I was very apprehensive coming to this store after reading the reviews. So glad we made the hour and a half drive to come! We were asked if we needed help multiple times while we looked around and two fellas made sure my son got fitted for everything he needed.
The skates sharpening service was amazing and almost instant and the prices were worth the long drive. More than that though, the customer service and kindness displayed by the staff far exceeded our expectations. We have never been treated like that at Sports Chek! We will be back for all our sporting goods because we can actually afford it and got treated like VIPs. Thank you so much!

Very affordable for all sports. (I got x-country skis there and it was a quality brand for a reasonable price.) Space is limited, but a bit more effort in organizing or labelling the available products (x-country boots) would make a great improvement.

I tried calling guy hung up and didnt seem very friendly avoiding this place now!!! I just tried asking if theyre taking skates and gloves and he just hung up

It's always been a good spot to find a deal on something you're looking for, although some elements have fallen off a bit in recent years.
They're never "buying that particular equipment right now" but will happily accept it as a donation. They're also not very thrilled to see you come in the door, and you can definitely feel it. Yeah working for a family business sucks, but if it's that upsetting, do something else.
It's not a bad place, but could certainly use some work in the customer experience department.

Just because you sell discounted items doesn’t mean you should give a very discounted experience. The attitude / atmosphere was very subpar. It’s unfortunate because they had a lot of selection but I ended up leaving without purchasing anything because I got zero greetings nor assistance when I made it known I was looking for something I’ve never purchased before (being golf clubs). I was planning on piecing together a full golf club set, instead went on to market place and spent $400. I’m not sure if the cashier there was the owner or not but I hope they can improve the service to perhaps increase their sales.

2nd Chance Sports is a fantastic local small business to support in Calgary! Kevan gives great customer service and is knowledgeable about his inventory! I’ve happily purchased quality equipment for squash, tennis, and hockey at affordable prices!
