always helped me get back on my feet. They consistently validate my feelings and struggles, making me feel truly understood and cared for. Karina Bruce was my previous therapist and I truly love and appreciate her so much. I definitely recommend her if you are ever looking for a therapist.
