I visited Calgary from Ontario for the Stampede and rented a car through Expedia. The pickup was confusing no address provided, and staff couldn’t give proper directions. Waited over 20 minutes for the shuttle. The car was in rough shape with visible damage and a dirty interior. No walkaround was done, and later I was wrongly accused of new damage. Drop-off instructions were unclear, and no one returned my calls. Very unprofessional experience overall.

Vivek is very helpful and friendly. Was able to get set me up quick with a great rental option. He offered me something better then I expected! Highly recommend here good prices and attentive staff. Fast shuttle from airport. Returned on time no problems! Cheska was super awesome! Told me about what other vehicles are on hand at a later date. This was the BEST car rental service I have had and have had a lot! Will be back FOR SURE!!!! Thank You guys! 🙂

I had an incredible experience renting from Routes. Everything went super smooth and aside from a short wait during a busy period there were no hold ups! Catching the shuttle was super easy even with 4 pieces of luggage. Jonjie was super helpful and cheerful upon my arrival at Routes and Carol was very quick processing my return. The vehicle I had was perfect for my needs and made my trip better. Thanks everyone for making my trip super easy!

Very bad experience, won’t recommend, they gave me car which was not cleaned before handing over to me. They mentioned it was unlimited mileage as long as it’s with the province but after submission of car back they charged me. After literally calling them for 3 days for a clarification for the extra charge on my credit card each agent gave different answers, they themselves didn’t know why they charged me extra. When I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor, they didn’t take the call. They didn’t refund me my extra charge nor did they give me an explanation why I was charged. Feels like a big scammer service. They had access to my card so they took advantage of that. Don’t recommend their service and be careful before sharing your banking cards with them

On the app, it says we booked a midsized car but it is actually a compact sedan. The car was unwashed and dirty. The gas tank was only half way full not as described to be a full to full. The mileage was also not reset and the local residents could be charged $0.20/km if we exceed 200km a day. It adds worries for the whole entire rental period.

No Show .. I booked on Expedia and paid in full for the rental in advance but was told by Zoom if customers aren’t there in 2 hrs from their pick up time they consider it a no-show and vehicle to somebody else. So right off the bat I was told that I do not have the vehicle I booked and paid for

Upgrade…. I was then offered, for a fee of and extra $100 to upgrade to an SUV because that’s all they had left. Kind of surprised cuz I would have thought they would upgrade for no charge if they messed up my reservation and rented my card as someone else. Nevertheless, decided to pay the $100 and move forward with the rental. Mistake.

Offsite location… their office is not at YYC so you call them and they provide a complimentary shuttle to their office. The wait was around 10mins and after an 8min drive we arrived.

Insurance verification… Customers either prove they have their own insurance or they must take Zoom provided coverages. Fortunately I had a copy of my ICBC policy on my phone

Credit card … They wanted $1000 pre auth on my credit card. This is where I decided to not move forward with their amended rental

Shuttle .. was ok but after hearing we weren’t gonna rent they said the next shuttle is not until 45mins. I ordered an Uber and as the Uber arrived they said «oh actually the shuttle is headed out right away»

Refund… I rented a mid-size car from you and I paid for the rental in. You didn’t have a car available for me so you weren’t able to fulfill your side of the rental. I want my money back. They said «if you want a refund take that up with Expedia». I guess they decided I’m Expedia’s customer, not theirs ugh

If you do wanna rent from them actually READ the fine print. They said when the price seems too good to be true, that’s likely the case. I’m quite surprised Expedia deals with these guys this Zoom place is not recommended at all.

Had a great experience renting from here for the first time.
We booked them for 3 days and they were kind enough to give a 30 min grace period upon return.
The car was cleaned specially before our pickup and was as good as new when we got it.
Just got dropped at the airport and the shuttle service is also very prompt.

To clarify….my wife and I arrived at 7.04pm after our uber couldn’t find the premises as it is in the middle of an industrial park. 7pm closing time ! Upon arrival staff who were still in attendance would only serve us if we paid $150 after hours fee!!! Yet they were still in the premises.

Nothing in the terms on Expedia about a ransom for being 4 mins late! So I call that hidden fees.

Planes run late people and customer service with Zoom doesn’t exist.

Be very careful here about hidden charges. Expedia booking does not recognise the excessive hidden charges. Total scam alert.

Please book with a reputable rental car company and not this group or you will regret it.

Zoom was great. Airport Pick up/drop off was good. The customer service was excellent. Car was in very good condition and clean. Very good price for the rental. No issues and would rent again.

Read your contract (I did not read it in detail until we were at the rental counter) Mileage is not unlimited like other companies and the extra driver is at an additional cost. So you will have to see how many miles you will drive without going over. We were fine with the 1400 miles for the 7 days we rented.

Very nice experience. I choose them because of their great price, but the service was also excellent. A very nice person picked us up from the Calgary airport after when we called them after we landed. They drove us to the agency where our car was waiting for us. The car was clean and in excellent condition. When we returned the car, just had a bit of trouble finding them, as they are in an industrial mall, but they were courteous. We waited 10 minutes then they drove us to the airport. I would use them again.

Everyone at zoom was great, got our car quickly and returned quickly with a shuttle to the airport afterwards. Would recommend if flying into YYC

I have rented cars from multiple companies but I must that say Zoom was one of the most outstanding experiences I’ve had. Everything from the smooth and easy booking process, shuttle service availability, picking/dropping of car, and special accommodation requests speaks to the exceptional customer service demonstrated by the entire Zoom team. I rented for a few months and despite searching alternative options, I ended up extending my rental with Zoom because their cars are very reliable, their prices are much better than other local companies and most importantly, they are one of the few companies still providing an option for choosing only third party liability instead of full insurance coverage. Thank you to the entire team at Zoom for ensuring your customers leave satisfied. I will highly recommend their company to anyone looking for car rental.

The staff and service were amazing! They really went above and beyond to help me out, even though it was a crazy busy day. The executive aisle was a bit bare because of all the rush, but they still managed to get me the Durango I had reserved. The car was in spotless condition!

I recently rented a car from National Car Rental at Calgary Airport for 5 days, and the entire experience was incredibly smooth from start to finish. The pickup process was quick, and the vehicle we received was brand new, clean, and in perfect condition. We had no issues throughout our trip.

We ended up returning the car a bit early—after 4 days and 2 hours—and were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional customer service we received upon return. Yasir, the representative at the return desk, went above and beyond by waiving the hourly fee and charging us for just 4 days instead of 5. We even received a refund for the extra day, which we really appreciated.

Overall, this was one of the best car rental experiences I’ve had. Professional service, great vehicle, and outstanding customer care. Highly recommend!

I was worried that I would be able to retrieve a rental vehicle when I arrived due to a large convention happening and most locations being sold out of rental vehicles. Not only was I able to take my time in choosing a vehicle as an Emerald Member, I also received friendly service from Kelli at National. She processed me through quickly and asked how I was doing. I even asked her what the recommended radio stations were and she provided some great recommendations. Fantastic service, will definitely use again!

Car was OK. Pick up at Calgary Airport was a bit of a gong show but that happens. Drop off was very good. But I was charged $10 a day to have a second driver registered. I did this purely as a safety measure but wasn’t told about the secret $10 second driver fee. I asked for a review of the charge but didn’t get a response. I won’t be using this mob again.

Rented minivan here from May 12-18. Customer service was excellent. The process was smooth and fast. 3rd row seat and is not that clean, but not that really a big deal compared to the excellent service. Highly recommended.

Great sevice and ease of getting and returning the car from National. Just wish the Nissan Kicks I had rented had a little better excelleration when dealing with highway merges and such around Calgary. So I would recommend a different car for driving in cities like Calgary . Even though the car had many great features and comforts , speed when you needed it, was not one of them.

We had a very disappointing experience with the customer service representative named Bastian at the Calgary International Airport rental counter on July 16, 2025.

Upon arrival, Bastian tried to pressure us into purchasing an additional insurance plan at $45 CAD per day, despite the fact that we had already arranged insurance through a third-party provider. He claimed our existing insurance was invalid and tried to intimidate us into buying the extra coverage. When we expressed our concerns and asked him to be honest, his attitude became dismissive and unfriendly.

We stepped away briefly to reconsider based on our budget, and when we returned to proceed with the rental, he told us that only a truck was now available and that no small vehicles remained—despite small cars being available minutes before. This felt like a punitive response to our refusal to buy the insurance.

We ended up canceling our reservation due to the higher fuel cost of the truck and the overall poor service. We left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and disrespected.

Fortunately, we walked over to Thrifty next door, where we were welcomed with excellent service and professionalism. The staff there treated us with respect and provided a great car at a fair price—exactly how a rental experience should be.

I do not recommend this location based on our experience. I hope the company reviews this incident seriously and improves their customer service standards.

They’ll add additional charges to your bill at the end. Make sure you check and collect all the proof and paperwork throughout your trip.

I rented a car, The car was great and in perfect condition. Upon return, I made sure with the agent that fuel levels are full, there’s no damages to vehicle. I took agents employee number just to be safe. I had all the receipts of refueling from my trip.

After couple of days, $30 charge in the name of fuel was added to my bill even when I returned the vehicle in full.
When I reached out to customer support, they said after refueling, you might have driven and lost fuel.

I refueled from a gas station 3km away from airport, they charged me 200km worth of fuel.

Good thing I had all the receipts, proof, gas slips, pictures of car and odometer before and after trip. I had to raise a complaint and after that they apologized and refunded me money.

My friend and I rented s vehicle from Budget Cars in Calgary during our trip to Alberta last May 1 – 6, 2025. I must say, the service exceeds all expectations. From the moment we arrived, Victor – the staff that assist us – was professional, welcoming and incredibly helpful.

The car itself was well-maintained. It was a really nice experience driving it making the trip more enjoyable.

Returning the car was just as easy as picking it up, fast, friendly and efficient. I will definitely be renting from them again and highly recommend them.

I had the pleasure of engaging with Simer at Budget Car Rental at the Calgary airport, and the experience was outstanding. Simer was incredibly helpful, efficient, and made the entire rental process smooth and easy. As someone who rents vehicles often, I can tell you I found her can-do attitude very refreshing. She was knowledgeable about the vehicles and made sure I got exactly what I needed.

The Volvo X90 I rented was exceptional. It was incredibly comfortable, smooth to drive, and had all the features I could have asked for. The vehicle felt luxurious while being practical for all types of driving. From the spacious interior to the advanced tech features, it made my time on the road a true pleasure.

Very pleased with Budget @ YYC. We were happy with the car we received (a brand new Nissan Rogue). We booked the car rental through Costco Travel and got a decent price a few months ahead of time.

The Budget counter was easy to find. Amelie helped up out and she was very friendly and pleasant. She offered us a free upgrade and was able to seamlessly adjust the booking to reflect our new travel itinerary. The return process was also very easy and quick.

Amélie was a delight. Definitely a ray of sunshine early on on a Monday morning. We picked up the Car Monday June 16th @ 7am. Our check in was quick, she laid out all of our options for us, so that we would be well informed on our decision. She helped us with changes to our reservation. Just flawless customer service. We hope to see you again for future care rental reservations.

The car we got was great, 2024 Malibu, very well equipped, and very clean inside and out. The only flaw was the crack in the windshield, which makes me question the legitimacy of the Glass protection insurance…

Other than that, no complaints here. 10/10 would recommend this Budget location for your rental car needs.

Best rental experience I have had. Very easy going, no delay, good prices and great selection of vehicles. I received a brand-new vehicle. Every staff I interacted with was super nice and helpful. They did great to communicate and provide a contact to reach out to for emergencies or any issues. Though I didn’t experience any issues, it gave me some comfort to know I could easily reach out as needed. No hidden fees and they don’t force you to buy the added insurance.

Getting the car was nice and straight forward and nice, but there is a catch! If you did not pay extra for their insurance, they will basically say that there is a minor hail damage and keep your deposit even though there is none. When you are leaving the place, you will notice that no one will check the car when you leave, but when people return, you will see them using a black and white striped reflector board to «check» for dent. In conclusion, I would recommend you to as a stuff to check for hail damage with the reflector before you leave, and make sure to point out even the slightest dent and have workers to add that into the note.

This was the easiest rental experience I’ve ever had. The car was clean and fairly new with all the latest technology for your comfort.
The skip the counter process makes your life easier. Walk to the lot, get into the car in your contract you like and drive away. There is no need to wait in lines or talk to anyone. Guy at the booth makes sure you got the right car and you leave. Return process equally fast and easy.

Only gripe is, if you’re going to rent a pickup, you should provide a top for the flat bed or straps at least. In February, I felt like I was driving snow around the provence.

I rented the car via Costco website. They gave me the free upgrade to the suv. The whole in and out process is easy and smooth. Also , the rental is within the airport. You don’t need to take shuttle bus to ether area to pick up the car

What a terrible rental vehicle! Ordered a cube truck and received an incredibly old and outdated vehicle in horrible state of disrepair. Many features didn’t work, interior panels missing from cab and questionable mechanical worthiness. Not recommended. Go with someone who maintains decent vehicle inventory instead of renting out what is clearly a used former corporate delivery vehicle ( the former owner/operator information decals still visible on the truck )

Rented a car here recently and it was great. Elham is a very nice guy and made the whole process really easy, even when I asked to switch cars. I wish everyone I dealt with at rental car companies was as good as him. I would definitely rent here again.

This is an outstanding Budget location to deal with…..we rented a moving truck for a relocation from Edmonton to Calgary. The online reservation process was simple, they had lots of different vehicles to select from. pricing was the best we found in the city of Calgary for the van we needed and service from the two staff members was outstanding. Overall terrific rental experience….highly recommend this location. We will be back.

Ben was great on check in and I was very happy until our car stopped working and then no one cared or wanted to do anything to help. It was well, we don’t have another vehicle for you. Well you can call Hyundai and see what they recommend. It is NOT my responsibility as a rental to do this. WHY did not one offer any other suggestions.

Our car stopped working Friday night at 9:30pm and we called – Oh no after hours assistance that’s fine we managed to get into the car. Called at 10am – the male staff member working said well we don’t have any other vehicle. I said not my problem please sort something out so I know if I need to come back to Calgary. He said would call me back after talking with his manager. Never did. Called again at 12.31pm as it again wouldn’t start – No answer left a voice message. Managed to get it going again, Car stopped AGAIN – called back at 4:38pm and spoke to a Manni who went back and forth with the Manager (BEN) and the owner (JEFF) who’s only solution was call Hyundai and see what they suggest – WHY is that my responsibility when YOU rented the car. Babied this car ALL weekend to return on Monday and be told well tough luck not going to do anything about it. THIS IS DISGUSTING SERVICE!

Great value. The girls on the morning shift are so helpful and friendly too. I left my wallet in the car and they took care of it. This is my new go to car rental company for sure.

I booked through Costco, which was a great deal. The Avis location on 16th Ave is super convenient. Amir Islam took care of us, and his customer service was excellent.

Our reservation was for an intermediate-sized car, but none were available. Amir gave us a gorgeous Genesis instead, and it was fantastic. We loved it.

Amir also suggested we drop off the car at the airport, which saved us a lot of hassle. The minimal fee was definitely worth it for the convenience.

We’ve had some bad experiences with smaller car rental agencies in the past, where they asked for proof of insurance coverage through a credit card. But with Amir and Avis, there was none of that. I felt that Amir runs an honest business focused on customer service.

Great service and really appreciate the way Reza and Amirul reserved my car. Reza provides a great deal that fits my families long trips.

The staff was very helpful, especially their team member Valentino, who went above and beyond to make our process of picking up and dropping off the rental easy. Summer is their busiest time of the year, so people need to be a little patient. This location also had the cheapest rates, clean and new cars, and the staff seemed to be working extra hard to assist everyone.

The current rating of 3.7 doesn’t accurately reflect the exceptional service we received at this Hertz location. Marc was outstanding—by far one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had in a long time. He was attentive to our needs, friendly, and highly professional throughout the entire process. The only minor downside was that the rental car was only half full on fuel when we picked it up, but other than that, everything was perfect. Highly recommend this location, especially for the top-notch service provided by Marc!

To make matters worse, I was charged incorrect prices – a frustrating surprise when it came time to pay. The employee I dealt with was not only unfriendly but also completely unmotivated, which only added to the overall unpleasant atmosphere. I would strongly advise against going here.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Never Again

I am writing to express my disappointment with your company. This was my first time renting a vehicle, and Carstar suggested going with your company, mentioning you have the cheapest rates. Originally, I was ready to rent from Enterprise, where I had already spoken to someone who offered me a good rate and a reliable vehicle that I could use for at least a month or around 40 days, while my Lexus is being repaired.

However, trusting Carstar’s recommendation, I went with Hertz. I was initially offered a RAV4, which surprised me since I drive a premium vehicle. Then suddenly things changed and I was given a Mercedes. No one explained to me that the rate was going to be significantly higher. I made it clear that I needed the vehicle for only 3 days, but I was charged for 4 days.

Today, I spoke to someone in your office to explain the situation, but I was even more disappointed when she abruptly ended the call while I was still explaining. Your staff should know that when a client’s vehicle is in for repairs, they should not be charged unreasonable rates or upcharges without full disclosure. Unfortunately, it seems you took advantage of the situation simply because insurance would pay for it.

Never again will I use your services, nor will I recommend your company to anyone.

Straight up frauds.

Charged me over 4164$ on my credit card for no reason and took them over 2 months to refund me money which they decided was going to be 3900$ which means I’m still not done with this issue.

Anyways, rental ended in March and now it’s May.

Go to different rental company or a different location at least.

Worst experience ever.

My new husband and I flew into Calgary from Ontario last weekend and had an awful start to our honeymoon because of this company. Their policy on their website and on the phone states CLEARLY that they will stay open for up to TWO hours after closing if a flight is delayed. Of course, our flight was delayed and we were to arrive about 1 hour after HERTZ closed. Upon learning this at 7 in the morning, we waited until 9am to call them when they opened, but could not get hold of a human being on the phone. We called multiple locations but we had to board the plane and couldn’t call anymore, and every one of their locations either didn’t have a car or was closed by 1pm, all automated recordings. We would be landing at 2pm and cab there for around 2:30pm, within their 2 hour policy. We called when we landed still no human answer, so we decided to just drive there and HOPE they honoured their policy. Their doors were locked and no one answered. There was a guy there but he just shrugged, said sorry and walked off. We then had our cabbie drive us from HERTZ to Enterprise, which had no cars, they told us to check Budget, we called them, no cars left… Our driver recommended Avis, we called and they had 1 left that was available for the whole week, so the cab drove us there. Success! The cab fare wasn’t cheap, HERTZ owes us. NOT HAPPY WITH HERTZ. If there is a policy they should stick to it, or remove it. We called again after we booked with Avis, and finally got through to someone at HERTZ’s customer service and we made sure they wouldn’t charge us for THEIR MISTAKE. It all worked out fortunately and the trip went well from then on out, but the first day was very stressful, as our whole trip was centered around driving to different mountain spots each day. If I could give 0 stars to Hertz I would. Avis really pulled through, off to leave a great review with them. It cost us like 1300 for the week, PLUS insurance, a big sale, HERTZ really screwed the pooch there… Never using HERTZ again and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM… ✌️

I arrived at Calgary airport, no car. I called for 2 days, and no one answered the phone. Had to find another rental to come and rescue us. Overall, this Hertz is a disappointment!

I had a really terrible experience with them recently regarding rental car. The guy in charge was kinda rude and had a defensive attitude, not once but twice. He was not even a bit respectful. Not to mention low accountability and standards. I’d never suggest hertz to anyone. Such a disappointment.

Called to report one of their potential drivers acting aggressive at the gas pumps. I was met with a defensive attitude from some male with a south African accent. Told me to call police. Poor customer service skills on the phone. Poor accountability. Poor communication. Regardless if the rental is yours or not, I should not have been met with hostility from staff

Provided a car without winter tires during a 3 month rental over the winter.

On top of this, deceitful business practices. Do not rent from here no matter what, can almost guarantee you will regret it.

Returned the car on time around 4:15 the store was already closed even though the close time was 4:30. Moreover received call from their customer support and the agent was utterly rude.

l come there to get a car and they closed on me on labor day put they allowed people put when we came before he closed he said the system is closed which is a lie no need to be racist never going there again you lost business quick which you do not care but you will care how customers are treated which have self respect too
hope you respect your customer and but out the race out of it too
