Disorganized and Unprofessional

I hired Abell to remove a wasp’s nest from our house. An appointment was made promptly, and I paid the inspection fee. The technician arrived just as it started raining, and let me know that the job required another technician and that they don’t work in the rain, so I would be rescheduled.

A couple of hours later, the booking line called and tentatively rescheduled us for the next week, but said she would call to confirm availability.

By next week, I had still not had a confirmation, and then began the many calls I put in to try and get a rescheduled appointment. Eventually I was referred to a local Calgary person, Shirley, who was not able to help me, but asked that I forward my email Service Ticket and she would get back to me. She did not. The only person who ever did get back to me was the original technician, who assured me the manager, Mike, would be calling me. After talking to her a third time, I can only conclude that I paid $131 for a frustrating game of leaving messages, and I should hire another company if I wanted our wasps’ nest removed.

Save yourself three weeks of wasted time and the «inspection fee,» and avoid this company.

I can’t recommend Sean Evens enough! He is extremely professional, courteous and clearly knows what he is doing. Sean always made sure to explain everything and walk us through any process as well always willing to help. Sean was incredible with follow up and making sure everything was resolved.

We began using Abell Pest Control a couple of years ago, and have had great service. Our technician is Lucas, and he’s been great to work with, no matter what our issue. Always there when we need him!

Had Brandon come to our shop in Lethbridge. Last summer it was impossible to keep the flies out of our shop with all the in and out traffic. Brandon gave us a couple different options and the prices are very reasonable. Quote came fast within a couple of hours. And only $17/month. Pretty impressive.

Came as expected, explained procedure thoroughly, and was polite and respectful. Treydon was excellent and extremely professional/friendly. Looking forward to seeing how the treatment goes.

We had to call after 2 weeks for them to come back and wipe our house for spiders and bugs and also requested another ant spay. When we first had our house done, the next day we had that whole weekend of rain so I feel it washed everything away. Anyways, we had Robert the technician come within 2 days and he just finished applying everything. He was very thorough with all applications and was a super friendly, easygoing guy. I’ve read a couple bad reviews on here but we have had nothing but fantastic fast friendly service from the people who answer the phones to the technicians.

We just signed up with Insight 2 days ago and today Treydon showed up to do our 1st treatment. He was very friendly and explained everything he was going to do around the house and yard. He was never annoyed when I kept asking him questions. Super friendly guy and we hope to have him back for the next treatment! We are hoping to have a bug free summer.

Also, Tim the sales guy was awesome as well. He definitely knew his stuff. He was so personable and eager to answer all questions. We have high hopes with this company. Will update results in a month. But the staff are amazing

We had an Insight technician come to our house and help us with a rodent issue we were having in our yard. They came and put up some bait stations and put them in areas that we were experiencing issues. It has done wonders for us. The technician that came to our house was very polite and easy to speak with. A day after we had our service, we even had their manager, Dustin call us to ask how our experience was. You can see that they really care about you as a customer, which we really appreciated.

We were assisted on June 14, by Alex Robb. We were so impressed with Alex that we must commend you in having such an excellent employee. Alex did an excellent job, was very knowledgeable and so very nice and took the time to explain things to us. He was a pleasure to deal with.

Christian at Tru Tech went well above and beyond to help me with my pigeon guards on my solar panels. Not only was his work and product amazing. with a wealth of knowledge on the subject, he notifed me of issues with my solar panels. After the solar company addressed that issue which involved having to take off and reinstall the pigeon guards, Christian came back to verify the reinstall was done to his standards. It was not and Christian fixed it at no additional cost to me. I was floored at this incredible and rare level of customer service. Tru Tech saved me future problems and cost with my panels as well as keeping pigeons away. I will use them again without hesitation and I recommend Tru Tech to anyone needing pest control. You won’t regret it! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

Trutech (Christian) appears to specialize in the ubiquitous issue of pigeons living under solar arrays on residential buildings. If you don’t have a barrier to block out birds around your panels, I’ll recommend you get one (now). It was sort-of okay and cute when there was only one or two up there, but the nature fun ends when there are 15 (or 200) up there polluting your place and your neighbor’s. Fortunately, Christian appears quite enthusiastic about this issue, as must be lucrative (but maybe not as much as I thought). I can say that his pricing was competitive with other estimates. I was amazed that he responded to my enquiry on a Sunday and was at my place estimating and explaining within half an hour, and he had the job done two days later. l very much appreciate Christian’s responsiveness and demonstration of what he does and the materials used, and that he continued to respond to questions even after getting paid for his work. It’s like he actually likes doing this! It was great customer service! Thanks Trutech (Christian).
…So now onto cleaning or replacing my gutters that are completely full of concrete pigeon crap and wrecking my roof (so much for the financial solar benefits). Take heed my friends!

Issue: Pigeons were perching on my roof and excreting everywhere. I contacted Christian and he highly recommended Critter Guard as he explained that they liked to go underneath my solar panels. I trusted his recommendation, even though I was looking more for spikes or twirlies to be installed. I thought the price was somewhat high and the unit didn’t make sense to me (cost was per solar panel as opposed to length of material used).

Pros: Christian was great at communicating my initial request. Him and his team came to install the Critter Guard in a timely manner on Oct 1, 2024. Payment was easy.

Cons: The Critter Guard did nothing to deter the pigeons from coming back. It is now Dec 23, 2024 and I am awake at 8:30am from the constant coos of the pigeons. I asked Christian for a quote for spikes to be installed after I noticed the pigeons were still coming back after a couple of weeks. Now that he had my business, he was less responsive and I had to follow up with him a couple of times. The last message he sent was on Oct 18 saying he was waiting for a quote from his supplier. It feels like time & money wasted and I will look elsewhere to get bird spikes installed.

Very professional service! Christian built bird solar panel exclusion last fall before snowing, it was very in time for me to prevent birds building nests under my solar panel. Christian is really responsible, I had a lot of questions and he always replied me very quickly. And He took some photos, it‘s wonderful work!

We had solar panels installed 2 or 3 years ago and a family of pigeons decided to take up residence this year. They can make quite the mess and I’m very happy with TruTech Pest Control.

Excellent knowledge, prompt service and great dependability. Living next to a ravine once HAD its drawbacks as far as voles munching our grass roots and making tunnels. No more voles! Also south facing large window areas were attracting insects, but again no more! Sandy soil had many ant hills and living with the red biting kind while gardening was very annoying. Ants now well controlled while leaving bees and other beneficial insects to help in the garden. Chris has many years experience and a good solution to every problem. Don’t wait and wonder just give a call for a free estimate.

Been using Standard Pest for 3 or 4 years now, great company and even better customer service. We have a farmers field in behind our house with lots of field mice. Standard has kept them at bay, they even come out within a couple days of a phone call or email message to check up on my property. Not only do they keep field mice and voles at bay, they do hornets, spiders and other insects! I highly recommend Standard Pest!

First day standard pest control showed up they did not have mouse traps and said they would return in two days to install them and never did return. The house was sprayed which caused a major infestation of ants in the house (I know this is common and is most likely and issue from the ants trying to get away from the spray around the house). I contacted their emergency line as I wanted this dealt with sooner rather than later even if there was a weekend call out fee but no one ever called me back. I cancelled my contract and will be using another company.

Standard was recommended to me by a friend. So far the service and friendliness of staff has been very good.
My main objective for hiring them for pest control is the Vole damage my lawn receives every winter. As this will be my first winter with them I will find out in the spring when the snow melts if it has been effective.
Update-first year in the past 14 years that I had no Vole related damage on my lawn upon snow melting.

I called Absolute Pest Control for what sounded like a pigeon hotel under our solar panels. Tony provided great service. He was easy to deal with, understood the problem, provided great follow up communication, and installed a mesh system to protect the panels in a timely manner. Thank you for the great service.

We had a problem with ants and had a tech come out to find the nest and spray the necessary areas. Not only was the tech extremely helpful and knowledgeable, but he went absolutely above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with the service he provided. Over the years both Tony and Ken have come to our rescue several times. Mice, voles, ants, wasps, spiders and I know that is the tip of the iceberg that they are capable to handle. Would recommend them whenever you need pest help. Yes, they charge a fee to do the job, but they are good at what they do. We have used them for over 10 years now and it has been worth it every time!

We had pigeons nesting underneath our solar panels, Tony and his team were incredibly professional, installed mesh panels around the solar panels, cleaned the gutters and the deck. We have not had problems with pigeons since then. Highly recommended!

Had Joseph from Absolute Pest Control come by for an inspection because I was worried about squirrels.
He checked the roof, the exterior, and the inside of the house, showed us potential entry points, and confirmed there was no issue.
The inspection was free, and he didn’t try to upsell anything.
If you’re worried about pests, it’s definitely worth calling them to check things out.

Contacted Pro-Pest to handle a pigeon nesting problem under our solar panels. The quote Adam provided was reasonable for the scope of work and was prompt in scheduling the work. Sharjeel was very professional in his work and got the job done in a timely manner. He removed two nests and installed the mesh around the panels to prevent further problems.

My only critique is that a thorough check for debris and materials was not done after the installation, as I found metal clippings and cardboard from the mesh install and bird feces from the clean out on the lower sub roofs and lawn.

I would definitely recommend them to handle all your pest problems.

I never thought I’d have pests but when I contacted Pro-Pest Solutions Adam was quick to reply with a reasonable quote for services and was always available to answer my questions. They came quickly and didn’t charge extra for a weekend call and I was happy that they came to my house in an unmarked vehicle. Sharjeel was personable and knowledgeable making the whole experience a bit more tolerable. I’d definitely use them in the future if the need arose.

Hired these guys to catch a skunk, well they set the trap three times and didn’t catch it, three times the trap closed but it wasn’t in the trap faulty trap? Anyways they sprayed a solution which is supposed to deter the skunk, well it sure isn’t gonna last indefinitely because the skunk came back and I lost my 185$. I will say they are prompt with customer service in terms of answering the phones. The tech that came all three times was very nice, and helpful in giving me tips on what I could do.

Ed was great, had some issues with my backyard. Got rid of the voles and pointed me in the right direction to get my concrete fixed. Very helpful in walking us through everything.

Mike from Cal Rid came out to check on a wasp issue, and he was fantastic! Super friendly, professional, and thorough. He assessed the entire yard and somehow found a hidden wasp nest underneath our deck that we couldn’t even see. But now? The wasps are completely gone! I’m so relieved and impressed by the quality of work. A job very well done. If you need pest control, definitely give Cal Rid a call and ask for Mike—he was amazing!

Horrible vile company. Totally inhumane and unethical. They put out large amounts of poison next to a public park natural area to kill ground squirrels and left the carcasses out to be consumed by all the other wildlife in the area (hawks, eagles, bobcats, coyotes, etc.) as well as dogs. Poisons as a first response to deal with ground squirrels is also extremely lazy. They did not try anything else before destroying the environment and potentially poisoning people’s pets.

Also, I called 311 to ask them pick up the poisoned ground squirrels/gophers and they said to call Cal-Rid. Cal-Rid is closed now so I am forced to deal with the poisoned gophers myself. I picked up one that already had its eye pecked out but its heart is still beating. I am horrified. There are hawks and bald eagles circling above so I can’t leave this poor animal here to be consumed and poison another animal. I am beyond disgusted with how this company operates.

This company needs to be investigated to see if what they are doing next to the bird sanctuary in Lynnview is legal. They are using an extremely high number of open poison bait boxes on private property but next to a huge park where there are many coyotes, bobcats, eagles, etc. The poison is causing all of the gophers in the area to slowly die outside of their holes. The birds are starting to eat the poisoned gophers that are half alive. This pest control company is not following up and removing the poisoned gophers and this is a HUGE SAFETY concern for pets, children, wildlife. The traps are not humane and the long term consequences of the poison are astronomical.

We used cal-rid to clean a lot of pigeon feces from the balcony. The lady that came to do the work was incredibly good. First rate work and I would highly recommend them.

How absolutely appalling, poisoning is the most vile and lazy response to animal control imaginable. So many other options available. You are responsible for countless preventable primary and secondary poisonings of wildlife, and the potential poisoning of Calgarians beloved pets. Off leash dogs and cats that roam are at serious risk. Did you even consider how your actions are irresponsible? Obviously not, shows you don’t have a shred of ethics or brains within your leadership/ownership group.
I hope your business suffers serious financial consequences for your stupidity and never fully recovers, I feel sorry for your employees.

How do you plan to make amends for this heinous and reckless behavior?

In short: they make a first good impression but do not communicate well and make it difficult to get help after the first treatment.

When I first called the Responders for my bed bug problem, I was impressed at how quickly they answered, gave me reassuring information, and booked an appointment the next day. I did need two more treatments for my problem, which I have read is common for bed bugs, but what I noticed in the time that spanned from the first treatment to the last was:

– A lack of communication between the dispatcher and the agent. I told them someone else lived downstairs; they said they would leave the basement out of it but ended up walking in on my neighbour when she was home

– A mismatch in the information I was given and what they really meant. Specifically, I was told after the first treatment that if I see a live one again within 60 days to call them back. I saw a live one a few days later and called, and the person on the phone amended to wait three weeks and then call if we still saw live ones. Also, when they came back the third time, I asked if it was worth throwing my furniture out at this point, to which he said, «No, I would have recommended that the first time I was here, it was pretty bad then,» but the first time he came he said it looked not too bad and that we caught it early.

– A distinct lack of response via text and email. Calling is the way to go to get their attention. I received one text response after sending images, videos, and a follow-up message, and I never heard a response via email. It was frustrating to not even get a receipt or any sort of acknowledgement.

Thank you for your help, Responders. I hope to see better education, clear communication, and any customer service via email and text in the future for others who need your services.

Had a long back and forth with the owners of Responders over work that was done. Neither of the people that did the work, work there today.

The short version is that the house was damaged, scuffed up etc. However they did compensate me for the damages and the bugs were gone.

At the end of the day I would use them again because their methods get the job done and Jordan took care of things after the fact.

Very accommodating Tech (Nick) and staff (Mike). Explained requirements for my unaffected unit as well as the process for affected units. They were in and out of my unit quite quickly allowing me to carry on with my other appointments.
I locked up my unit and was away for 5 days. Upon my return I found that they had used (#2) and plugged my toilet. They did not mention this when I locked my unit? I emailed them on the day I returned and still have not heard back (3 days) from them. If they have to come back for warranty work which it sounds like they may, I’ll be requesting PPE to do a walk though afterwards.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. I had a bedbug heat treatment done back in September, they showed up again in November (I even have pictures to prove they were there which these clowns asked for and I sent) which would qualify for a SECOND heat treatment. Instead, they did a useless pesticide spray which did absolutely nothing as they were still there to the point my 60 plus year old mother was sleeping on the floor because these guys refused to get back to me about a second heat treatment until late JANUARY… then Micheal’s excuse is it was the holidays blah blah blah. Listen, I paid over two grand, I’m not interested in excuses when I have already paid you. You should be responding to people ASAP considering how rapidly bedbugs spread. I am still not fully convinced they are gone since they were negligent in responding to my emails and phone calls. Michael and his team need to learn customer service and if the roles were reversed, I doubt he would be happy with this deplorable customer service. NEVER AGAIN.

EDIT: Now you want to be bright and lie about how you «responded» pretty sure November 14th when I FIRST email that they were still here is within our warranty, nice try. Doesn’t matter what you feel, what matters is what happened. Responding to google reviews and no phone calls or emails emphasizes my point. You forgot to mention you never got back to me for over a week in January and the holidays were over, I had to call you again and again. January 18th is two days away from late January, get over yourself; you’re a COMPLETE joke! Just take accountability for your non-existent customer service and do better, end of story.

Extremely poor customer care, service and results. Michael and his team failed miserably to deliver what they promised. They offered very little direction, flip flopped on what they said, and were ultimately unable to take care of our pest issue. They are the most expensive on the market and I’d highly recommend saving some money and finding someone else who will do the job with excellence as apposed to mediocrity and carelessness. Working with them the last few months has been unpleasant and stressful.
