Customer Reviews
I had an absolutely amazing experience. I do think you should go with multiple people so you can share the dishes. I went alone and had the stake all to myself, which was great. The cherry cola cocktail was also delicious. I would definitely recommend this resto. The servers were kind and service was fast. I had a really great time
Satya Cobos (☆ 5/5)

Ten Foot Henry is a delightful gem in downtown Calgary, offering a **vibrant menu centered around vegetables, brunch favorites, pasta, and mostly fish-based dishes**. The flavors are beautifully balanced, making each bite a treat. One unique aspect of the dining experience is the shared plates—while the portions resemble regular starters, the focus on communal eating adds an interesting dynamic to the meal.
Beyond the food, the ambiance and decor set the perfect tone for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is **warm, friendly, and refreshingly modern**, making it an ideal spot for both casual meals and special occasions. Despite the unconventional portion sizes, the **overall experience is fantastic**, with attentive service and an inviting setting that encourages good conversation and great food.
If you’re looking for fresh, flavorful dishes in a welcoming space, Ten Foot Henry is definitely worth visiting.
Jose E (☆ 4/5)

We went to Ten Foot Henry for an early dinner before the dinner rush, and it was quiet, relaxed, and lovely. Our server was incredibly helpful, offering thoughtful recommendations that made our choices easy.
We started with the tomato dish and the in-house gluten-free seed bread. I’ve had this dish before with the sourdough (also delicious), but honestly, I think I prefer the seed bread. It’s flavourful, hearty, and pairs perfectly. This dish is a long-time favourite of mine and something I’ll continue ordering again and again.
We also had the Caesar salad, which is made with kale. I don’t usually gravitate toward kale salads, but this one is absolutely divine. So well balanced and fresh.
For our main, we shared the Arctic char with curry, and it was outstanding. The curry had just the right amount of kick. Not too spicy, just enough warmth to enhance the dish beautifully.
We finished with the mini butterscotch pudding topped with salted caramel and sponge toffee. It was rich, smooth, and the perfect size to satisfy a sweet craving.
To drink, we tried the house-made lemonade, a pina colada-style mocktail, and an iced latte. Each one was refreshing and so well made.
I always look forward to dining at Ten Foot Henry. The dishes are simple in concept, but everything is so well thought out and executed with care. The ingredients shine, and the flavours are consistently spot on.
10/10 recommend. Just make sure to reserve ahead. It’s popular for a reason.
Tess Lucas (☆ 5/5)

This was kind of a late night stop on the way home from downtown…
Had a bit of a hunt to find Ten Foot Henry but soon as we entered the premises, there was a definite buzz to this restaurant.
It seems that the bar is known for the interesting & unique cocktails that are being served here. My nephew and I decided on 2 of the more popular cocktails that were quite delicious…
We also ordered one of the shared plates. It was a pasta dish with squid and a nice spicy tomato based sauce. This was an excellent dish and the perfect accompaniment to our cocktails. We were served by 2 high energy bartenders that kept us on our toes. Looking out at the clientele and considering it was almost 10:30pm it was obvious that this was a true social bar that served high quality food…
Bottom Line: 9.1 out of 10
dennis fujimagari (☆ 4/5)

Really interesting and creative dishes. Had the henry salad, roasted carrots, calamari pasta, and red prawns. No big complaints about any of the food, the prawns were not my favorite, but it’s mostly a preference thing. Server recommended splitting 3-5 dishes for 2 people, we had 4 split for 3 people and it was pretty much fine – this will depend on what type of stuff you order, some dishes are much smaller or less filling. Overall good food and experience, not too pricey.
Robert Laskarzewski (☆ 5/5)

Had a great first experience here. There are lots of delicious dishes to choose from, and I look forward to going back. Next time, I would prefer a table to sitting at the bar. It was busy on a Tuesday night! My favorite dishes were the tuna crudo and the salmon, not a bit dry!
J Crowd (☆ 5/5)

We had delicious shrimp and cacio e pepi pasta, and the steak was fantastic! The butterscotch pudding was absolutely delicious
Just a quick tip—if you prefer all your food to be served at the same time, be sure to mention that when placing your order.
We also tried the cabbage salad, but it wasn’t to our taste

Customer Reviews
For our first date night in five months – since we’d been traveling with our kids – and to celebrate our 15th anniversary, we discovered OMO, and we were completely charmed! We arrived on a Thursday evening without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. We were seated at a table that would soon be joined by a chef.
We ordered the Date Night menu, which was both delicious and reasonably priced. The chef’s performance was fantastic – we loved his enthusiasm and energy.
To celebrate our anniversary, they surprised us with a sweet card featuring a photo they had just taken of us, souvenir chopsticks, and a small dessert. The owner even came to chat with us and kindly prepared a dish for us to take home to our kids.
Service, food, overall experience: 10/10!
We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to share this amazing spot with our family and friends.
Dorothée Fortin (☆ 5/5)

My hubby and I dined here for the first time this past weekend, and let me tell you—we were not disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious, and the chef’s entertainment was top-notch, keeping us laughing the whole time. We left with leftovers because our bellies were completely satisfied. The servers were also attentive and lovely. We will definitely be back!
Heather (☆ 5/5)

We were here for our anniversary, and they made the whole night exceptional! Party party!
The staff made us feel really special, especially Hailey and Tom! All of the food was so delicious, we can’t wait to come back!
Samantha Garn (☆ 5/5)

I first came to OMO last week with a friend, and we had such a great time! Chef Remz was so caring, he kept checking in to make sure we were enjoying our food, which made the experience even better. Our server, Stephanie, was super friendly and welcoming, and we left feeling really well taken care of.
Because of that, I decided to bring my whole family (all 8 of us!) back tonight. This time, Chef Tom was in charge, and my boys absolutely loved the fire show! The food was amazing, and we all had such a fun night.
Big shoutout to Chef Remz, Chef Tom, and Stephanie for being so awesome! You guys made both visits so special. We’ll definitely be back again!
Rainie Chung (☆ 5/5)

Customer Reviews
We came here for our 4th anniversary dinner and ended up asking to move from the patio to an indoor dining spot. They quickly accommodated us and we had Dustin as our server. Dustin was so great – checked in on us frequently, was super friendly and knowledgeable on the menu with good recommendations and also treated us with the Billy miner pie for dessert! Our meals were delicious and always so consistent with our satisfaction levels. The Keg is our favorite and this will be our first location choice!
Britt Odegard (☆ 5/5)

Service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic for a group of friends. I ordered the French Onion soup, escargot, peppercorn NY strip medium rare, and split a chocolate cake and Billy Miner pie. The only miss to me was the chocolate cake. It was a little too dense in texture for my tastes. The exterior l escargots was delicious but I’m used to them in shell. I was surprised that the texture was still supple. The steak was cooked to temp and delicious!
Really enjoyed this place and find it a great place to celebrate with friends. Look forward to returning.
Don Nguyen (☆ 4/5)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Keg is hands down one of the best steakhouses in Calgary! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, the warm and cozy ambiance set the perfect mood for a romantic dinner. The staff was incredibly welcoming and made us feel so special throughout the evening.
For our meal, we both started with the French onion soup, which was rich, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin. My husband ordered the New York striploin steak, while I had the Top Sirloin with a lobster tail—both were cooked to perfection! The highlight was the melted butter served over a candle, keeping it warm for dipping—such a luxurious touch.
To make our night even more special, the staff surprised us with a complimentary dessert, which was such a thoughtful gesture.
If you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience, whether for a casual night out or a special occasion, The Keg is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Mrs. Shalaby (☆ 5/5)

Great experience overall!
I came here with a friend and we had a great time. I ordered the baseball steak, and she had the filet mignon—both were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. On the side, we shared iceberg lettuce and a classic Caesar salad, which were fresh and well-balanced.
Drinks were on point too: I had an IPA and she went with a gin & tonic.
Service was excellent—friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The location is amazing as well, definitely adds to the vibe.
Would absolutely come back!
Eden Zrihen (☆ 5/5)

We usually go to the Keg for all our special occasions because we know we can count on great food. We had to go to a different Keg for my husbands birthday because the 2 others closer to us were booked. I’m so glad we had the opportunity to try the Keg downtown as it turned out to be an exceptional meal! Everything was absolutely fabulous. The steak and lobster were done perfectly! The baked garlic shrimp and French onion soup were wonderful and the Billy Miner Mud pie can’t be beat. Even my lime margarita was one of the best I’ve had. We are fortunate enough to be able to dine out regularly several times a week so we tend to be extremely critical of our meals and if it isn’t done right, so for this meal to be so absolutely perfect amazed me!! I couldn’t find one thing to criticize and this will be our Keg of choice ftom now on. In one word…everything was sublime!
Kim Thornton (☆ 5/5)

Whether you visit any Keg restaurant, you’re guaranteed a great experience. We recently celebrated our friend’s birthday there, and it was an absolute blast. The food made the celebration even more satisfying.
Amin Paknejad (☆ 5/5)

We ordered 2 steaks: newyork strip (medium rare) and top sirloin (medium). When the food came, the new york strip was almost well and the top sirloin was not even medium rare. The kind waitress came to check on us because we were discussing the steaks and noticed the steaks were not perfect. She apologized and offered us new steaks. Soon after, the chef also came out to apologize in person. Amazing 5-star service. The billy miner pie was amazing as well. Will come back again for sure

Neat place, friendly staff, tasty steak. I loved the calamari. Warren took wonderful care of us and was attentive and on point when it came to refilling our drinks and removing finished plates. We went there for a late lunch at 2pm on a weekday, and there was plenty of parking and no wait for a table.
Seth Sanchez (☆ 5/5)

Food was absolutely delicious. Loved the pairing of my steak with the cab sav red wine. My meal included tossed salad and garlic bread but I forgot to take a picture of that. The restaurant was packed and we were a group of 8. I enjoyed my medium rare sirloin steak meal. My steak was well seasoned and just delicious. My husband loved his baby back ribs meal. We all opted to sit outside in the patio since the weather was just great. All in all a great choice of a place.
Yinka A. (☆ 4/5)

This is an absolute must visit. The staff are like family. The food is amazing and enormous portions. A fun and entertaining night was had by everyone. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Except beware parking is limited. There is 2 lots on both sides.
Alan Warwick (☆ 5/5)

i have been eyeing this place for a couple years as i always drive past it and finally made plans to go in the other day. the staff are all very friendly and helpful if you have questions about the menu. we got the tortellini and one of the beef pizzas. fantastic choices. the pizza is one of the best i’ve had, flavourful, the crust is not overcooked and the pizza is great size. my girlfriend enjoyed the tortellini a lot very creamy and cheesy. the atmosphere inside is very cozy as well definitely a good place to come to for a celebration
Noah Poitras (☆ 5/5)

Nicks is truly a Calgary institution that has a warm and inviting personality. The food is rich and flavorful, and the portions are generous – you will not be going home hungry.
The pizzas are always a go to, but I also really like the meat balls, and the pizza bread as well.
There are two parking lots, one behind and one out front.
Emily F (☆ 5/5)

Always great steaks, cold beers and a good time. It’s been a while since we’ve been back and I’m glad to say they’ve still got it A++ for all the Steak lovers out there. Try the «Calgary Cut,» Beef perfection on a plate 😉
Clem Tsang (☆ 5/5)

My family had eaten here in the past for my dad’s birthday, and we enjoyed ourselves.
Today, my mom and I were very hungry, and not willing to summon up enough energy nor motivation to cook tonight, especially since I was in pain. So we decided takeout would be wise.
We debated on places to eat, and my mom remembered this location, so that became our final decision.
We’re glad we chose this too! We built our own 10″ pizza, and it was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately we wished we ordered 14″ or two pizzas, because it tasted so good! Next time we will surely get more food!
Plus the young girl who answered the phone after I ordered was so incredibly sweet! And someone (I’m presuming the girl who answered the phone) left a very heartwarming note on our receipt!
Thank you Nick’s Steakhouse and Pizza!

Customer Reviews
I’ve always had a deep love for Brazilian-style meat, and this place delivers a fantastic variety. The meats come out fast, hot, and expertly carved right at your table—fresh off the grill. I still remember when it first opened, there was a beautiful open wood fire that added a rich, smoky flavor to the meats. Sadly, that signature touch seems to be missing now.
The grilled pineapple is a great addition—sweet, caramelized, and the perfect complement to the savory cuts. The salad bar is refreshing and pairs well with the meats, though I do wish it offered a bit more in terms of warm dishes, as the hot options were quite limited.
Service was top-notch. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and incredibly attentive throughout the meal.
Thanh H (☆ 5/5)

Absolutely fantastic experience at Pompa Steakhouse! The atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and every dish we tried was cooked to perfection. The steaks were incredibly tender and flavorful—honestly some of the best in Calgary.
A special thank you to Calvin who was super helpful and kind. We asked about cumin, and he actually took the time to look into it and bring us the information. It was such a wonderful experience thanks to his warm and thoughtful service. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a memorable meal in a gorgeous setting. Can’t wait to come back!
Aicha Amarir (☆ 5/5)

Not what I was expecting. I have been to different places in town that charge you less for the full rodizio and the food is way better. I made a reservation to celebrate my wife’s birthday and they knew it was her birthday so they gave her a free desert. It was two tiny pieces of meringue cookies and 2 tiny pieces of chocolate (compared to other places where you get a full size piece of cake on the house).
The food tasted weird, not even tasted like beef. The service was ok, our server was too pushy regarding the drinks menu. When we asked about the weird taste of the beef they said «oh it tastes like beef»and that’s it. I do not recommend this place, it’s more expensive than other options in town and the food it’s not the best.

Second time at Pampa. Had an amazing experience tonight! The staff were incredibly welcoming, authentic, and friendly. They checked on us frequently, ensuring we had everything we needed. No matter what questions we asked, they always answered with a smile and were happy to share more details about the food and dining experience. Their genuine hospitality made the meal even more enjoyable
Jing Tian (☆ 5/5)

Unexpected culinary find! After a visit to the Miele experience center … we were drawn in by the enticing aromas as we walked by Pampa! An impromptu lunch decision was made … and it did not disappoint. Jorge took excellent care of us and explained our various menu options. We elected the salad bar… and it was fantastic! A fresh and delectable array of dishes (including hot entrees), complete with recipe compositions awaited. The ceviche is prepared daily and transports you to locations that are not snowy!!
Will definitely return for an evening to experience the dinner options. If you have moment… give yourself a gift…visit Pampa!
J S (☆ 5/5)

Great location with free parking. Sophisticated setting and service has been very consistent. Quality of the meat is great as well as the salad bar with options of hot dishes. Really the best Brazilian Steakhouse I’ve been in Canada and USA.

It was an amazing experience, I’m very grateful and thankful for the service we’ve received from Victoria. We will be definitely back.
And by the way the greatest caipirinha ever.

We ate at the Saltik on our last day of our trip in Canada. We really enjoyed the 8th ave area because it’s closed off to cars making it very easy to navigate.
Our server Shalimar was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and constantly attentive, asking us for drinks and refilling our glasses.
I got the 7 oz sirloin medium rare, and my wife got the beef short ribs. The steak was cooked perfectly and is good; no sauce needed. And my wife’s short ribs were incredibly tender.
For dessert we got sticky toffee pudding. Very rich and delicious. Drinks were also stellar. Their honeybee old fashioned is 10/10.

This restaurant was great for a casual bite. They elevated dishes that bring new tastes to your palate like the cheese cake with mango and coconut, probably one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had in my life. Burger was great and the onion soup was delicious. More important, I rarely have such great service, around 4 people asked if I needed anything, brought things over and my server even brought me a bag of ice since I had fallen just minutes before arriving. Highly recommend!
Etna Eva Rodríguez (☆ 5/5)

I was excited to try the tuna tartare, but it missed the mark. The tuna was cut into oversized chunks, served with basic triangle chips, and topped with raw cabbage and carrots that didn’t complement the dish. On top of that, there was way too much sauce, which overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. Great service and atmosphere, but this dish needs a bit more refinement.
Yuliia D (☆ 1/5)

Food was very good, waitress was amazing and welcoming. Gave us good recommendations for things to do. Manager came and welcomed us. Great overall.

The highlight of my experience – Pineapple Cut Calamari!
The Saltlik was going to be our last meal in Calgary, so we wanted to go out on a high note. We had passed it several times while doing shopping and sightseeing in the downtown area. What really catches your eye is the Horse Sculpture on the side of the building. So very creative and interesting construction. The dining area is spacious and casual. They gave us a booth, which was okay, but in retrospective, a table would have been better for having a conversation with a party of four.
We had made 7:00 reservations on a Monday night. Got seated right way. Our server did a great job getting us settled in with waters and menus. She did a great job the entire evening (thanks Jetta). For drinks we all decided on the special Sangria – very tasty.
Lots of great sounding choices on the menu. The others in the party went with different salads, Caesar with Grilled Chicken, Roasted Mushroom Salad, and Farmhouse Greens. I was feeling like the odd-man-out, and ordered a couple of starters, the Calamari and Brussel Sprouts.
While we waiting, they served us Cheddar Biscuits and butter. They were warm, and flavorful, but a bit on the dry side. The rest of the food came in not to long after. The salads were fresh and the portions were average size. The consensus was that they were «okay». Nobody was raving about their meals.
I gave my meal mixed reviews. The Brussel Sprouts were not roasted as much as i would have liked. Normally an order get scarfed down, but not these. The Calamari that I ordered was tremendous. I was a bit confused as first by the shape and texture, which I asked our server about. She was very knowledgeable and told me about it being prepared Pineapple Cut. First time I had ever heard about this technique, which I researched once I got home. So much better than then other calamaris that I usually have.
We saved room for dessert. We shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, and the Molten Chocolate Cake. Those were both very good.
The evening was nice. Wish some of the food items had been better. If we would come back to Calgary, we would give it another try (and of course get another serving of the calamari).

What an incredible evening. Jetta was absolutely incredible with great service and with a fantastic attitude. The food was absolutely to die for – the level of review was «orgasmic» I was moaning every bite & couldn’t put the fork down!! I went for my birthday dinner and holy smokes did the staff go above and beyond for myself and I was in absolute awe of all the things they did for my special day – now that is what I call going above and beyond for customers. Thank you guys again so much! I had an amazing time & certainly felt the love! Never been to a place that does so much for their customers it was definitely different and I will be back soon!!!!

Customer Reviews
Had their lunch rodizio. Really good meats, every piece served was seasoned well and they were always offering to carve more if you wanted more pieces. They also took requests if you preferred certain cuts. The top sirloin was really good and so was the lamb that they had. They had both a spicy and non-spicy sausage. Service was friendly and they were quick at refilling drinks. At the time of writing this review, they have a promotion where weekday lunches are at $35 per person. For the rodizio meats available at lunch which included lamb, this is currently an excellent value for a lunch rodizio that you really can’t get anymore unless if you time travelled back to at least five years ago.

All staffs are very kind and nice.
Good for family dinner or anniversary
We had a nice time and experience in this restaurant.
Just One thing I’d like to suggest.
Could you put a step in the washroom for child ?
The wash bowl and handwash is a little high for child and small people.
Overall, this restaurant is really nice .
Well educated staffs and serve a good customer experience.

First time here and the experience was outstanding!. Food was fantastic and not as overly salted as other Brazilians steak houses. Very friendly servers and the gauchos were steady on bringing out new options and also incredibly friendly and polite.
My only complaint was that the pineapples weren’t ripe and crunchy.
I’ll definitely be back soon.
brandon lau (☆ 5/5)

Minas Steakhouse delivers an incredible experience when it comes to steak and meats—absolutely top-notch. Every cut we tried was juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The variety of meats brought around by the servers was impressive, and the flavors were consistently excellent. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into their preparation.
That said, our experience was slightly affected by one staff member who had noticeable body odor. While the service overall was polite and attentive, this issue was distracting and took away from the otherwise enjoyable atmosphere.
Still, the food itself was fantastic, and I’d definitely come back—hopefully with a more consistent overall presentation from the staff.
JP Yao (☆ 4/5)

Had two amazing brunch experiences at Minas. Their all you can eat buffet is filled with the most delicious salty and sweet food. Queijo coalho, pão de queijo, sausage, polenta, a variety of cakes and pastries… It’s all delicious. The value is also really good. Service was great, with everyone being super gentle and helpful. Also, they have a great little market filled with Brazilian food staples. If you dine in there, you get a 10% off coupon for your purchases, which is a great plus. Definitely recommend, specially for all of the Brazilian community!

Cute little place. Met an old colleague here for an early dinner while visiting the city. Service was quite good. They routinely brought out different meats. Their buffet/salad bar is quite varied and well stocked. Nicely laid out with lots of choices.
Thanks!

Customer Reviews
One of the best dining experiences we had in Calgary! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived, and the service throughout the night was both professional and friendly. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I both had the New York strip cooked to medium rare, and I added black tiger shrimp on the side—they were perfectly cooked and even more amazing than I expected. We also enjoyed some fantastic local Alberta beers, which paired wonderfully with the meal.
Overall, 10 out of 10. Highly recommended!
Kelly Law (☆ 5/5)

I don’t know where to start. The service was impeccable from the moment I first walked in. My meal was made with care and high quality while also being timely. The Bare Naked Mule was refreshing and so welcome on a warm spring evening. The blue cheese salad was the perfect starter. The filet was so tender and the pepper crust added a pleasant kick along with the savoury glaze. The twice baked potato was cheesy, lite, and fluffy. I took a slice of cheesecake to go and the texture was smooth and velvety. Would definitely return.

Came here for my birthday with a large group of my friends, and it did not disappoint! The Steak Diane was great and cooked well, and I opted to add the Neptune (the shrimps). And yes, Caesar’s is known for steaks, but the standout for me was the amazing baked potato which was cooked to perfection! Our server (her name escapes me) was amazing as well and gave us great service, and ended us off with a birthday dessert for me! Would come again, thank you 🙂

A Magical Evening That Felt Like a Roman Getaway
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at this incredible restaurant for a date night, and from the moment we walked in, it felt like we were transported to a place as grand as Caesar’s Palace. The architecture and decor were stunning — such a unique and elegant atmosphere!
We were warmly greeted by a lovely young lady at the entrance, and then kindly escorted to our table by a gentleman who made us feel right at home. Even the small touches — like the attentive service from the man pouring our water, to the charming French waiter — added to the sense that everyone truly cared about making our night special.
The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish was well-prepared and full of flavor, making it clear the kitchen takes great pride in their work. The service was just as impressive — attentive, friendly, and never rushed.
It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We left feeling not only well-fed but genuinely cared for. Highly recommend this spot for a special night out!

What a great restaurant. We heard good things about Caesar’s before arriving in Calgary and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the staff were welcoming and the atmosphere was fantastic. It felt like stepping back in time, but still fresh and upscale. We would definitely return.
Daniel Folco (☆ 5/5)

Exemplary execution in a superb restaurant. The meals were prepared to perfection and the service was like a well-coordinated team effort where waiters and buspersons worked in unison to serve you at exactly the right time. Not only a great meal but the quality of service elevated this restaurant to being one if the best experiences ive had in dining for awhile.
Les Jang (☆ 5/5)

The best steak I’ve had in my life! It’s the beef from the cows in Alberta. There you see cows are freely walking around on the grass. So the texture is different. I didn’t need anything on my steak. The way they cook on the grill right in the hall and side table salad freshly made right next to you also make my memories unforgettable

I had a fantastic experience here tonight. I ordered a perfect dirty martini with the blue cheese olives (you HAVE to get the olives if you love blue cheese, SO funky and good). As an appetizer I got the oysters, and their hot sauce is unique and tasty in combination with the mignonette.
For my main I got the Steak Oscar (rare) and it was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth like butter. Every bite was heavenly. The twice baked potato was perfect too. Of course, I recommend you order red wine with the steak because it just makes sense. I personally had a glass of the Black Sage Cabernet Sauvignon.
For dessert I treated myself to the Baron’s Coffee which was a perfect lift of coffee and dessert with its Irish Cream all in one.
Everything I ordered came out in excellently-spaced timing, the atmosphere was awesome, and I couldn’t have had a better evening out on a Friday. Kristina was the best server and never left me wanting for anything. Great experience!
Samantha Krewulak (☆ 5/5)

Cattle Baron is my go-to steakhouse for a nice dinner. Their 14 oz ribeye steak ($61) and French onion soup ($13) are probably my favorite in all of Calgary! The 14 oz prime rib ($50) is pretty good as well, except they never seem to give enough au jus and it costs extra if you want more. I always get their loaded twice-baked potato as my side, because it’s buttery, smooth, and really delicious. I definitely recommend giving this joint a try!
Carmen Lam (☆ 5/5)

Though fairly expensive, the food was very good here. Service could have been better. And booth was dusty but quiet. Overall 8/10
Noelle C (☆ 4/5)

The atmosphere is very relaxing and the lounge is a perfect place for a date. Food melted in your mouth, best steak I had in a long time that I haven’t cooked myself. Service was on point and there was no waiting for anything. If you did wait it made sense to wait for that item. Will differently be back when back in town.
Christy Cannan (☆ 5/5)

Had a great dinner here, the filet mignon was fantastic. The atmosphere is family-friendly and welcoming. Service was efficient, though the attitude felt a bit cold. Still, the overall experience was very enjoyable, and I’d happily go back.

Not bad flavour. 10 oz ribeye came out 3/8 thick and medium well. I ordered it medium rare. Maybe if you order the 71 oz cowboy steak you’ll get a decent steak. I would be embarrassed to serve a steak that thin for 53.00
Bart Aleman (☆ 2/5)

We came to the Cattle Baron the other day for lunch meeting. We all ended up having the ribeye steak sandwich. It was fantastic. I always love the steaks at the cattle baron, because they never let you down. I’m very sorry. I also want to give a shout out to the young waitress who was serving us, but I did not get her name. She did a fantastic job and was always on top of everything. If you want a nice quiet lunch or even a place for a lunch meeting, the Cattle Baron and its staff will take care of you 100%. Thank you.

From the moment we walked in, the experience felt elevated and thoughtfully curated. The staff were incredibly professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The interior design was both luxurious and tasteful, creating a perfect ambiance for a special evening. I ordered the carbonara pasta, and it was absolutely delicious—creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The steak was, without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. Every detail, from the plating to the pacing of service, was impeccable. It’s definitely a high-end restaurant, but the quality justifies the price. This is the kind of place you come back to for celebrations or when you want to treat yourself. Even the desserts were on another level—artful, balanced, and indulgent. Truly one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

I had an incredible dining experience at The Vintage Chop House and Tavern. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and went above and beyond. They were extremely knowledgeable, kind, and attentive, which made our evening feel extra special.
The food was absolutely phenomenal. I had the beef short rib, and it was so tender that it literally melted in my mouth—definitely one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time! We were there celebrating a birthday, and the staff graciously treated us to a free dessert, which was a lovely touch. The dessert was not only a kind gesture but also tasted amazing. I also tried the key lime pavlova, and it was a unique twist on the classic, incredibly refreshing and delicious.
From start to finish, the entire experience was over-the-top amazing. I highly recommend The Vintage Chop House and Tavern for anyone looking to enjoy outstanding food, exceptional service, and an unforgettable dining experience.
Emily (☆ 5/5)

Ordered a vintage salad, drink, prime ribeye (medium rare), and scalloped potatoes. Total $136.50 + $24.57 (tip).
The salad was a healthy portion and tasted good, dressing was evenly distributed and the bacon and croutons were of an appropriate amount. The steak was unfortunately a major disappointment, it tasted extremely burnt, every bite I could taste charcoal which ruined the entire meal for me. I hope this is not how they normally cook their steaks, it was very challenging to finish it. The cheddar scalloped potatoes could have used more seasoning, it was quite bland but was edible.
Service was good, but I would never come here again for steak. I tried to get the picture in the best possible light without disrupting others with flash, but even then I hope you can see how burnt that steak looks.

I’m visiting from Toronto and was craving a steak dinner. Vintage Chophouse and tavern exceeded my expectations. Wow wow wow!!! Service was top notch. They bring out the cuts of meats and show you what each cut is with an in-depth explanation. Our server, Chris was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We got the porterhouse to share which came with 2 very big sides. The crispy brussel sprouts were so good!!! We also got the slow cooked duck breast, which was delicious. The menu even lights up! What a clever feature. I highly recommend dinner here. Absolutely delicious!!! I want to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful dinner. Cheers!!
Diana Mai (☆ 5/5)

Our group of six from Ontario was served by Dean on a busy Saturday night. The menus light up when opened – like a refrigerator. Our table shared two cowboy rib steaks and a variety of sides including fingerling potatoes, mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, and root vegetables. A beautiful wine was paired with our meal and everything was exceptional. It was a little busy when we first got in, but by the time we ended, we felt that the fervor had died down a little bit and staff seemed able to chat.
Ashley (☆ 5/5)

Last year, I visited here for the first time to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and I was delighted by the outstanding quality of the steaks, excellent service, and pleasant atmosphere. The staff were helpful and welcoming, especially when explaining food ingredients and wine pairings. They enjoyed their steak and I had soup & salmon. Highly recommended!
Vienna (☆ 5/5)

I loved their service! Our server was very friendly and patient. They explained everything to us in detail.
The porterhouse steak was delicious and cooked to perfection.
The bone marrow butter felt like there was more butter than bone marrow though.
I didn’t like the sides too much, we got creamed corn and mushrooms. Those were perfect dishes on their own, but they didn’t compliment the steak.

Frequently Asked Questions about Steakhouses in Calgary
What makes a steakhouse "good"?
Defining a "good" steakhouse involves more than just a tasty steak. It includes the quality of the meat, the skill of the chefs in preparing it, the ambiance of the dining room, and the service provided. A truly excellent steakhouse will consistently deliver on all these fronts, offering a memorable and enjoyable dining experience. Factors such as aging process of the beef, selection of side dishes, and even the wine list play significant roles.
What types of steak cuts are typically found on Calgary steakhouse menus?
Calgary steakhouse menus generally offer a selection of classic steak cuts including the Ribeye (known for its marbling), the New York Strip (firm texture and robust flavor), the Filet Mignon (tender and lean), and the Porterhouse (a combination of the Filet and Strip). You're also likely to find the Sirloin, T-Bone, and occasionally, rarer cuts like the Dry-aged Ribeye. Menus often indicate the grading of the beef (e.g., Prime, Choice).
How does dry-aging affect the taste and texture of steak?
Dry-aging is a process where beef is hung in a climate-controlled environment for a period of time, typically between 14 and 45 days. This process evaporates moisture from the meat, concentrating the flavor and creating a more intense, nutty taste. The lack of moisture also tenderizes the meat, resulting in a more palatable texture. Dry-aged steaks generally command a higher price due to the time and specialized storage required.
What are some common steak cooking methods used in Calgary steakhouses?
Calgary steakhouses utilize various cooking methods to prepare their steaks, including grilling (over charcoal or gas), pan-searing (in cast iron or stainless steel), and broiling. The choice of method often depends on the cut of steak and the desired level of doneness. Many establishments use a reverse sear technique, where the steak is slowly cooked to near the desired temperature and then quickly seared for a perfect crust.
What are common sides served alongside steak in Calgary?
Traditional steakhouse sides in Calgary often include creamy mashed potatoes, garlic asparagus, onion rings, baked potato (often with various toppings), and mac and cheese. Some establishments offer more upscale sides like roasted vegetables, risotto, or seasonal salads. The options typically reflect a balance of comfort food classics and more refined accompaniments.
How do different steak doneness levels affect the taste and texture?
The doneness of a steak significantly impacts its flavor and texture. Rare steaks are deeply red in the center, moist, and retain much of their original flavor. Medium-rare offers a balance of tenderness and flavor. Medium is slightly less juicy but still flavorful. Well-done steaks are thoroughly cooked and lose much of their original moisture and tenderness. Choosing the right doneness is a matter of personal preference.
What is the significance of beef grading (e.g., Prime, Choice, Select)?
Beef grading systems, like those used in Canada and the US, assess the quality of the beef based on factors like marbling (the flecks of fat within the muscle), maturity, and tenderness. Prime grade beef has the highest level of marbling and is considered the highest quality. Choice grade beef has less marbling than Prime but is still considered high quality. Select grade beef has the least amount of marbling and is generally more affordable.
How do Calgary steakhouses handle allergies or dietary restrictions?
Reputable Calgary steakhouses are accustomed to handling allergies and dietary restrictions. They typically offer options for those with gluten intolerance, dairy allergies, or other specific needs. It’s always best to inform your server about any dietary concerns when you arrive, and they can guide you through the menu and ensure your meal is prepared safely.
What's the difference between a butcher shop and a steakhouse?
A butcher shop primarily sells cuts of meat, allowing customers to purchase raw ingredients for home cooking. A steakhouse, on the other hand, is a restaurant that specializes in preparing and serving cooked steaks. While some steakhouses may also have a small retail section selling meat, their main focus is on the dining experience.
Are there any unique or innovative steakhouse concepts in Calgary?
Calgary's steakhouse scene extends beyond traditional offerings. Some establishments incorporate international influences, such as Japanese Wagyu or Korean BBQ-style grilling. Others focus on sustainable and locally sourced beef. You might find steakhouses emphasizing interactive dining experiences or offering unique cuts and preparations that go beyond the classics.
