Looks like I wasn't the only one to have a terrible experience with this company. Should've looked into this company a bit more before trying to make a claim. Jeez. 1 star reviews galore, and it's true for a reason. I literally would've been better off not dealing with this company and dealt directly with the responsible party's insurance. The responsible party is willing to pay for the full repairs, but Intact wants to do band-aid repairs and pocket the difference for themselves.
Did you know Intact owns their own contractors and engineers? So, if you have a property damage claim, they can bring in their own contractors and tell you everything is fine, just put some band-aids on it and go. Meanwhile, any proper contractor will tell you that's insane.
Huge conflict of interest and completely unethical, but what would you expect from a company this low? It's in their best financial interest to as little to their client.
Any contractor trying to build an honest business and do honest work will do the best for their clients to build a reputation. Again, huge conflict of interest.
If you're a lawyer, this is like perfect case for a class action against this company.

They automatically renewed their insurance without their knowledge, even though they had a 1-year contract. After a month, they sent a message that you owe $125. Although I did not order new insurance. After clarifying the relationship, it turned out that they sent me new insurance documents that I did not receive because of the Canada strike or whatever else they came up with. I do not recommend contacting them

Used to really like intact. Then they cancelled our comprehensive because we had two (no fault of ours) claims within a 3 year period. One was hail damage which they assured me would not affect our premiums. The other was a hit and run where they had the license plate of the offending party and a police report which included witness contact information.
We are moving to a different company asap.

Intact is not a company I would ever go with again, I have not been with them for 3 years and after going to pay my balance owing in person, they claim they have never received it. And add a new balance, but rather than notifying me, they claim they sent something in the mail that was returned back to them. Instead of calling me or finding a way to get ahold of me they have sent me to collections and given me 0 notice. When called to deal with this with customer service they claim that because they sent the letter even if it was sent back it counts as they notifying me and they won’t be helping me further. Find a company that you can trust and isn’t so scummy

Got home insurance from them, they took payment and very next day they came back with some additional clause to install multiple things in home to go through or have to cancel.
Now after cancelation, for rembursement of the payment first it was said that refund will be in 3 to 5 business days then it became next week and now 6 weeks.
If that's how they deal for repayment for cancelation which happened because of there own reason then imagine in case of claim what they will do. I assume running after them for months if not years
In my opinion pathetic and fraudulent will be understatement for this type of service atleast in my particular case

We had auto insurance with Intact and then moved out of province. I canceled the insurance and they said it’ll take TEN BUSINESS DAYS to get us our letter of experience! So we are now unable to be insured until that arrives. Ridiculous. Intact says it’s Brokerlink who has to issue the letter, Brokerlink says it’s Intact. Either way we are stuck without a car thanks to this situations - I’ve gotten LOE before and always within 48h. Go with other providers!!
Edit - per their response below I called that number. It asked me to leave a message, couldn’t event talk to someone. Left a message, will be making a complaint with the Ombudsman for the province. Now 4 days and still unable to buy the car or get insurance despite my clean record.

Expensive. Not worth the monthly price for how little you get. Wouldn't recommend!
I canceled my insurance back in April and they randomly took a pre auth payment July 7th. Not impressed by that at all. Shady practice.
Copying and pasting the same response to all the comments shows how little effort and care this company has for their customers.
Be careful as they will automatically renew your policy without telling you.
Update: We canceled our second policy with them and went with TD instead for half the price and more coverage
