We have been using Home Instead for 2 months now for my husband who is paralyzed. The company matched workers to fit in our home so we would be comfortable with them. We have a dog and home instead’s motto is it is your home and you should have a say on what you want and all the workers have loved our dog. Besides looking after my husband they help me out in the housework. Making the bed, cleaning the floors and bathroom. Do his laundry or any other tasks that there may be.
The workers are upbeat and cheery when they come in which helps set a person’s mood for the day. They are also very professional. It also gives me another woman that I can talk to providing companionship for myself which is really appreciated. Another plus is if you phone the Home Instead you get a live person answering the phone right away not a machine having you have to listen to. I highly recommend this company. They are very people orientated.

My elderly father and I used the Home Instead team to provide transportation to and from daily radiation appointments as well as accompanying and support during the appointment. Home Instead was the only support that I found who would provide ‘one time’ service. All of the other agencies required ongoing/continuous services.

I was overwhelmed with the care and attention that Home Instead provided. They were extremely flexible, as the daily appointments (5 days in a row) were at random times and changed randomly with less than 24 hours notice. They assured me that this was unusual for their service but they guaranteed that they could provide it and THEY DID! A couple of days, the caregiver and my father showed up for the appointment, and it was delayed, but the caregiver was not concerned with the extra time commitment required to complete the task.

All of the caregivers arrived at my father’s home with plenty of time to drive him to the appointment. They were very competent in all aspects of driving, finding parking, getting to the radiation center, staying and supporting him during the appointment and driving my father back home.

My father felt extremely comfortable with all the caregivers. We were both thrilled with the support that was provided during this difficult time. THANK YOU Home Instead!

Home Instead staff were so professional, kind, friendly, efficient, accommodating and flexible. Best decision we ever made was hiring them for their care professional service for my dad for companionship. After my mom’s passing, dad was feeling lost as his days and evenings were spent with her. Brad and his team at Vytality provided outstanding 24/7 palliative care to my father in his home last spring during his last few weeks of life. He ensured the care providers were a good fit for my Dad and Mom and frequently checked in with the family to ensure everything was running smoothly. Care providers Pushpinder, Alemtsehay and Lauren were always on time for their shifts. They were attentive, compassionate, dedicated and tireless. Team members assisted Dad for all his personal care in a sensitive and professional manner. They were also happy to help with household chores, leaving my mother and other family members more time to spend with Dad in his last weeks. My family truly appreciated the wonderful care from Brad and his team. Their presence was so helpful to all of us in providing assistance to Dad, support for Mom and peace of mind for all of us. Without their help, it would have been extremely difficult to honour my father’s wishes to remain in the home during his last days.

I’ve been working for Nurse Next Door for 9 months now and I can honestly say (without exaggerating,) this has hands down been the best job I’ve ever had. You can give yourself a full schedule and if quite flexible on availability, there’s opportunity to work even more then your standard 40 hour work week. In the summer I wanted to work as much as I possibly could and the most I worked was 129 hours in around roughly two weeks. Not only that but if you have a car, like to drive, and have a can-do attitude then this job can be VERY rewarding.

When it comes to working with the office staff I have found them to be very supportive in that if you need help, have questions, or concerns etc. they are quick to provide solutions. They work with clients on their end and you work with the clients out in the field with the same goal which is coming together as a team to provide the client with the best care possible. I have found that the office staff care for the clients just as much as the field staff do. It really puts the emphasis in the words community and team work.

Other really awesome aspects are:
– Some last second visits earn you a couple dollars more an hour as a thank you
– If you do a really good job that goes noticed by clients, colleagues, etc you can be rewarded with gift cards like $50, $200 etc. as well as things like recently, we had a contest to win $1000
– Sometimes you will have the time of your life with the clients. I’ve been on out of town outtings driving to K country on nice days and gotten ice cream there together, checking out cafés, taking them to the casino, walks down by the river, eating tasty snacks and watching movies, going shopping with them at the mall and them asking if you could shop too so they don’t feel so alone, having their face light up when they open the front door and see that it’s you!!!!! This one could make me cry, it’s so sweet. There are a lot of people out there that don’t have any family/are alone and even by you just being there is something some of the clients really look forward to and can hardly wait to see you again and it just gives you so much gratitude and enthusiasm for what you do and the impact that you have.

If you’re thinking this sounds like a review from some sort of job recruiter, this definitely is not. I am a current and real field staff employee sharing my honest opinion and honest experiences working at Nurse Next Door. We have trusted All About Seniors for providing companionship for my mother for the last 8 months and couldn’t be happier. Originally we used their services to take mom to appointments but as her dementia progressed we reached out to All About Seniors to provide some daily companionship. All of the staff n the office are so caring and our companion, WOW, she is a perfect match for mom. I cannot imagine being with our companion. When she was away for a few days after a medical appointment – boy did we realize just how much mom depends on this care and companionship. I can highly recommend All About Seniors – from the office staff in helping to find just the perfect match of companion for mom to the timely follow-up emails after each visit. With a large family, in two provinces, the email makes it is so easy for folks to know what is happening in mom’s life.

All About Seniors receives my highest recommendation – from its Owner/Executive Director, Lynn, through its nursing and homecare staff, to its administration. I have retained this team on 3 occasions — to help support me and my elderly mother after springing her from hospital post- COVID, then again to provide support during my mother’s last palliative weeks living with me; and then to assist me (a younger senior) after a radical hysterectomy. Upon my recommendation, my mother-in-law engaged All About Seniors to support her daughter (younger senior) after she had surgery – and she also raves about the help and peace-of-mind she received from Lynne and her team.
My decision to release my mother from hospital was highly emotional and very scary. While I was determined to bring mom home, I was completely unknowledgeable as to what to do. Mom’s isolation and physical inactivity after breaking a hip and then contracting COVID had accentuated her vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s to where she was acting like a wild animal – she couldn’t walk, she couldn’t talk, she was eating with her hands, she couldn’t control her bowels, she didn’t know who I was, she was scared, she was angry and she had become very combative.
I called All About Seniors one evening in a desperate panic after being given permission to bring mom home in a few days and learning that AHS could not help me with homecare for several weeks. Lynne responded within the hour, we then met with her Director of Nursing and they put a nursing and homecare plan in place. That plan and the supportive nature of Lynn and her staff provided me with sufficient confidence to bring my mother home to live with us. When mom was brought in the house, carried on a blanket, All About Seniors staff were standing beside me and immediately went to work to make my mother feel loved and cared for. No exaggeration – within 3 weeks, my mother was talking, eating on her own, back to wearing make-up and able to walk across our main floor with her walker. My mother was given back to me and to her extended family for several months. I give All About Seniors full credit for that.
After we didn’t need the agency for homecare, I continued to retain them for companionship with mom. After my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, her dementia grew much worse and she flipped day from night. She was hallucinating a lot and screaming out as she couldn’t communicate her pain. The agency provided the most wonderful caring and trained women to stay with her overnight so my partner and I could sleep.
My experience with All About Seniors spans at least six months so far. Throughout, my expectations have been continuously surpassed. I will engage them again in the new year as my own health challenges continue. In my opinion, they are the most wonderful, caring, trained people who will always do their very best. I trust them.

Six months ago we began the process to find Caregivers for our mother who is 92 years old, suffering from the challenges that come at this point in life. Our goal was to find consistent compassionate and qualified Caregivers that would not only care for our mother but also provide the family with peace of mind and life balance. The decision not only to proceed in this direction but to find the right company was daunting. After meeting with Melissa from Senior Homecare by Angels, we knew this was a company that we could trust and rely on to meet our needs. From start to finish the process went very quickly and efficiently which further addressed the need for timely help.
All of the coordinators at Senior Homecare by Angels have been great. From the start, Melissa has been our primary contact/corrdinator and she has been absolutely outstanding. By listening and understanding our mother’s needs, she made great matches with Caregivers Meagan and Ann. Melissa is always friendly, understanding and professional. She has always been able to quickly address any requests for scheduling changes whether it is due to changes in our mother’s health or additional time required for family. We are extremely grateful for both Melissa and Gerry’s support and flexibility, who are always there when we need them.

Mom’s Caregivers, Meagan and Ann, are the most compassionate, patient and caring people one could ever hope to welcome into our home. They connect with our mom in such a special way that gives the entire family a lot of comfort. Both are self starters ensuring that Mom’s needs are met and seek out extra work around the house. They are trust worthy and communicate very well with all of us. Not only do they keep current with Mom’s care needs ( emotionally and physically) they are always punctual and truly dedicated with strong work ethics.

They are 100%% wonderful. I have a marvelous carer called Linda who does everything for me in the house and drives me out.to shop and to medical appointments.

Learning recently that my mother was once again in the need for professional companionship, I reach out to Ephraim Stat Care for assistance. Throughout the process of discussing our special needs, with their owner Ephraim and their manager Jeff, I was very impressed by their excellent and timely communication, by their flexibility, and by their extensive efforts to meet our needs.

Having now had considerable experience with the primary companion they assigned to my mother, whose name is Reena, I must say that I am thoroughly impressed by her professionalism, excellent communication and caring nature. Reena consistently shows perfect judgement and empathy in addressing each need of those she cares for. After my father experienced a fall with very painful injuries, we hired Ephraim to assist us in getting help in my dad’s home.
