We just took possession of our new house last April 23, and sadly, we’re already seeing damage . It’s really disappointing to experience this kind of issue in a brand new house. We expected better quality and durability, especially since we haven’t even been here that long. Hoping this gets addressed properly.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Homes by Avi! Reg, our sales manager, was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and always quick to respond to any questions we had. He made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Becky, our interior design consultant, was fantastic — she really listened to our vision and helped us bring it to life with her expert advice and creative ideas. Both Reg and Becky went above and beyond to make sure we were happy every step of the way. What began as an exciting and hopeful journey has, regrettably, turned into a stressful and disappointing one — largely due to the lack of flexibility and consistent disregard for customer satisfaction that we experienced throughout the process. Regarding the possession timeline, the original estimate in our agreement indicated a July/August closing. During our first construction supervisor meeting in February, we were told by the sales representative to expect further delays, tentatively pushing it to August/September. Based on that, we were closely monitoring the schedule to ensure we had at least three months to sell our existing home. However, in the last week of March, we were suddenly informed that our possession date was set for May 29. All subsequent requests — even for a brief 10-day extension — were outright refused, making an already challenging situation even more difficult to manage. The first inspection was equally disheartening. We identified several areas of poor workmanship, particularly in the basement flooring, which lacked the quality and attention to detail we had expected. The third-party inspector, hired by Homes by Avi, dismissed our concerns, citing that the issues were within bylaw tolerance. No alternative solutions or compromises were offered, leaving us with the impression that we had no choice but to simply accept substandard results. Additionally, the final grading of the exterior — which was supposed to begin within two weeks of our move-in — has yet to be started. Despite repeated requests and our concern for safety (especially with three young children at home), no action has been taken, and there appears to be little urgency or communication on this matter. Overall, our experience with Homes by Avi has been disappointing and stressful. Having purchased multiple homes in the past, this has, unfortunately, been our most difficult experience. At no point did we feel that customer satisfaction was a priority, and we hope this feedback will be taken seriously to help improve future homeowner experiences.

I just purchased my first home with Homes by Avi (Calgary), I was extremely surprised by their excellent floor plan which made the house bright and spacious. Cory was very effective in preparing various documents and got us the best promotion he could provide. I look forward to my house being ready in the spring. I recommend you get your first home with Home by Avi, you'll not regret!

Homes by Avi are a really easy to work with home builder. You create a really relationship with all the people helping you to built your home. They are all very down to hearth people. You don't find any snobby sales person or advisor. They really become like part of your family during the process of construction and after. Thank you Avi Great builder not a monster untouchable corporate.

We built our house with Homes by Avi back in 2021, and the experience has been filled with constant frustration and a lack of workmanship. To begin with, when we were signing the papers, the salesperson at the Belmont office was consistently rude and rushed us to sign, sign, sign. Honestly, dealing with him alone made my wife and me vow to never build or buy another Home by Avi house again. When it came to the possession date, the issues continued. The paints were chipped in a lot of places, the cabinet doors were peeling, the primary bathroom mirror was cracked, it was to the point where they did not do ANY quality check themselves and wanted us to do it for them and fingers cross and hoped that we would miss a thing or two that they don't need to touch and spend extra money on. And the worst part was that we paid extra to have the island enlarged. During the walk-through, I could feel the island shake to the point where we couldn’t even put cups on the countertop. Trevor insisted it was normal and "up to code," and refused to do anything about it until we were pleading with him to at least address the issue. What he did was put two 2x2s between the joists, which anyone could see was ineffective. After that, Trevor said there was nothing more to be done unless we added a wall, which we did not want to do because we wanted to keep the basement open. I explained that my previous home had a much bigger island and an open basement, but he just shrugged and told me I’d have to live with it. I even went as far as consulting a structural engineer, and when I shared their opinion with Trevor, he still took no action. I ended up going to Home Depot, buying 6 2x8s for $70, and spending 30 minutes installing them across the joists. It’s difficult to understand why they couldn’t have done this. I would never, ever recommend building with these guys. Edit***** more and more I look around the house (starting to get ideas to develop the basement) and we find these 2x4s used for our stairs... nice "Quality"

The quality of work Avi does is poor. I have a unit that was completed late 2021. After having leaking inside my unit (master bedroom and basement), my roof was inspected. During the inspection it was noted that my roof was missing intake vents. The framers had cutouts for them but the roofer shingled over them. The shingles ended up having holes that were large enough to fit a flashlight in. I contacted Avi and they said "the unit was built as designed". They sent a Tech. out and he blabbered on about how the house had a permit with the City of Calgary, it has engineering drawings, and that these inspectors don’t know what they’re talking about. They ended up sending someone out to install the vents after the fact (and damage) and he said it’s under warranty, so clearly Avi is contradicting themselves. I have no idea who inspects these homes and how they pass. Clearly the quality is poor. I would not recommend purchasing a home by Avi to anyone.
