I got my Class 1 license From Punjab Driving Academy. All Staff members were professional,nice and polite. My Instructor was Bhullar, who gave me good knowledge about Manual Truck. I am so happy to have my class 2 training at Punjab Driving Academy, my instructor Sartaj is very professional, patient and experienced. And most important thing is Punjab Driving Academy use transit bus for class 2 training, not school bus. Transit bus equipped with air break, during the training, I learned how to do the air break inspection and how to drive a bus with air break system. I feel confident to drive a coach and find a job after the class 2 training at Punjab Driving Academy. Thanks a lot.

After stalling my drivers test and not bejng successful in my previous attempts, I had George as my instructor and passed my road test right away after. From the day we started our lesson, up to our last lesson, he always kept a calm and encouraging demeanor teaching me how to drive safely not just for the sake of passing, but to attain the relevant skills needed to be a safe driver. It’s clear he is passionate in what he does as I never see him lacking in his efforts. As an anxious driver, his patience is what stood out to me and allowed me to get out of my head. If there was option of giving 10 stars I would have done so! This is excellent driving school and Drazhko is an amazing instructor. My son took 3 lessons with him and passed his driving test from first try soon after he turned 16!!! The examiner even complimented his driving! I have never had a driver’s license and I decided to contact this school to get some driving lessons since it was recommended to me on Facebook. And it was an amazing experience with my instructor Drashko. He has been teaching people for 28 years and still loves his job. I felt very comfortable and confident in the lessons and learned how to drive in literally 6 lessons and then passed my road test first time. So if you are looking for a good instructor to teach you how to drive, you can confidently go to this school and they will do everything at the highest level. Thank you Drashko for everything!

I took one brush-up lesson with Drashko the day before my road test, and it was an extremely positive experience! Drashko is a very knowledgeable, calm and friendly instructor. He reminded me some rules and repeated what I have to do while the test. Next day I passed my road test successfully! Just finished my MELT Class 1 program at Derek Brown’s and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The team was professional, patient, and made sure we were set up for success.

Would 100% recommend these guys to anyone, especially if you’re nervous about driving. As an older learner and an immigrant I had a lot of anxiety about learning to drive, but my instructor Qusay has been amazing; always very supportive and encouraging without babying me, and is also very careful to explain the ‘why’ behind everything, as well as teaching me useful tips that aren’t taught in the books. The admin staff are also super helpful and always on top of communication, reminders etc. Couldn’t be happier overall!

I had a brush-up manual driving lesson with Qusay Majeed. He was a great teacher and had the utmost patience for my shall we say less than experienced driving skills. He always stayed proactive and refreshed my skills expertly. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to get back in the saddle of driving manual – it has been almost 15 years for me – and after my 2 hour session I am confident to go test drive manual vehicles and buy one of my own! My driving instructor was Mahasen, she is an amazing teacher and taught me so many things. When I first started my lessons I was super nervous but she always made she I was confident and taught me things to help me be a better driver. By the end of my 5 lessons I have learned so much and I feel like a better driver and confident enough to take my drivers test. My instructor, Qusay, was incredibly patient but encouraging — his teaching methods worked for me as an inexperienced driver learning standard for the first time. Not only was my in-car driving experience pleasant and worth the cost, the rest of the staff was also very friendly and helpful when it came to rescheduling and other problems I had reached out to them about. My only complaint is that they do not offer a pick-up option for standard transmission lessons, making it slightly inconvenient for me as someone who lives 30 minutes away. Either way, the lessons were super helpful and I enjoyed every lesson.

I took a 10-hr class here and My instructor Jacob was patient, kind and very knowledgeable. He made me feel comfortable behind the wheel, even as a beginner.
Lessons were well-structured, with a strong focus on safety rules. He told me exactly what to practice more and what I was doing right, which helped a lot.

I took lessons with this driving school a few years ago, and unfortunately, I had several issues that I feel are important to share.

1. Paid for NW Calgary, Forced to Learn in NE Calgary
I paid $550 for the NW Calgary package, but was forced to do all my lessons in the NE. When I asked why, they told me that driving to the NW would take too long (20–30 minutes) cost gas money, etc, and that it was better to learn and take the road test in the same area. While that may be true, it doesn’t justify ignoring what I actually paid for. I specifically chose the NW option, and I should have been taught there.
They also refused to reduce the cost—even though NE lessons were only $480 at the time—which felt unfair. What really stood out was when I forgot something in the car, and the instructor arranged for another student to drive to the NW so I could pick it up. That proved to me they could teach in the NW; they just didn’t want to for my lessons.

2. Incorrect Instruction on Uncontrolled Intersections
My instructor told me to slow down at uncontrolled intersections to check for oncoming traffic or pedestrians, which is correct. However, they never explained that I should speed back up to the posted limit once it was safe to continue. They also didn’t clearly point out or emphasize when we were approaching uncontrolled intersections—sometimes acting like it wasn’t a big deal.
Because of this, I failed my first driving test and had to learn the proper rules afterward on my own. According to Alberta’s Driver’s Guide, you must slow down at uncontrolled intersections and be ready to stop if needed—but once it’s safe, you’re expected to return to normal driving speed. That crucial part was never taught to me.

3. They basically guilt trip you into you making a 5 star review on google and will actually check your phone to SEE if you wrote it or not. I had to keep saying that maybe google was too slow to update to keep them from trying over and over.

Despite being on the cheapest options in Calgary, I would not recommend this place.

the lessons my instructor created for me is very organized and very helpful as a first time driver. he really made me comfortable and help me built up my confidence driving slowly and taught me everything there is to know. highly recommend!

Before taking this class I wasn’t confident in my speed control and parking ability, but my instructor gave me easy tips on how to keep those things in check! He helped me with everything that will be on the road test and made sure I was confident before finishing my course!

Karen is by far the best instructor at this school (Im not saying the others are bad because they are all great). But because of her amazing teaching, I was able to pass my class 1 MELT test in a manual on my first try! She is funny and kind, but also strict with what you need to learn. She also does the airbrakes classes at this school. Learning at this school was an amazing experience, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn how to drive trucks. (Also the area the school is in, is great for beginners!) Mr. Hamid’s instructions and training was excellent. He was always calm and provided detailed instructions which helped me to get accustomed to driving in Canada very quickly. Scheduling lessons was also very convenient. Highly recommended.

I took 8 driving lessons with Hamid, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. From the start, I felt a lack of patience and genuine support. Rather than helping me build confidence, Hamid made dismissive and discouraging comments that affected my motivation.
When I expressed fear about highway driving—a common concern for many learners—he told me, «I can’t take you to the highway. It’s too risky with you. I want to be alive.» That kind of remark is not only unprofessional, but also hurtful and completely inappropriate from someone who is supposed to be guiding new drivers.
In the end, he told me to «find someone else» because «it doesn’t work» with me, without offering constructive feedback or showing any willingness to adapt his approach.
If you’re looking for a supportive and respectful learning environment, I strongly advise finding a different instructor. Learning to drive is hard enough—you need someone who lifts you up, not someone who shuts you down.

Hamid is a great instructor and helped me pass my driving test in my first attempt. He’s very punctual and willing to go the extra mile to ensure you understand everything he teaches. 10/10 would recommend!
