Returned to Native Tongues Taqueria for dinner after a long time — and it was like coming home to a familiar favorite.
Nothing has changed, and that’s exactly what makes this place so special. The food remains outstanding: vibrant, fresh, and packed with authentic Mexican flavor. Every dish we tried was crafted with care and tasted just as amazing as we remembered.
Service was impressively fast, and the servers were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming — a true reflection of the hospitality NTT is known for. The prices are more than fair, especially considering the exceptional quality of the ingredients and overall experience.
A big thank you to the entire team at Native Tongues for another memorable meal. It’s places like this that remind you why you keep coming back.
Amit Malhotra (☆ 5/5)

Very solid taco restaurant with generous late night happy hour and mezcal selection.
The tacos are good with decent flavour and variety. The drinks are pretty good too, which is an added bonus.
It’s a solid late night choice if you are in the area, and a favourite for the younger crowd because of their prices and late night happy hour.
Andy Chiang (☆ 4/5)

This was our first visit to the restaurant. Overall, most dishes tasted good, but nearly all the tacos were excessively greasy. However, the barbecue had a unique and spectacular flavor; we ordered two servings, and this dish is a must-try. Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy the quesabirria broth because half of it was like oil.
On the bright side, the guacamole, beer, and Papas Norteñas were fantastic and highly recommended. I particularly ordered the alambre, which was truly exquisite.
We did encounter one issue: a long blonde hair was found on one of our plates. By the time we noticed it, we had already made significant progress on that dish, so it was too late to say anything about it.
Another mishap occurred when the waiter brought one of the flans to our table; he accidentally spilled the sticky liquid on my daughter’s arm, and because he was in a hurry, he didn’t notice. We had to clean it up ourselves.
The desserts were good, and the taste of the café de olla reminded me of home. The carajillo is also a must-try.
I would return to this restaurant for the dishes we enjoyed, but I recommend making reservations.
Nay AL (☆ 4/5)

As a Mexican constantly traveling between Canada, the US and Mexico, trying new Mexican restaurants has become a hobby of mine. I reserve 5 stars only for the very best Mexican food. Native Tongues is certainly deserving of 5 stars. To start, al pastor tacos are the most authentic I’ve had in Canada. True to the roots, cooked in a trompo (gyro), nicely marinated with a touch of pineapple. These al pastor tacos truly tasted like home. The carnitas, carne asada and quesabirria are also great choices and a must try. For drinks, I’ve tried the Paloma and classic michelada with the michelada being my recommendation as it not only tastes great but also tastes like one straight from Mexico City. The only item that was not as great was their Horchata. I’d skip it as it’s a very small size and the flavor is ok at best. Lastly, be aware the prices are high for the food you’re getting. While the food is amazing, the portion sizes are quite small.
Emmanuel (☆ 5/5)

Every time we’re in Calgary, Native Tongues is a must. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home — the staff are always so warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere has that perfect mix of cool and cozy. The tacos? Next-level. Bursting with flavor, perfectly crafted, and honestly addictive. My go-to is the frijoles
And can we take a moment for the margaritas? They’re seriously dangerous (in the best way). Fresh, tangy, and just the right kick — they always hit the spot. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out on one of Calgary’s best hidden gems!
Rebecca Bouw (☆ 5/5)

Really amazing selection of delicious tacos. Absolutely recommend trying the pork belly taco. Also a great selection of cocktails and beers.
Arsalan E (☆ 4/5)

Disappointed by the limited chicken options on the menu. The chips and salsa tasting felt underwhelming — more like store-bought nachos with off-the-shelf Walmart salsas. Lacked the bold, fresh flavors I was expecting. We also ordered a margarita, and surprisingly, it was served in the same cup they use for water, with a half-hearted salt rim. For a Mexican restaurant, the presentation and attention to detail just weren’t there.

Tacos Mexico Memorial offers a truly authentic dining experience. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and the staff are consistently attentive, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable visit. The food itself is exceptional; the flavors are bold and expertly balanced, showcasing a clear commitment to traditional recipes. This place is a cut above the usual, serving up dishes that transport you.
What truly stands out is the focus on quality ingredients and the generous portions. It’s evident that care is taken in every aspect, from the preparation of the dishes to the presentation. The consistent positive feedback regarding service also speaks volumes about the team’s dedication to ensuring each customer feels valued and leaves satisfied. It’s a worthwhile choice for anyone craving delicious and genuine Mexican cuisine.

Customer Reviews
Authentic, deliciously, cravenly Mexican food in a fun, intimate and unassuming setting.
Food: very tasty, authentic, homey, and fresh. I tried the lunch special trio, and it was a great decision. I enjoyed the variety of flavours, textures, and it all balanced one another out nicely. Beans and rice were seasoned nicely. I appreciated how generous they were with sauce.
Service: prompt and friendly. I ordered a horchata that never came, but also didn’t get charged for, and my husband never got his own glass of water. It was during peak lunch hour, and we weren’t too fussed about it. But obviously, that aspect could have been better.
Atmosphere: fun, causal, great authentic vibes. Outside of very unassuming, but it’s a pleasant surprise to see how much personality was inside.
Value: good value for the price, quality and quantity, especially the lunch menu.
Looking forward to coming back to try other items! Be prepared for a wait during peak times.
Joyce Humphrey (☆ 5/5)

What a fun place! From outside it looks like not much but as soon as you get in the vibe is super fun. We were seated at the bar as the place was full on a Wednesday night! Our waiter was super friendly and excited for us as he knew it was our first time eating there. The food was fresh and tasty. We are already talking about our next time going! PS Their margaritas are delicious!!!
Sylvie Monfette (☆ 5/5)

Great Mexican food! It actually has the real Mexican flavour and environment. The service was really good too. Beware that the place is rather small and gets busy quite quickly. If you have to wait for a table, the wait will be worth it!
David Guzman (☆ 5/5)

I had a fantastic experience at Taco Mexico! I started with a margarita, which was perfectly balanced—refreshing, tangy, and just the right amount of kick. For the main course, I had the vegetarian tacos with beans and rice, and they were absolutely delicious. The tacos were packed with flavor and fresh ingredients, and the beans and rice were a perfect complement. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was friendly and efficient. I’ll definitely be coming back—highly recommend for anyone craving authentic and tasty Mexican food!

⭐ A Taste of Mexico Right in the Heart of the City! ⭐
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican flavors, Tacos Mexico is the place to be!
From the moment you step in, the warm and vibrant atmosphere transports you straight to Mexico. The colorful decor, cozy lighting, and friendly staff create the perfect setting for a fantastic dining experience.
The Food – Absolutely Delicious!
Every dish we tried was packed with flavor! Here are our top picks:
Shrimp Tacos – Juicy, perfectly grilled shrimp with a flavorful sauce. A must-try!
Tacos al Pastor – Classic Mexican street food at its best! Tender, seasoned meat with just the right balance of spice and freshness.
Chips with Guacamole & Salsa – The perfect appetizer! The guacamole was creamy and rich, while the salsa had a great kick.
Corona Margarita – A fun and refreshing drink with the perfect mix of sweetness, tang, and a hint of bitterness.
Atmosphere & Service
The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive – orders came quickly, and the servers were happy to offer recommendations. The music, decor, and aromas make this a great spot for a fun night out or a cozy family meal.
Final Verdict: 10/10!
If you love real Mexican food, this place is a must-visit!
Highly recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy a delicious meal and a true taste of Mexico – no plane ticket needed! ✨
Iryna Ponomarenko (☆ 5/5)

AMAZING. Hands down my favorite Mexican food in Calgary. It’s quite far away for me but it’s one of the few places that is always worth a trip. Everything is amazing and very authentic, but I have to give a special shout-out to the tacos. Chicharron, fish, and the new braised brisket tacos are stand outs, but all of the tacos are excellent. The meals are great too! Even the beans and rice are especially good!
Everything about Tacos Mexico Memorial reminds me of my time in Mexico in the best possible way.
It’s all very reasonably priced with great service and fun atmosphere as well. The only thing to watch out for is that it can get quite busy. Make sure to pick the day and time you want to go if you want to avoid the wait.
A must go if you love Mexican!
Scott T (☆ 5/5)

Drove across the city for afternoon Mexican. This place was recommend to me by a friend. It did not disappoint.
Food was great from start to finish. Service was perfect. Restaurant was packed at 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon
Tables turn over pretty quick.
I will be returning many times over

The staff here are amazing!
Fresh table side guacamole! Is so fresh and delicious. Seriously order it!
The tacos we had were delicious. Fish, Pork and Beef .
We had recently two different birthday gatherings and our wait staff really accommodated both events and made for an excellent family gathering of each event.
Zander MacKenzie (☆ 5/5)

We visited Añejo on a Sunday afternoon during happy hour, and although it was quite busy both inside and out on the patio, we were lucky enough to get a table without a long wait, even without a reservation. The atmosphere was lively but welcoming, and our server, Abraham, was absolutely amazing! He was warm, professional, and attentive. He really took great care of us and made the whole experience even better 🙂
One of the highlights was definitely the fresh guacamole! If you order it, they bring all the ingredients to your table and make it right in front of you. You can even choose how smooth or chunky you want it, which adds such a fun and personalized touch. It’s not just about the flavor (which was incredible), but also about the experience of seeing it made fresh right there at the table.
We ordered some Mexican dishes, tacos, quesadillas, and a round of margaritas and tequila. Everything was full of flavor and came out hot and satisfying. It was the perfect way to enjoy a weekend afternoon, great food, great drinks, and a team that really makes you feel welcome.
Highly recommend!
Cami Liu (☆ 5/5)

Had a lovely girls’ lunch here We really enjoyed the tableside guacamole — it was super flavorful and fun to watch them make it fresh right in front of us.
The lunch special✨ came with two tacos and a small portion of chips — just the right amount.
Inside, there’s an entire wall of wine and a super extensive drink menu!
With the warm weather, everyone was sitting outside — it’s pet-friendly too, which we loved.
Tikoko (☆ 5/5)

High-end Mexican, meets every type of tequila you could want.
I’ve been here a number of time.
The taco’s are awesome. I could gain 50pounds eating the Pork and fish taco’s
Atmosphere reminds me of walking into a nice Mexican place.
No booths, but lots of seating, great bar, Carlos, (Bartender) is awesome and knowledgeable. Ideally we are all looking for something unique, calm and enjoyable. ANEJO Delivers a ton of knowledge, types of Tequila and authentic food, without going south of the border. Perfect!
If I wanted to have a great date night, this is the place!

Hands down the best burritos in the city! The food is so good. I usually get the chicken burrito. The chicken is has a little spicy kick to it. They have lots is authentic hot salsas ️ to top it off. I like the tortilla it comes in. The portion size is huge! It’s a casual place with a nice atmosphere. They sell Latino Coca Cola and Inca cola and hot sauces. There’s a cafe as well but I haven’t tried it. It gets busy for lunch Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. The staff are super friendly.
Kari V (☆ 5/5)

Surprisingly great find! UniMarket has tons of Latino groceries, plus a hot food counter and bakery in the back. The birria tacos were flavorful and tender — some of the best I’ve had in Calgary. The Colombian platter was solid too, though a few of the meats were a bit dry.Their tres leches cake was super moist, slightly chewy, and perfectly salty-sweet. Authentic vibes and great variety — will definitely be back!
Pohan Huang (☆ 5/5)

My favorite latino store in Calgary. They have a great variety of latin american products and their food, pastries, desserts and coffee are delicious and authentic. We’ve had breakfast here twice and can’t wait to go back gain. Service is great and the staff is super nice & friendly.
Oscar Soto (☆ 5/5)

Fantastic Latin Grocery/Restaurant. They have authentic plates, bowls, tacos and platters. Everything was housemates and fantastic. Incredible selection of hard to source central american ingredients and products.
Soren Thorsteinson (☆ 5/5)

First time visiting and we will be back! I ordered the fish tacos and tortilla soup (sin pollo) and they were both delicious! My partner had the Mexican bowl con pollo. He loved it. Very decent portion and the chicken was very flavorful. We also had the Soursop juice, highly recommend. Service was fast and friendly. They had a DJ playing, free Empanada samples and the Easter Bunny dancing around. Lively atmosphere, very warm and welcoming! It is busy, go early.

Amazing bandeja paisa and coffee!
We had a fantastic experience at Unimarket Latin Food. The bandeja paisa was incredibly delicious—authentic, hearty, and full of flavor. The coffee was just as impressive—rich, smooth, and the perfect complement to the meal. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. A true gem in Calgary for anyone who loves Latin cuisine. We’ll definitely be back! Muchas gracias!!!
Caleb Fisher (☆ 5/5)

Customer Reviews
As a Calgarian who appreciates a good taco, I can confidently say that Taqueria El Chefe has raised the bar. I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it’s no exaggeration to declare that I experienced some of the best tacos and quesadillas I’ve ever tasted in this city.
From the first bite, it was clear that Taqueria El Chefe prioritizes authentic flavors and quality ingredients. The tacos were generously filled with tender, perfectly seasoned meat, nestled in soft, warm tortillas that held up beautifully. Each bite was an explosion of fresh, vibrant tastes, enhanced by their incredible salsas and garnishes. And the quesadilla? Oh, the quesadilla! It was a masterpiece of cheesy goodness, with a crispy exterior and a rich, savory filling that left me craving more.
But what truly sets Taqueria El Chefe apart, and is a huge bonus for many, is that it’s HALAL. This is a game-changer for those seeking delicious, authentic Mexican food prepared according to Islamic dietary guidelines. It’s fantastic to have such a high-quality option available in Calgary, ensuring everyone can enjoy their fantastic menu.
If you’re in Calgary and looking for exceptional tacos and quesadillas – and did I mention it’s HALAL? – Taqueria El Chefe is an absolute must-try. You won’t be disappointed!
Mahad Shire (☆ 5/5)

I recently tried the birria tacos here, and they were absolutely delicious! The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. What really stood out for me was their keto-friendly option — you can swap out the traditional tortilla for a crispy cheese shell, and it’s a total game-changer! It’s not easy finding places that cater to keto diets without sacrificing taste, but they nailed it. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the overall vibe was great. Highly recommend for taco lovers.
Omar Akkad (☆ 5/5)

Always a Hit at El Chefe!
Tried calling in my order, but couldn’t get through—no biggie though, I headed in because I had to get my usual: the birria pizza and the elote. As always, both were absolutely on point! The pizza is cheesy, crispy, and packed with flavor, and the consommé is rich and perfect for dipping. The elote? Fire. Just the right balance of creamy, tangy, and spicy with that extra crunch. My only wish? Bring back that garlic hot sauce you had a few months ago—it was Bussin! The chipotle’s good, but that garlic hit different. Still, El Chefe never disappoints.
Keely La’Shay (☆ 4/5)

THE MOST ORGASMIC TACOS oh my goodness dear heavens they were so good. The perfect amount of grease, cheese and flavour. Limes were so juicy and the bright. And the Elote was delicious. Place could use a bigger space/tables but overall worth it.
Isabella Contreras (☆ 5/5)

Tiny joint in an obscure business area that one would totally miss if not looking for it, however shortly after opening on a Saturday the line was out the door, that’s how you know it’s legit.
Run by a passionate guy slowly growing his brand it reminds me of the many small taquerias in Mexico with loyal followings due to the quality of the product. We had some queso Birria tacos and of course had to get the Birria ramen. Both were outstanding and the provided salsa roja was smokey & flavourful with a sneaky spice that slowly builds but never gets too extreme. The optional queso for the tacos was added both inside for a gooey cheese and to the outer shell for that crispy bite. Don’t sleep on the ramen, I can’t think of a better use of Birria consume than this….other than just drinking it straight.
The owner was very friendly and after clearing the queue of customers he came and chatted with us about the different peppers he uses in his salsas and dishes. Bringing us some from the kitchen so we could smell and taste.
We are from out of town and will be definitely visiting everytime we’re back. Can’t recommend enough.
Kristjan Bullock (☆ 5/5)

Amazing food! I absolutely adore the birria tacos ($17.50 for 3) with added cheese ($2.50 extra). The consomme and spicy sauce were phenomenal – smoky with great depth of flavor. Unfortunately, the place is small, so seating is very limited. Price is also a little bit expensive, but that seems to be the tendency for Mexican food in Calgary. I’d eat it again in a heartbeat!
Carmen Lam (☆ 5/5)

Extremely unique offering of Mexican food here. At a heftier price, you are not going to be let down by the quality and quantity of food. Tasty meats and gravy for the quesadilla. Limited seating and perhaps the largest group is for 6 people (2-4 ideal) but once again, very limited seating. Great passionate staff here who love what they do.

Customer Reviews
Amazing experience, that really reminded us of Mexico! It didn’t hurt that the weather was Mexico-appropriate as well. The food was authentic, the service was excellent, and the location itself was very Mexico Street food vibe!
We had the street tacos, and every one was delicious and satisfying. The chips and pico was also excellent.
Come and enjoy. You won’t be disappointed.
Craig Borrowman (☆ 5/5)

We really enjoyed our meal at Chilitos Taberna tonight. We had grilled, and all three choices were a hit! Service was really good, but I felt a bit rushed.
We were still chewing when one of the staff came to take our plate away, then it happened a 2nd and 3rd time I wondered if it was just common practice… anyhow I’d still go back and will go back and will be recommending it as a go-to Mexican restaurant for those who ask!
Paula Borrowman (☆ 5/5)

I’m not kidding when I say this is the best and the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in Calgary. The flavour was different and not bland. The pico de gallo was fresh, along with the corn chips was The waitresses were so polite and kind. Tons of drinks to choose from, even a mocktail menu for the kids. Overall a 10/10 would recommend.
Madison (☆ 5/5)

Best taco I’ve had in the states out Canada hands down nothing better!! Look at the size of the chunks of steak in photo! That should be industry standard!!
fender24m (☆ 5/5)

I don’t like giving negative reviews but this place needs some constructive criticism. My husband and I were really hungry and we chose to go for dinner. The environment was nice because we sat on the patio and it was a nice evening. I had no problem with the plastic colourful chairs because they were comfortable and just suited the environment.
The food was edible but desperately lacking in flavour. We ate everything because we were super hungry but it wasn’t tasty. We ordered the Mexican fries to start and they were underwhelming. They seemed to be frozen fries from a bag that were deep fried with some ketchup, sour cream, and a very tiny bit of nacho cheese sauce drizzled over them. They would be so much better if they were fresh with some Mexican seasoning on them.
I ordered the beef enchiladas and the red sauce was watery with very little flavour or heat. The beef was tender but It had no taste. It desperately needed some spices or a marinade. The rice tasted good but it was the tiniest little portion. The refried beans were fine.
I ordered a virgin lime Margarita and it had a very strange taste to it. Kind of a floral perfume taste.
My husband had been there before a few times and liked it but he was also very disappointed. He thinks the menu changed because it’s not how he remembered it.
Hopefully my feedback doesn’t offend. I hope it can help make it better. The food just needs a lot more flavour.

Not bad, good location, large terrace
tacos are regular
regular restaurant go in for a bite
Yuliia D (☆ 3/5)

I had an overall decent experience at Chilitos. The service was great — the waitstaff were polite, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout. However, when it came to the food, I was expecting a bit more. Don’t get me wrong everything tasted good, but just that: good. Nothing really stood out or made me feel like I’d come back craving a specific dish.
I think the food could really shine with a little extra twist of flavor or creativity. There’s potential here, but it just fell a bit short of memorable for me.

Customer Reviews
Just visited this taco spot and I’m still thinking about it! We tried a bit of everything; tortilla soup to start (so comforting and flavourful), then dove into a lineup of tacos: al pastor, chorizo, veggie, papas, carne asada, and pollo asado. Every single one hit the mark. The meats were juicy and well seasoned, the veggie options were legit; not just an afterthought and the tortillas? Perfectly done.
I asked for the spicy salsa, and they did not hold back. Just the right kind of heat that adds fire without killing the flavour. Honestly, these might be the best tacos I’ve ever had in Calgary. Plus, the service was top tier friendly, quick, and super attentive.
10/10, can’t wait to go back.
Venkee Sharma (☆ 5/5)

The place is very cozy, and if you’re looking for a true Mexican vibe, this is definitely the spot to visit.
I ordered the beef birria torta dip — absolutely delicious! It was freshly made, not greasy at all, and packed with flavor. Their salsa is so refreshing and quickly became my favorite part of the meal.
We also tried the burritos, and they’re a must-try when you visit. The portions are generous, and every bite was scrumptious. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this one. (It’s a blast to you palette)
The lady who served us was incredibly kind and friendly. I asked about the price for extra salsa, but she gave it to me for free — such a nice gesture!
If you’re craving authentic Mexican food, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out.

I visited the other day with a work colleague for Cinco de Mayo! We had never been here but heard lots of good things. It didn’t disappoint! The location is a fun lil spot tucked just off Kensington Road. You roll the dice at lunch for parking though. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food, as expected, was amazing. The guacamole was delicious, Berria tacos were great. We also had the 4th street tacos…. Everything was so yummy. We sat outside on their patio in the sun. With music playing, it felt like we were just off a beach somewhere. We can’t wait to come back again. Thank you

Food is good. Could use more protein options for tacos. The price is good. They do have daily specials. I got 4 tacos and shared churro bites for dessert. My cost came to 20.00
Jenn L (☆ 4/5)

This shredded beef taco is a burst of bold, authentic Mexican flavor in every bite. The beef is slow-cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and richly seasoned with a blend of spices that deliver just the right amount of heat
Serena (☆ 5/5)

Our friends took us here for dinner and the food was great. I would have offered more pictures but it was so busy in there I didn’t want to be rude. There were four of us, three had the birria tacos that were delicious and the consomé was very flavourful. Beef Birria Torta Dip is great if you love beef dips just with a Mexican flare.
All that being said I would have loved to give them 5 stars across the board but the service was lacking a little, they forgot about two of our orders and we had to wait a long time for them to bring it out.
Will definitely be back and maybe come when a little quieter and not taco Tuesday…lol

My family and I all had a wonderful lunch and overall an amazing experience. Our server, who may have been a manager or owner, was super friendly and knowledgeable. She helped members of our group select the perfect dishes for them and everything that we had tasted fresh and delicious.
I would highly recommend anyone to try this amazing restaurant.

Terrible Experience – Wouldn’t Recommend
I took one bite, and it tasted exactly like how dog food smells. I thought maybe it was just me, so I asked two others to try it—they both agreed it was awful. My daughter couldn’t even swallow her bite; she gagged and had to spit it out into a tissue. The other meals at our table were barely tolerable. No apology, no acknowledgment from the staff—just the bill. Very disappointing 75.00 lunch.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Foodie (☆ 1/5)

My fiance and I were craving authentic Mexican for date night and Tu Tierra did not disappoint. We had guacamole and the stuffed jalepenos to start. I had the Tu Tierra combination and my partner had the enchiladas trio. Each dish was delicious and the staff was friendly. Will definitely be coming here again and highly recommend Tu Tierra if your looking for a great Mexican restaurant.
Kylie Morin (☆ 5/5)

Tasty Mexican good, generous portions, great service, nice and clean facilities, plenty of parking. Worth to try!. I recommend steak fajitas.
Hugo Laci (☆ 5/5)

I took my work team of 6 here for lunch. I called and asked for a reservation quite last minute and the women on the phone was super accommodating and welcoming.
We were also warmly welcomed when we arrived at the restaurant. The waiter brought us chips and salsa for the table which were tasty to munch on. He also let us know that a couple dishes were not available to order which was unfortunate.
I ordered the beef chimichanga that was smothered in sauce and cheese. Unfortunately, I felt that the chimichanga was lacking in both beef and flavours.
The general consensus was the food was good, not great so would unlikely go back in the future.
Justin (☆ 3/5)

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, look no further. This restaurant has all the favorites. The specials rotate frequently and make sure you leave room for the desserts. The portion size is perfect for a couple to share. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
R St (☆ 5/5)

1 star based on today’s experience only. We have eaten here several times before. Today, we ordered jalapeno poppers. The server did not inform us there were toothpicks inside the poppers. My wife and mother got hurt eating the jalapeno popper. We have eaten here several times before, it never came with a toothpick. Highly recommending either removing the toothpicks or informing customers to be careful.
They don’t even know exactly how many toothpicks are in each popper. The server told us it comes with 1 or 2 and we are supposed to cut it and eat. I am not sure how to eat this dish. It comes with a tortilla, why would one cut it before eating. Obvious way to eat it, is like a taco.
While making the payment, the server accepted that the chef should have removed the toothpicks. She was kind enough to not charge for it.
Sorry for the review. I am just trying to caution future customers, because eating a toothpick can be a choking hazard.

We’ve been trying to come here for over a year and it just didn’t work out. Today though, proved it was worth the wait!
It’s a fun atmosphere, we loved the decor but most importantly, loved the food! Got as close to licking the plate as possible without actually licking! So good!

It was a great dinner! We ordered seafood molcajete and molcajete carne asada, both are great but a little bit salty for us. The fish taco is delicious! They are crispy and juicy. Highlight recommended!

Golden Cactus Mexican Grill is hands down the best spot for authentic Mexican cuisine! From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the tone for an amazing dining experience. The food is absolutely incredible – bursting with rich, traditional flavors that truly transport you to Mexico.
Their tacos are perfection, and the freshly made guacamole is out of this world. Don’t even get me started on their enchiladas – they’re packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and put genuine care into every dish.
The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to make great recommendations. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, the quality and authenticity never disappoint. Golden Cactus Mexican Grill has become my go-to spot for authentic Mexican food. Highly recommended!

We had lunch the other day after someone strongly recommended we try it. Wow!! This is a small restaurant with a large heart and lots of character and charm. It is true Mexican cuisine. Our server was fantastic as he helped us with the menu. We ordered tacos and enchiladas and it was all delicious! International Avenue hits again. Gracias for an amazing experience and we can’t wait to come back again!

I tried a Molcajete for the first time and it was so good! I loved that the meat stayed hot cuz I am a slow eater . Their drinks were also really good! The horchata wasn’t overly sweet and I loved spicy mango anything .

We attended a birthday dinner here over the weekend. The atmosphere was nice, reminded me of sitting in a hole in the wall restaurant in Mexico. The food was phenomenal and very authentic. The only downfall was the service. It took quite a while to put a drink order in. We had to ask for them to come take our order and then the food was ready, they brought out extra dishes that we didn’t order and the birthday girl got her meal last. Other than that, it was so yummy and I would go back and have more yummy tacos!

Food is great. Tonnes of wooden tables/chairs with a few booths on each side, so if you don’t like sitting on a wooden chair I’d suggest a reservation. Was super quiet when we went, so can’t really tell you what it’s like when packed. Great decor. Servers were nice & really attentive but again it was quiet.

The BEST nachos I’ve ever had. House made chips and loaded from top to bottom with chicken, beef, cheese and veggies. Paired with their house made hot sauces this is genuinely delicious. Highly recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Amazing Experience at Casa Catrina!
Casa Catrina is hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve been to! From the moment you walk in, the warm atmosphere and beautiful décor set the perfect tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The service is outstanding—attentive, friendly, and always ready to recommend the best dishes.
Now, let’s talk about the food… simply incredible! Every dish is packed with authentic flavors and made with the freshest ingredients. My absolute favorite shareable plate is the molcajete—a sizzling, flavorful masterpiece filled with perfectly grilled meats, shrimp, nopales, and cheese, all smothered in a rich, savory sauce. It’s the perfect dish to share, though you might not want to because it’s that good!
If you’re looking for a place that delivers delicious Mexican cuisine, fantastic service, and a cozy yet vibrant ambiance, Casa Catrina is the spot. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back!

Authentic and quite delicious 🙂 We got a mix of tacos, chimichangas, and nachos. The drinks were also well made and creamy; we had the non alcoholic pina colada and the horchata, and it complicated the food nicely. Food was served quickly and was fresh and flavorful. Would definitely return!

This is the best mexican food in Calgary hands down! The homey mexican vibe from the decor and the quality of the food and drinks is exceptional.
We went on Margherita Monday and all margheritas were only $6! Amazing drinks, but the nachos fiesta is a must try. I can’t believe how good the nachos platter and how large the portion is.

Was on a business trip and decided to try this place. What a pleasant surprise! Food was delicious. Homemade chips with different dips was good. Tacos were fresh and beef bistec was tasty. Hubby had carne asada. Steak was grilled so well and the marinade was so good. Loved the Mexican decor. Service was good. Place is very popular so was glad we made reservations.
