I had an extremely disappointing experience with Ken Martinsen, an agent at Sharp Insurance. Despite being a loyal customer for nearly 9 years without ever missing a payment, I was treated with a lack of respect and professionalism. I had to repeat my request multiple times, but Ken would not listen and spoke in an unprofessional and dismissive manner. His tone and behavior were condescending, bordering on rude. To make matters worse, when I requested to speak with another representative, he refused, and the phone system continued to route all my calls directly back to him — leaving me no way to escalate the issue or receive proper service. Due to this unacceptable experience, I canceled my insurance and will be filing a formal complaint with Intact Insurance. It is clear that this individual is not suited for any customer-facing role. No long-time customer should be treated this way.

I am extremely frustrated with my experience with this home insurance company. After signing a contract and agreeing to a set premium, I was shocked to find out that just two weeks later my rate was increased for what seems to be a not valid excuse. I specifically worked with insurance broker Navdeep Sidhu, who assured me the rate was locked in at the time of signing. To have it changed so soon after feels misleading and unprofessional. Customers expect stability and honesty, not surprise hikes in costs after committing to a policy. If this is how they treat new clients, I can only imagine how claims would be handled. Very disappointing, and I would strongly caution others to be extremely careful before trusting this company with something as important as their home insurance.

Warning: Think Twice Before Choosing Sharp as Your Broker If you're here to read reviews to decide whether to use Sharp as your insurance broker — please think carefully and consider going elsewhere. If you value saving money, expect professionalism, and want expert advice, this is not the right place for you. In my experience, their practices are deceptive and lack transparency. For example, if you want to cancel a policy, they won’t inform you upfront about the cancellation costs. Instead, they prefer to surprise you with hidden charges — and they seem to be perfectly okay with that approach. How is anyone supposed to make an informed decision under such unethical practices? How can a customer cancel a policy without first being told the cost involved? Don’t fall for the appearance of legitimacy — do your research and choose a broker who values honesty and transparency.

This year an accident came off my record and my insurance actually went up. I called my broker at Sharp to ask why and was not given clear answers. I was told that there is no manager who could answer that question for me. I myself manage a business and have never written a poor Google review before. Usually I contact the business directly to resolve a concern. But since it was not possible to speak with anyone I am writing one now out of desperation.

In my experience, Sharp Insurance is, by a wide margin, one of the worst brokers I’ve dealt with. It takes at least 30 minutes to reach a representative, and often they transfer you, making you wait even longer. Recently, I called them to request a letter of experience. I was shocked to hear that it would take two weeks to issue it, especially when I received the same letter instantly from Desjardins! They told me the delay was because they no longer work with that insurance company, Aviva. I even tried calling Aviva directly, but they said the request has to come from the broker.
