Very busy clinic. Waited an additional 30 minutes for my appointment and legitimately spent less than a minute with the Doctor who rushed through the appointment and gave the impression that he had better things to do with his time. While I understand dermatology is a business, I do wish AHS referrals were meet with a higher standard of care as this experience has been shared amongst a lot of my peers and colleagues.
On the bright side, the nurse was very kind, helpful, and attentive. She was able to answer all questions and never gave the impression that she was in a rush.
After attending the appointment, the clinic sends you a feedback request. While this is a fair practice, if you decide to give any sort of less than favourable feedback, you complete the survey internally. However, if your feedback is positive, you are redirected to leave a google review. While this is a smart marketing tactic, for a medical clinic it’s ethically dubious at best.

The wait time at this clinic is ridiculous, even with an appointment. They are always running behind the schedule. I had to wait more than an hour for my last two appointments, and this is my third appointment, which is already running more than 30 minutes behind. Since it’s a dermatologist appointment, I don’t have many options. The front staff gives inaccurate information when inquired about the wait time. The staff should address this ongoing issue specifically if they are giving appointments to kids as it’s difficult to keep kids waiting for hours. It doesn’t matter what time of the day you go. I have had appointments both in the morning and afternoon. Doctors schedule 5 mins for one appointment, and I can’t understand how they wrap up one appointment in 5 mins. Very frustrating experience.

Dr Alanen gathers pertinent information and asks relevant questions and gets doing what needs to be done. Dr. Alanen came highly recommended and required my family doctor’s referral, but it took months to get an appointment. I was able to, underwent a consultation, and was prescribed various medications for an unknown rash that I have had since July 2023. I was able to book a follow-up appointment, for many months later, and called days in advance to confirm. I discussed my situation with a receptionist who said she’d speak to Dr. Alanen and get back to me ASAP. I did not receive a call back. On the day of my appointment, I called again to confirm only to be told my appointment had been cancelled. Why no call to tell me? This is extremely unprofessional. I waited months for this follow-up appointment and arranged for transportation, only to have to find out for myself, at the last minute, that my appointment was cancelled. Shame on Derm.ca for treating patients with such disregard!
Update: I received a response to this review and it was dishonest. They claim to have notified me to cancel, but they did not. Furthermore, I was just told by a trusted neighbour, who was being treated for skin cancer, that they did the same to her. They cancelled her appointment without telling her.

I wish i could leave zero stars. I don’t often leave bad reviews, but after our experience with this specialist’s office, I feel it’s necessary to share our story to hopefully prevent others from going through the same distress.
My father has been battling cancer, and during his treatment, he developed a sudden and severe skin reaction. Instead of taking the time to thoroughly investigate, the office hastily diagnosed him with eczema. It wasn’t until later that we found out he was actually suffering from a fungal skin infection, something that should have been identified early on. This misdiagnosis not only delayed proper treatment but added unnecessary stress and discomfort to an already difficult time.
From the start, the staff have been consistently rude, dismissive, and insensitive. There is an utter lack of compassion in the way patients are treated here. Today was the breaking point. My father was seven minutes late for his appointment due to circumstances beyond his control the underground parking facility recommended by their office had a broken payment machine, creating a line and preventing people from exiting. Despite this, the staff made no effort to understand or accommodate. We were simply told that the doctor had already gone to lunch and that there was nothing they could do.
It’s one thing to have policies, but another to show basic human decency, especially when dealing with vulnerable patients who are fighting for their health. This office has consistently shown they are more concerned with time slots than the well-being of the people they’re supposed to be helping.
I would not recommend this facility to anyone looking for thoughtful, compassionate, or attentive care. Patients deserve better.

Our doctor sent a referral for us to see a dermatologist. We drove 2.5 hours to the clinic. As the appointment evolved, it became clear this doctor was not a dermatologist. He was very friendly but unfortunately was not equipped to answer our concerns. After some research we realized he is a family physician with a specialty in sports medicine. We feel like we were totally misled. Upon inquiring the next day we were informed there is only one dermatologist at the clinic and if/when you get to see him, you get 10 minutes. We won’t be back.

I had a very disappointing experience during my recent visit. I arrived 15 minutes early for my daughter’s 2:20 appointment and checked in as instructed. My daughter was clearly very sick and started throwing up while we were waiting. Instead of offering assistance or showing compassion, the staff repeatedly told me to take her to the bathroom—even though I was already struggling to hold her in one arm and a tray in the other.
We ended up waiting for over an hour while several people who arrived after us were called in. When I asked why we hadn’t been seen yet, the staff casually responded with, «I don’t know, maybe you didn’t get checked in,» even though I had clearly done so. The lack of empathy, communication, and organization was extremely frustrating, especially under such stressful circumstances with a sick child. This is not the level of care I expected, and I hope they take steps to improve their service and patient handling.

Overall a good experience as I wanted someplace I didn’t need a referral for the issues that my teenager was having and this place was recommended. It was very busy reception area and the wait was a bit longer than I expected (1/2) even with the warning «label» at the check in area. Dr. we saw was helpful and recommended products, and while they were over the counter products they were a bit difficult to find. Required a couple attempts at different pharmacies.
Overall the first visit was good and will have a better sense of service after follow up visit.

There is no option of zero star, unfortunately i have to rate them 1 star. My wife had skin rash and her condition was too bad.Our doctor referred us to this clinic and this clinic took 5-6 days just to call us, then they gave us the appointment after 12 days. We had the appointment for 12:30 and their building is too confusing, they have two clinic with same name in
same building, one is on 3rd and another one is on 1st floor. After finding their right clinic, we were 7-8 minutes late and without even ask us they wrote no show in their system. We reached their, they said they can’t take us now just because we were 6-7 minutes late. Then again they gave us another appointment after 21 days. Just a normal question guys, it’s a medical clinic obviously who’z coming here just because of their severe condition still that’s how you are treating patients.
I have never seen such a ridiculous clinic in my whole life.

I have been happy with Fresh Laser at every step of the way, from my consultation with Brittany, to seeing Megan for treatments 4 times so far, to the results I’ve seen from the treatments. Megan is thorough, doesn’t rush, and takes the time to make sure the treatment area is looked at in detail. She explains what each step of the treatment is for and provides recommendations for skin care based on my skin type. The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful as well. Great and safe experience overall with great results. I love how comforting and warming Brittany and all the staff members are. Brittany never hesitates to answer my questions for clarity or curiosity sake. She is very thorough with my laser procedure and takes a lot of care in it. Beautiful facility! All of the treatments / procedures I have had from the clinic have been worth it and wonderful. The staff all are super knowledgeable (and wonderful and kind) and do not push products or treatment onto patients. The approach they take is gentle, providing education every step of the way. I feel very well taken care of at the clinic, and always look forward to visiting. Things that I really liked were they cleanse my face prior to, asked me about problem areas so they could target treatment appropriately, then used skin care products that were picked that were best for my skin and skin type. Over the years I’ve had quite a few medical appointments, be it from sports or accidents, overworking and sicknesses. I must say not only is this place aesthetically pleasing, it seemed wherever I stumbled I ran into someone willing to help with an welcoming bright smile! There are a few corridors on the dermatology floor all neatly organized with every practitioner’s area, as I became initially characteristically lost, people who worked in other corridors gladly help me get to the correct one. I have two brutal areas providing horrible skin problems for years not including my ever increasing gargoyle hands. Being I’ve never seen a dermatologist before I had no idea what to expect. The doctor immediately figured out the direction I needed to go in and treatment within minutes and answered an onslaught of questions with ease! The nurse was outstanding, even though one of the skin areas I didn’t leave alone before my appointment and I shamefully picked into oblivion she still somehow with precision accuracy performed a biopsy under my ear overcoming the scab obstacle graveyard I created. I’ve had many tests, medical procedures and plenty of treatments although this nurse was by far one of the most gentle while performing a task that required steady hand accuracy, compartmentalized within a calm mind. Amazing experience; the Doctors enthusiastic approach to my problem followed up by an ambitious prognosis, the nurses outgoing pleasant kind demeanor paired with her surgical talent, and the different front desk teams that guided me to the right area, provided answers to all of my many questions and got me set up with the forms! Thank you everybody at Beacon Dermatology! I have a feeling every corner of this Dermatology floor is going to yield the same results so I’ll avoid using names because it doesn’t matter who you get you’re going to be treated like you’re on vacation by every professional of any kind on that floor . I’ve seen Dr. Poleman 2x. In these 2 appointments she has done more for me than any other dermatologist I’ve seen. She cares and won’t just give up if the treatment isn’t working. Her assistant Alexis is also amazing! She is very responsive and even though I did not have a follow up for 4 months she was able to help me with my insurance documents in order to get covered to start a new medication.

Had a couple of bumps in the road, however everything was resolved in a timely and calm matter. All the concerns and questions I had were answered and feedback was taking into consideration. Dr Andrei was able to take time to call me and explain everything in full detail. Very pleased after all.

Dr.Poelman and her nurse assistant were fabulous! They thoroughly checked me over and removed some concerning spots and then removed a bunch if other growths that I found unsightly and have been embarrassed about for a very long time. They were thorough and yet quick and answered every question I had. They were very nice and made me feel very comfortable. The desk attendents were also very pleasant and service oriented. I see LOTS of Bad reviews and i know why. Susan/ who my wife spoke to, was completely rude and unprofessional when we spoke with her to book our appointment. I called and told the nice man we will not be coming here. Told our physician. She will no longer send patients here. We are the client not the other way around. You lost 4 patients with this one call. Go to charm school and treat clients like people. If your going here, go somewhere else. They aren’t the only one in town. We will now go to Papillion instead. Their staff were very kind when I just called. Im so mad but the best way to deal with Susan, is to not go there. Word of mouth goes far. Susan you are terrible. Know that. Glad we didn’t go here. YOU Shouldn’t either try Papillion or….anyone else!!!!!
