Customer Reviews
This was our first experience of the Fairmont Gold experience. We booked a particular room, a suite, with ‘Club Lounge’ which meant ‘Gold’ in the Fairmont world. ||The Gold experience entitles you to a separate check-in/out on the ‘Gold’ floor, access to the Lounge each day and particular rooms that are labelled ‘Fairmont Gold’ which are spread throughout the hotel. ||Our room, a suite, had a lounge area, but not a separate room. It provided a food space for us to spread out and relax. However, our room was very dark, even though it had 2 windows, so we didn’t spend much time in it, choosing to base ourselves in the well lit top floor ‘Lounge’.||The Lounge was well spread out and felt roomy but in fact was often ‘full’ of seated guests. The breakfast options were good and plentiful enabling a full breakfast experience. The savoury items through the day were limited, think nobles and choc chip cookies. The canapés were just that. Yes, if you are a lot of the canapés you wouldn’t need dinner but, unlike, the Lounge in Vancouver ‘Castle in the Sky’, wasn’t a meal, so to speak. Similarly, the desserts were limited but very tasty. ||What was especially appealing about the Gold experience was the attentiveness of the staff. They were warm and friendly, making a point of catching your eye to greet you and check on you. Further, the maid service noted your interests and treated you where possible. So, for example, they noted my journal and left me a bookmark one day. A lovely touch demonstrating an eagerness to delight. I so appreciated the gesture. ||The room was well priced. This was the second of 3 Fairmont stays during our trip and it was by far the least expensive whilst providing us with a very -positive experience. ||Two things we found strange was that all alcohol consumed in the Lounge was charged to your room via an honour system of filling in a form. We’re not used to that in Australia as our Club Lounges include alcohol. Further, we weren’t able to have breakfast in the our room or in the Hawthorn restaurant without paying for them. Sometimes it’s nice to be waited upon when paying for a quality hotel experience. ||The hotel is lovely. Brilliantly positioned in the heart of Calgary and in a magnificent old building, the foyer being especially spectacular. ||We’d have no hesitation in recommending the Palliser and if we returned to Calgary would likely stay in the hotel.

Everything was amazing! Booking online was easy, contacting the hotel was a breeze, and the welcome when we arrived was so nice! The doormen helped us right away and retrieved our luggage from the taxi, bringing it inside. The front desk was efficient and friendly. Concierge service was helpful. Room was substantial, immaculate, and clean. Room service and the downstairs restaurant and bar were beyond expectations, with delicious food and friendly staff. Housekeeping (particularly Melrose) was friendly, accommodating, and went above and beyond during my entire stay. The spa was amazing! Clean, peaceful, and massage therapy was relaxing and satisfying. Check out at the front desk was easy, and the doormen helped with luggage to the taxi. It was a wonderful stay and I look forward to visiting and staying here again! Five stars and HIGHLY recommend!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this wonderful property.
From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the exceptional hospitality and professionalism of the entire team. Every staff member—from top management to housekeeping—was courteous, attentive, and always eager to assist with a smile.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, offering all the comforts one could ask for. It truly felt like a home away from home.
One small suggestion would be to include a few more options for vegetarians in the breakfast menu. However, this did not take away from the overall fantastic experience.
Overall, I would gladly give the highest rating for service, comfort, and hospitality.
Looking forward to returning again!

Arriving in your own car is a bit of a challenge, restricted left turn to hotel and valet/taxi/drop off area is extremely busy and directly on the street. |Central location. |The Lobby is magnificent, definitely from another era. If you like modern and sleek, this is not the hotel for you. |Since we were celebrating a special event the hotel went out of their way to welcome us and had delightful treats in our room. |Pool/hot tub area was lovely, loads of towels and a bathing suit spinner that takes most of the water out of wet suits. Handy for travel. |We were in the Fairmont Gold rooms, amenities were 1st class, breakfast room was excellent, with wide choice of items. |Ate dinner in the restaurant which was good, service was good. |We did have an issue with a birthday party in the adjoining suite which was too noisy, but eventually they settled down. |The Lobby entertainment is too loud in the evening. Take away their amplifiers!|Getting your car from valet service takes extra time as they park off-site. |Altogether a lovely stay. |Would stay there again.

The staff was exceptional—friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the room was maintained. We really enjoyed our stay! Additionally, the lobby featured wonderful live music, and the food was absolutely delicious. A special thanks to the cleaning team for their warm greetings and for sharing in our excitement during the Comic Expo with our costumes.
The only thing that slightly affected our experience was the noise from loud cars with roaring engines throughout the night. However, we understand that this was out of the hotel’s control. Despite that, our overall stay was very positive.
Beth Sims (☆ 4/5)

Terrific stay!
I absolutely loved my room, and even tho the hotel is not new, the room and all amenities were like brand new.
They have THE BEST BEDS!!! It was truly the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept on.
The breakfast was incredible too. If you’re sweet tooth – definitely go for pancakes, you won’t be disappointed.
The highlight of my stay were definitely the people❤️From restaurant to public attendants and front desk – everyone was so welcoming and made me feel at home.
Special shoutout to Tushar who’s been really helpful and attentive throughout my stay, and made me feel cared for.
Thank you Fairmont Palliser!

You need plenty of time to check in — we stayed there twice and on the first occasion took nearly twenty minutes to check in — absolutely pathetic reception asking questions which they must have answers to as room was booked and paid for weeks ago . Reception dirty and floor sticky —a very unpleasant experience. Rooms very nice and ambience of bar area good in beautiful surroundings. Air conditioning didn’t work in room nobody bothered to fix it — just not good enough for a hotel of this sort

We loved our stay at this hotel. Someone else said it’s a 3 star hotel with a 5 star rating for everything to do with service, comfort and location etc.
Our room was beautiful. Very comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners at Beddington’s each day. The staff there was wonderful. They work so hard and were kind and approachable. I’d like to acknowledge Stephanie, Lyne and Brian in particular but a big shout out to all of the staff there including the chefs. A special thank you to the lady who serviced our room. She did a great job.
The hotel had terrific parking, was close to the zoo, Heritage Park, and the airport.
Thank you

We have stayed here 2 times for a hockey tournament this year. Most recently this past weekend. The staff is exceptional. They provide amazing customer service. I have never known staff to go above and beyond the way this hotel does. Service like this is sadly not seen as much anymore. You can tell they are trained to make the guests happy. The restaurant staff is so kind and accommodating. We asked to move tables, kids and parents were coming and going and they always said «no problem’, and helped us to accommodate. They let us parents sit in the lobby in the evening which was very much appreciated. Callum is an excellent GM and has trained his staff to provide the best service making customers like myself very happy.
Jodi lynn Mazur (☆ 5/5)

This is not a Five star hotel; it is a three star hotel with Five star service and accommodation. Room service was fast and hot and tasty, and the women in charge is great. Cleaning staff were very good; the counter staff were professional and helpful, and the meeting rooms comfortable. The meals we had were fantastic. I’d be happy to come here again. If you do come, you’ll get a kick out of the sultry elevator voice when it says, «lobby» 🙂

I stayed here for a week at the end of April 2025. The hotel is in a fantastic location very close and walking distance to shops. T and T market, pharmacies and restaurants are nearby and within walking distance. Parking is lovely and there is no charge for parking. The hotel provides fruit infused water in the lobby and that is very welcome. My room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The pillows were also comfortable. This hotel provides good quality shampoo and conditioner so you do not have to bring any. They also provide shower cap and other thoughtful amenities . In the kitchenette , there is a mini refrigerator and a microwave and they provide a kettle and a coffee maker with a good choice of tea and coffee selections. The hotel provides a bathrobe and a makeup mirror, which are very welcome . Housekeeping was excellent. They actually clean your room and make your bed every day. This is hard to come by these days in most hotels in North America. The swimming pool and hot tub are lovely but during my stay there were tons of kids and so I was only able to use it twice. Front desk was very helpful and friendly.

I had a great stay! The staff were really wonderful. Good room-service food. Trays removed quickly from halls. Overall, I must say the staff were so friendly and helpful; they really make this property shine.

The Calgary Marriott Downtown presents a consistently positive experience for business or leisure travelers. The rooms are reliably clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and restful stay. Guest satisfaction appears to be a priority, as indicated by the readily available and helpful staff.
Convenience is another key strength. Having on-site food and beverage options, including a Starbucks, streamlines daily routines. The availability of a fitness center with well-equipped amenities caters to travelers who wish to maintain their exercise regimen while away from home. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a comfortable and productive stay.

Stayed here on a recent business trip and had a great experience. The Downtown Marriott is super well located—right in the heart of Calgary and very walkable. My room was clean, comfortable, and had a surprisingly nice view for downtown.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and I really liked the little lounge area and the convenience of having food and drinks on-site. There’s also a Starbucks in the lobby, which made mornings easy.
The fitness centre was another plus—spacious, clean, and well-equipped, which is great when you’re trying to stay on track while traveling.
Would definitely stay here again for business. Solid choice all around.

Not What I Expect from Marriott|I recently booked a 3-night stay at the Calgary Marriott Downtown and was shocked to learn that breakfast is not included even for Marriott Bonvoy Gold members. We’ve stayed at many Marriott properties where breakfast was standard or at least offered at a reasonable rate. Here, it’s $100 per night for two people, and even after I called to express my concerns, the «courtesy» offer was to reduce it to $80. That’s still outrageous.|I was polite and reasonable on the phone, but the staff insisted this was their policy and that the charges were «standard.» I’ve since read other reviews with similar complaints, so this seems to be a pattern. The M Lounge is only for Platinum members, and there’s no flexibility or goodwill shown to loyal guests.|This experience has left a bad taste, and I want to warn other travelers: double-check what’s included before you book. There are better options in Calgary that treat guests with more fairness and transparency.

Great hotel! Clean, tidy, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.
My only concern was the lack of bottled water in the room for environmental reasons, which I appreciate. However, even after requesting a pitcher of water, it was never delivered.

I stayed at the Downtown Marriott in Calgary on a recent business trip and had a great experience. The hotel is very well located—right in the heart of downtown, making it easy to walk to meetings, restaurants, and shops.||The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a surprisingly nice view (considering it’s downtown Calgary!). The bed was great for a good night’s sleep, and everything felt well maintained and thoughtfully set up.||Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, from check-in to housekeeping. I really appreciated the convenience of having food and drink options right on site, plus a cozy little lounge area to relax in during downtime. The on-site Starbucks was a perfect bonus for a quick coffee in the morning before heading out.||One standout feature was the spacious and well-equipped fitness centre. It was clean, quiet, and had everything I needed to get a good workout in—something I really value when traveling for work.||All in all, a solid choice for business travelers. I’d absolutely stay here again.

I was just here over the weekend for a work conference. The room was clean and comfortable. I loved the whiskey bar downstairs, they make a great whisky sour! I also enjoyed the pillow spray and wanted to bring some back as souvenirs for my staff but you could only get them online. However, the front desk was so sweet and gave me a bunch of samples to take home! Thank you for memorable trip!
Riki Lee Arnet (☆ 4/5)

I was booked a room here for Calgary Stampede on a work trip and was highly disappointed with this hotel, despite the fact that it was close to the grounds of Stampede.
Tell me why we are still charging for Wi-Fi in 2025, a hotel like Marriott that is a four-star hotel should have complementary Wi-Fi and Internet for their guests that are paying up to $800 a night.
The hotel’s menu offerings are notably restricted, posing a significant challenge for guests with dietary preferences or restrictions such as abstaining from alcohol or pork.
The rooms are quite spacious and in terms cleanliness, it’s subpar.
I find it utterly ridiculous that Marriott no longer offers daily room cleaning as a standard. It’s baffling to me that guests now have to specifically request this basic hotel service. What exactly are we paying for if not a clean and maintained room throughout our stay?
Tiffany Lai (☆ 2/5)

I booked the hotel because of a business event I had to attend, and it was quite nice. The room was very clean. They have a restaurant and snack areas within the hotel. If that’s too expensive then there are a wide variety of options just in walking distance of the hotel. I didn’t have time to check out the fitness Centre or pool, so I cannot offer any insight referring to those amenities.

The Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre Calgary Airport offers a reliably comfortable stay, particularly appealing to those requiring convenient airport access. Cleanliness is a notable strength, with rooms consistently reported as well-maintained and modern. The hotel excels in providing a supportive atmosphere. Staff are often described as attentive and helpful, demonstrating a commitment to guest satisfaction. On-site dining is a plus, with the restaurant gaining praise for its flavorful food and welcoming ambiance. This makes it a great place for both business travellers and families.

A Nightmare Stay: Fire Alarms, Foul Odors, and Disgusting bathroom/shower!
I recently stayed at this hotel, and it was an experience I’d rather forget. Each night, without fail, the fire alarm would blare, causing unnecessary panic. It’s unacceptable for a hotel to have such frequent disturbances without proper resolution.
Beware: Dining options were severely limited. The only available meal was an Indian buffet, which might appeal to some, but offering no variety is disappointing. Causing the room itself to have a persistent sour smell, making it difficult to relax or fear of it lingering on my clothes. No amount of air freshener could mask the unpleasant odor.
Lastly, the hotel’s location is far from ideal. It’s situated in an area that’s inconvenient for travelers, with limited access to local attractions.
In summary, this hotel failed to meet basic expectations on multiple fronts. I would advise potential guests to consider other accommodations to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.

We stayed at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre Calgary Airport for a quick overnight before our flight, and overall it was a great choice. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable—perfect for getting some rest before a travel day. The location is very convenient if you need to be close to the airport.
The gym was well-equipped. They had quality machines, including a Peloton bike and a Concept2 rowing machine.
The breakfast buffet had good variety and tasty options to start the day right.
One thing to note: the airport shuttle must be reserved in advance and does not run on the hour as some online listings might suggest. Other than that, everything went smoothly and we had a pleasant stay.

My friend’s wedding was hosted here, very clean and responsive staff. I heard there were some issues with the set up at the beginning where lights and fixtures were substandard – However, heard some of the staff stepped in to resolve it.
While we would hope issues are avoided entirely, my friends said the staffs response was commendable.
Plenty of parking and convenient spot!

Had dinner at the restaurant in Radisson and was honestly impressed. The butter chicken hit all the right notes—creamy, flavorful, and comforting. But what really stood out was the service. Lloyd went above and beyond—super attentive without being overbearing. It’s rare to feel that well taken care of. Solid experience overall. Will definitely come back.
Erwin Tandoc (☆ 5/5)

Stayed at this hotel for a hockey tournament that was a required stay and play (all team members had to book with this hotel or be fined with the tournament committee). When we arrived at the hotel a few families were told the rooms we had booked 3 months prior were no longer available. Instead of a room with with 2 queens we were given one with a bed and a couch. We requested an extra mattress/cot and were denied this request. We were offered no compensation for the mix up while other families were offered a 20% discount for the trouble. Another teammates family was told there were no rooms and after very insistently demanding a room they were given a room with one bed and told that they could put their 9 year old and 4 year old in a crib, they were then offered a queen mattress to put on the floor. They were assured it would be up quickly and were waiting until midnight for it to arrive.
Free 24 hour coffee was offered in the lobby and when I went to get some at 6am there was little coffee and no sugar and I approached the front desk to ask if to be refilled. The staff member was sitting in the back office playing on her phone and didn’t even get up to help me and told me to go to the restaurant to get what I needed. It remained unfilled hours later when I went through the lobby again.
Breakfast was cold and took a long time to refill, they clearly were not prepared to deal with the large number of teams/guests that were to be there this weekend.
Parking was limited in the front and we were forced to park in the back and when we went to use the large entrance doors we found they were padlocked shut, when asked to open them we were told to walk around and bring our luggage in through the front. After staring that it was against fire code to have a major doorway padlocked shut it was opened for the rest of our stay.
Key cards stopped working in the elevators the morning of checkout for all members of our team making it difficult to get luggage downstairs.
There was a leak on one floor where staff has placed a bucket on the floor with no caution signs and it was dripping close to a microwave that was on a stand near the ice machine. I was concerned it would be an electrical hazard.
Kim Pregernig (☆ 2/5)

Rooms are very nice, clean, modern and a good size. There’s enough room to hang out and not just sleep, which is always nice if you are staying for more then a day. Rooms have a bar fridge, single cup coffee maker, lots of closets and dressers if you need. Main areas were clean and modern. Pool area needed some work, pool deck was dirty, there were no towels, the slide water pressure was not there, the hot tub jets didn’t really work but the pool area was large and the hours were decent. It’s not really close for walking distance for outside hotel amenities but the location is great if you have transportation. Very close to the airport and the hotel offers airport shuttles. The bar/restaurant in the hotel is affordable and has a good selection of drinks and food. We arrived as there was a power outage but the staff were still friendly and very helpful considering the stress of manually checking guests in, getting them to their rooms, taking payments, ect. They did a good job handling the outage. $300.00/night is a bit steep I think but overall it was a good stay.

I had an incredible experience at this hotel. I had accidentally left behind a gold bracelet in my room, and to my surprise and immense relief, the housekeeping staff found and returned it to me. The honesty and integrity they displayed goes beyond words. It’s clear that the management is running a great operation here — from the professionalism of the staff to the thoughtful service throughout. The restaurant on-site also deserves a shoutout — the food was excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. I’m truly grateful and will absolutely stay here again!

Overpriced during the stampede.
No real complaints overall. Breakfast spread is good. Overall enjoyed our stay.
The underground garage door almost closed on our car! Be warned: when it opens it seems to be on a timer (as opposed to using a sensor ensuring you have driven through) when deciding when to close! Don’t be too slow!

The hotel is well situated with plenty of cafes, restaurants, a supermarket , a bottle shop within a few minutes walk. The room we had was renovated, had a kitchenette, good air conditioner, and a very comfortable bed. Tv in the living room and bedroom, safe, microwave, iron and ironing board. All staff we encountered, reception, cleaning, kitchen and maintenance were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast room was very clean and had a good variety of items to choose. It’s not a full on buffet but you could choose cereals, waffles, eggs, hash browns, toast, juice, tea, coffee and yoghurt with berries and muffins . Plenty of choice for all tastes. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. We travelled from Australia and stayed here 4 nights.

Probably the best service I’ve had at a hotel post Covid. Alot of other hotels have decreased their housekeeping and services since Covid, but not this one. I stayed here in March for over 3 weeks. The manager and staff were extremely accommodating and helpful to me during a stressful situation. My home flooded and I needed somewhere to stay and was unsure of how long I would need. The manager and the staff at the front desk easily extended my stay for me whenever I needed. The rooms had all been recently renovated, and housekeeping cleaned the rooms every day. The breakfast in the morning was also perfect for a hotel breakfast – everything you would need, and they changed it up every couple of days. The hotel itself is kept very clean, and it is situated in a great area in the Beltline. My family and friends stay here now too when they come to visit me from out of town! Couldn’t have asked for better accommodations. The kindness and hospitality of the manager and staff members here is outstanding. It was truly a great experience in the midst of a very stressful home situation.

Reasonably priced hotel in Calgary. Room amenities were good and the room was well cleaned. Don’t be put off by the exterior of the hotel. The inside was fine. Only recommendation would be to park in the underground lot as the night we were staying there a car had one of its windows smashed and contents taken. Sadly, Canadian cities once used to be safe or not anymore.

Great Stay in Downtown Calgary!||I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The value was excellent, offering a wide variety of room types to choose from. Customer service was top-notch, and as an elite Platinum rewards member, I was upgraded upon check-in. The breakfast spread was impressive, with both hot and cold options, and the breakfast attendant was always on top of refills, keeping everything clean and tidy.||A special shoutout to the gentleman who checked me in (unfortunately, I forgot his name) – his customer service was exceptional. When my phone charger stopped working, he kindly gave me one to keep, saving me a trip to the gas station.||Though my room was a bit older and showed some wear and tear, it was still very clean. The hotel is undergoing renovations, but the workers kept noise to a minimum, and they were courteous.||The hotel is located in downtown Calgary with affordable, secure underground parking. I’d definitely stay here again for business and highly recommend it to others!

We booked online and initially our room was sun facing during a bit of a heatwave, our air conditioning was working but wasn’t cooling the room at all. We inquired with the front desk and sent a maintenance worker to investigate but ended up just swapping our room to one in the opposite side, much cooler and we were much more comfortable! We are grateful they were able to make this change!
tiana lang (☆ 5/5)

I would like to say this has been the worst experience of a hotel I’ve ever had and as a Best Western Platinum member I’m very disappointed and won’t be returning. First off, checking into the hotel the rate had changed by $400 to almost $1200 while in the system it said $755. I even had a confirmation email sent with that amount. Secondly, the microwave in my room was all black inside and asked to have it looked at so they didn’t think I damaged it. They brought in a new one. Lastly, on Tuesday morning I am hearing construction noise going on and ask the front desk they said they are fixing the elevator ok but then find out both elevators are being fixed and don’t work. Hows that possible when an elevator is for accessibility for people and I understand I’m young and can walk up 12 flights of stairs up and down while complaining all the way but elderly people and people in wheelchairs can’t. This is a basic function of having one working elevator. When I asked the front desk and asked that the flyer said the elevator will start in the afternoon they said that they were surprised and just found out. Take some responsibility that they are there earlier then mentioned and that you as a company have the right to ask them to get off your property or it’s considered trespassing. You let contractors boss you around when it’s your hotel and your elevator. I was fed up at this point that I got my two suitcases and two big bags and left the hotel and cut my stay and found another hotel to stay at so I wouldnt be inconvenienced. Overall, Best Western or I’ll call it Worst Western this isn’t the way you treat a Platinum member who has stayed and spent lots of money with your company. Overall do better and treat your customers especially your Platinum and Diamond customers with basic respect and decency. Absolutely disgusted and won’t be staying Best Western anymore I’ll stay in another hotel.

Guests often appreciate the consistently friendly atmosphere, leading to a feeling of ease and satisfaction during their visit.

The rooms are pretty dated, we got a king size room and it was very small inside. The hotel has centralized AC and each room is allegedly set to 20°, it was 21° outside and it felt nicer outside than it did inside. There’s no way to control the AC in your room, and it was super hot inside. We had to go and buy a fan for $20 from Canadian tire. We were told the AC would be fixed and set lower, I wish we had known there was no way to control it before we booked for the stampede. The valet service was great if you can get it. I called the front desk twice about the AC, and then about the restaurant, I was told I’d be called back but no one ever called. The location is great, but for the price the rooms need an upgrade and staff needs better customer service training for issues.

I recently stayed in a room in downtown Calgary. The room itself was clean and well-kept, which I appreciated. However, it’s clear the building is quite dated—especially noticeable in the bathroom, which could definitely use a refresh.
For the price point, I’d say it’s in the mid-to-higher range, so expectations are naturally a bit elevated. One of the standout positives is the rooftop pool—definitely a great feature, especially in the summer. The location is also central, which is convenient for exploring downtown.
On the downside, parking was a hassle. There didn’t seem to be any designated parking, and the front desk suggested using street parking, which is only free until 7 a.m.—not ideal if you’re hoping to sleep in.
Overall, it’s an okay place to stay if you can get it at a good rate. The main draws are the central location and the rooftop pool, but be aware of the parking situation and the dated feel of the building.
Also some other key points.
The pool was extremely cold
And I wouldn’t even bother requesting late check out. They couldn’t offer it.
And entertainment is lacking in the area.
The buffet for 17 bucks a person on top of the price for the quality of the buffet does lower it as well too. The food was good but limited options.

We had a great stay at the Ramada in Calgary! The location was absolutely perfect—just steps from great diverse restaurants, bars, and everything we needed during our time in the city. It also turned out to be the ideal base camp for our long day trip to Banff, which made everything super convenient.||The room was comfortable and clean, and we especially appreciated the bathtub/shower combo with endless hot water after exploring. The area felt very safe, and the staff went above and beyond—everyone was so friendly and helpful. For the very reasonable price, this place exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Calgary or looking for a jumping-off point to the Rockies!

Kelly, at the front desk, showed kindness, great customer service, knowledge of the festival «Cowboys» and Stampede festival. She acknowledged my worries and helped me get into a room even though they were close to full occupancy. Sarah, the Supervisor, was watching and helped make sure that I got into the most accommodating room available. Thank you for being so helpful for time in Calgary .

This place is very near the trams so was great. Also its located near shopping malls, cafes and restaurants.
The in room facilities were sufficient albeit the condition is a little run down and dark especially the carpets.
If you needed kettle you got to request.
The AC is centrally controlled which is rather an ancient technology, i haven’t been into a hotel where its centrally controlled for 15 plus years! If its too cold- you’ve gotta request for portable heater or extra blankets.
Didn’t try the other facilities in the hotel.
Staff was reasonably friendly but they were really busy.
Deanna Lee (☆ 3/5)

This hotel is significantly cheaper than most others in the area. The common areas are old, dark, and dirty. Reminded me of a dungeon when I walked in from the street. Everything about the room was old and patched together. I had to return to the lobby 3 times to get a working key for entrance to my room. I’m pretty sure there was gum stuck to the bathroom floor. Other than the run-down appearance and the gum, the carpets, bedding, and shower were very clean. I did not eat in the restaurant, so I can not comment on the food. The surrounding area (2 block walk to McDonalds) was filled with homeless and drug addicted people. They didn’t seem to bother anyone, but I would absolutely not want to walk around with small children. Overall, I would consider staying here again as a last resort and only for a night. I would not consider this hotel for a family vacation or multiple days.
U5857PQstefanies (☆ 0/5)

The hotel is in a safer area and is very clean, both inside and out. Our room was on the smaller side, but comfortable and clean. The beds were very comfortable so we had a great sleep. Overall the hotel was quiet, even though there were many guests there for the weekend. Our favorite part was the citrus water at the front desk, which was always full for us. I would definitely come back to stay at the Ramada Plaza.

The staff in this Hostel weren’t exactly friendly when compared to some of the others at HI Hostels I have been to. Breakfast is only served from 8, forget about getting anything in case you have to check out before that time.
You get the bare bone minimum to the point where I was positively surprised to see shower gel in the showers. At least the location is great in the middle of Calgary.

Very nice places to stay if you need a place to sleep. The private rom we had was nice and clean. Good hot water pressure and temperature. The only downside was the bed we had. It sloped from the middle. So it felt like you were going out of bed. Overall it was good, it was in a great location and the staff was very friendly.
Mark M (☆ 5/5)

We have stayed n several hostels across Canada and many across the world. Well located easy walking distance to city centre. This one we had a room with bathroom- so don’t know that life in dorms are like. The kitchen, with the exception of the tiniest microwave, was very well appointed- the breakfast was plentiful and varied. On,y down side was the wafting of cigarette ( and other smoked fumes) from the permitted smoking area into our room- most other hostels have a no smoking on premises rule.. special thanks to Thomas who despite some serious technical [door key cards) kept his professionalism and sorted things out for us..
NathalieAndAndrew (☆ 0/5)

If you’re looking for a place to stay and want to feel well rested I advise forking out for a private room or a different place altogether. Even with earplugs in every single bed in the female dorm I was staying in was soo unbelievably loud anytime you move. If people are staying up late or checking in late you’ll barely get any sleep. Also if you hope to sleep in earplugs are a must otherwise you just hear the Spanish housekeepers conversation yelling across the hallways. I mean it is a hostel and cheap is cheap. With all the being said the place was very clean, kitchen bathroom and rooms and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Lucy Adjei (☆ 3/5)

It is a good location if you’re interested in the downtown area. The trains going south, north, and west are a short walk away, and Uber is very convenient. The atmosphere is a bit subdued in the common areas. The dorms have air conditioners that leak ice cold air into the rooms, and the top bunks are awkward to climb up to. The kitchen is equipped minimally but very functional, and food storage is available. Previously, the building smelled because of dirty carpets, but that’s been taken care of. Parking is free overnight and on Sunday, but it’s on the street and if you can’t find any free parking there are private parking lots nearby that will be happy to take your money. The staff is very friendly and pleasant and the front desk is manned overnight, which is great for late arrival. Breakfast is «free,» but if you have to leave before 7:30 am, there’s none set out. Good value.

I stayed one Tuesday night, have stayed here multiple times. It never ceases to amaze me why this Hotel makes the sign in for wifi so drawn out…make it simple folks. Then once I’m on the wifi I streamed the game I wanted to watch the picture on the TV was awful. Old TV. Otherwise the room was fine, the breakfast for Hotel Breakfasts was pretty good. The Lady that was in charge is very diligent with cleaning. Very good job. All in all the price was fine and I had a good sleep. Secure underground parking. Thank you.

Don’t forget when booking that there’s two Hilton’s around the airport! Their staff were courteous, able to help with basic necessities. Their pool was pretty gross though, it needs some repair, cleaning and lighting. Breakfast was alright, make sure you wake up early for the good stuff! Besides the pool, the place is clean.

My recent experience at Hampton Inn & Suites NW Calgary was the worst I’ve ever had at any hotel — and I’ve traveled extensively.||||I had a confirmed reservation through Expedia, clearly marked «Pay at Property.» However, upon arrival, I was shocked to be told by Jamie at the front desk that my reservation had been canceled by the hotel due to a «payment issue.» This was both confusing and frustrating because:||||1. No attempt was made to contact me. There was no email, no message, no phone call to notify me about any payment issue.||||2. My credit card is fully active and has ample credit available. No explanation was given for why the charge failed, or even why they attempted to charge me before check-in in the first place — especially when my booking was supposed to be paid on arrival.||||3. When I asked to honor the original booking rate, I was flatly refused. Instead, I was told to make a new reservation at a higher price. Jamie’s response? «It’s not my problem — take it up with Expedia.» I asked to speak to a duty manager, but he said they were at home and «unreachable.» His tone became increasingly hostile, and eventually, he told my family and me to leave the premises and threatened to call the police.||||My wife and child were shaken, and we were left in a completely unfamiliar city, without accommodation or support. The emotional toll was significant, made worse by the sheer indifference and rudeness shown during a moment of vulnerability.||||Most concerning is that this appears to be a recurring issue. A review of public comments on Google and other platforms reveals multiple similar complaints from past guests—specifically involving the same staff member and similar conduct. This indicates a pattern of poor service and mistreatment that hotel management has repeatedly failed to address.||||This experience has seriously damaged my trust in both the Hilton brand and the travel booking process. We will never return to this property and strongly advise other travelers to think twice before booking here.

Unacceptable Emergency Response – Unsafe for Seniors
We recently stayed at Hampton Inn & Suites while traveling with my elderly father-in-law, who had his own room. On Monday morning, he slipped on the tile bathroom floor, fell hard, hit his head on a sharp metal tile border, and injured his shoulder so badly he couldn’t get up. He was locked inside his room and couldn’t reach the door.
We heard him calling for help and rushed to assist, but he had deadbolted the door. We immediately contacted the front desk and explained the situation. The staff member came up with a key that didn’t work. He then left to try other keys—which also didn’t work—and eventually said, «I’m not sure how I’ll get in there,» before disappearing back downstairs.
It took 37 minutes before we were able to talk my father-in-law through the pain and confusion so he could crawl to the door and unlock it himself. During this time, the front desk attendant admitted he was waiting for the computer system to reboot and came out of the back carrying a space heater when I went down again to press for help.
This response time is absolutely unacceptable. Had his injuries been more severe—or had he lost consciousness—this delay could have had devastating consequences. Fortunately, he escaped with only bruised ribs, a painful shoulder, and a cut to the head.
When the manager finally got involved, the only compensation offered was one free night out of his three-night stay and a shrug: «There’s not much more we could’ve done.» That’s simply not good enough.
Hampton Inn & Suites failed a basic safety standard: being able to access a guest’s room in an emergency. If you’re traveling with seniors or anyone who may be vulnerable, I strongly advise you to think twice before staying here.

We stayed at this hotel during the Jeff Arcuri show at the Grey Eagle Casino. It was relatively easy to get to from the show. There is a little bit of construction being done on the outside of the building but it was not disruptive at all. The staff are very pleasant to deal with and the housekeeper on our floor was very friendly. We used the breakfast that was available and quite enjoyed it. There is a good selection and everything was fresh. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. I like the mobile check in feature with Hilton as well. We didn’t use the underground parking because we had a truck so we weren’t too sure how much room there would be. There’s a few parking stalls just outside the main doors. ||Overall this was a great stay and we would stay again.
amandad131 (☆ 0/5)

This is the worst Hampton Inn that we have ever stayed at. We trusted TripAdvisor reviews, 4.3 overall and hence booked this hotel. Surprisingly, the actual product did not match the reviews. We cut our stay from 5 to 3 days and filed a complaint with the Hilton corporate office. In order to avoid others going through the same fate, we decided to write a review.||The hotel is under renovation with tapes or construction materials covering most of the exterior of the hotel. There was an overwhelming musty smell as one entered the lobby. The furniture overall was tired and needed replacement, especially the sofas and chairs. The ice machine was old and there was questionable buildup at the base of the ice machine. The cleaning staff did try their best to keep the rooms clean, but how much could one do with paper thin towels and sheets?||To be fair, the hotel operator and Hilton both responded to our concerns. Hopefully the issues will be rectified in due time. In the meantime, the hotel should at least indicate that it is under renovation on the website so customers can make an informed decision.

I had an excellent stay at the Holiday Inn Express Calgary Downtown!
From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and accommodating – truly some of the best hospitality I’ve experienced.
The hotel was spotless, and it’s clear they take great pride in maintaining cleanliness throughout. The recent renovations have given the space a fresh, modern feel, making it an even more enjoyable place to stay.
The location is perfect for anyone wanting to explore Calgary’s downtown core. With easy access to shopping, restaurants, and attractions, it was so convenient to get around. I’ll stay here again on my next visit!
Secure and plenty of parking available.
Underground parking is added value.
Highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure travelers!
Vipul Bhongade (☆ 5/5)

We stayed at Holiday Inn for 3 nights. The property is quite dated, with lots of visible patchwork and little visual appeal. Parking is very tight, and although there’s a second-floor parking area, maneuvering into it with a larger vehicle is a real challenge.
The bathrooms are just okay, and the carpets are noticeably dirty. Breakfast is repetitive and uninspiring — the same menu every day, with extremely salty pork sausages.
Overall: Not worth the money. Needs serious updates and better maintenance.
Biju Varkey (☆ 3/5)

This hotel is in a great location right downtown, and everyone who works here is friendly and helpful. Room was clean, service was great, and they went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Pizza restaurant next door is fantastic, and the comedy club offers a 50% discount for hotel guests. The worst thing you could say is that the place is old and feels a bit dated, but I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely wonderful stay!
As an IHG Elite member, I didn’t request an upgrade, but to my surprise, I was upgraded to a suite—which was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. What stood out even more was the exceptional service. A staff member kindly guided me through the parking process over the phone and even came out of the building to greet me upon arrival.
The hotel’s location is excellent—there were plenty of food delivery options nearby via Uber Eats, which was very convenient. Overall, the service, room quality, and thoughtful hospitality made this stay truly memorable. Highly recommended!

Upon walking into the hotel, Abdul greeted me and had me checked in swiftly.
The room was clean and tidy, more than I was expecting for a 3 star establishment.
Great location and free parking on site, was definitely helpful to have during my time there.
Special shoutout to Abdul as he was always happy to say hi and make sure everything was ok with my stay, something you see at 5 star establishments.
Overall great experience with the hotel and all the staff. Was not able to try the included breakfast, although looked good!
Will be coming back for future stays.

Well the staff was great and super accommodating ! Can’t complain there. Issues were that the rooms were hot, extremely hot . The only relief was opening a patio door which was also a downfall being beside the train. Location is ok being downtown but very noisy stay. Rooms were tidy enough, but in rough shape. The lights in the bathroom crooked, toiletries bolted to the wall indicative of a cheap hotel. Complimentary breakfast is always a plus but everything was either stale or cold including a coffee that I wasted and tossed. Would give 5 for service everything else hovered around a 2! I’ve stayed in many holiday inns and this one was one of the worst for services, hotel quality, quality of food and overall maintenance of the hotel. Travel lots for work, wouldn’t go back. Still like holiday inn for the price point vs value, this one is an outlier . Book elsewhere
Tina Lamb (☆ 3/5)

Staff were great! Room was also spacious and even had a small kitchenette area.
The reason for the low rating is that they only have one small elevator for the entire hotel. It’s slow throughout the entire day, but the main issue is around checkout. We were on the 5th floor and three times the elevator showed up completely full with no space left. After the third time I had to carry all of our luggage down the stairs.

The Emerald Hotel & Suites Calgary Airport appears to offer a budget-friendly option near the airport. Based on information gathered, the cleanliness of the rooms seems to be a point of concern, with some reports detailing issues that suggest a need for more rigorous upkeep and sanitation. The availability of amenities like a fridge, microwave, and TV are positives.
While certain aspects, such as the on-site Indian restaurant and some staff interactions, have received praise, the overall condition and management’s responsiveness to guest concerns appear to be areas needing improvement. Potential guests should carefully weigh these considerations when making a booking, and should inquire specifically about recent improvements made to the property.

Preet is a kind and patient man in the lobby, he provided great customer service. He helped calm a situation and he translated for my mother who knows little English. Two thumbs up.
The room on the third floor is good and clean enough for a 2 star hotel. I didn’t smell smoke in my room. The beds, pillows and sheets are clean, and the mattress is a little soft but tolerable for good sleep. There is a bit of occasional noise from the airplane because the hotel is near the airport. The walls are a little thin, so if you have a noisy neighbour tough luck. The bathroom is renovated and clean. The amenities like the fridge, microwave, and TV all work. The clothes iron and board are there but I never needed to use them.
There is a gym, private bar and an Indian restaurant on the first floor.
The negatives are the price, it’s about $300+ a night during Stampede week, no free breakfasts are included and one of the elevators was not working.
Jim Z. (☆ 5/5)

Stayed during Stampede weekend. This is a decent budget hotel, but definitely more in the 2- to 3-star range. Cleanliness was acceptable for a guys’ trip, though there’s room for improvement.
A few issues during the stay: the door to my room was open and unlocked when I first arrived. The ironing board was missing, and the one eventually provided was damaged. The water price listed on the vending machine didn’t match what I was charged. Another vending machine took my money without dispensing the snack.
There was a power outage due to AC replacement work, and the AC in my room barely worked. The staff were friendly and helpful, but it’s clear that management or ownership needs to step up in terms of upkeep and consistency.
Overall: A passable choice if you’re on a tight budget, but I personally wouldn’t stay here again.
xpxo98 (☆ 2/5)

My husband booked this hotel as he had to work at Stampede. Prices were soaring so he booked this hotel before researching it. BIG MISTAKE. I am a flight attendant and also work on my companies hotel committee so I have been in hundreds of hotels over my career. I can honestly say this was the absolute worst. Where to start?
The customer service is non existent, unhelpful, rude and curt.
We paid almost $300 per night to stay in the dirtiest dump I have ever experienced.
I’ll list why …
The floor was actually sticky, there were stains of who knows what all over the walls, tiles, floor, everywhere! The tub was filthy, long black hair everywhere, the toilet was dirty, weak water pressure, the bed was something out of a teen camp, lumpy pillows. The mini fridge worked fine. That’s the o ly positive I can muster up. I could go on but please take my recommendation. Avoid this property.

First problem with the booking . Make sure that if someone book your room for you ,they got to be physically here to used his/her credit. M boss had to drive and solve the problem. Breakfast is a jock no sugar beside the coffee I have to go and buy my coffee outside .
but they started to change, they put the coffee and tea in your room and they started cleaning the room perfectly. The room now excellent .
towels are changed daily .
The Front desk were confused on the phone solving other people problems and ignoring the guest . But now the changed too I can see more smiley faces , and they look more attentive .
the elevators was out of order for 6 days , now one of the Elevator is working
Noisy room due to airplanes flying every hours or so . Other people play loud music so make sure to book a room away from parking of u hall and ask for quiet room.
I give 5 stars for the restaurant downstairs excellent cook. No infection violation that I can see .Location and price are great hope in the future I can give 5 stars .

If I could give a rating lower than one I would! This place is disgusting! You first walk in the room there’s paint over dirt all over the room drip marks from drinks all over the walls. The toilet and the tub were discussing there were black hairs and looks like blood that were on the toilet. There’s chips all out of the doors and the frames and it’s loud and it’s right under a path of the airplanes. Do not stay here! It is disgusting!

Please never ever go to this hotel. We had the worst experience with the hotel rooms and bed when we checked in. When asked staff to change room, they showed the same room. They just put the spring mattress on metallic bed which I have never ever seen in a hotel room. People come to hotel room to enjoy trip or relax but there were too much dirt and stain on the floor, we asked staff for the refund and they denied, they just said call to booking site. No co-operation at all! We ruined pur trip because of this hotel booking online. One of the dirtiest hotel rooms, even old houses basements better than the hotel rooms. Please don’t book it online or offline. Better stay home.

Absolutely Horrible Experience – Unsafe for Children!
I booked this hotel for my cousin and her 1-year-old daughter, and it turned into a nightmare. Shortly after checking in, my niece had a severe allergic reaction due to the condition of the room. It was clearly not clean or properly sanitized. This is a serious health and safety issue, especially for a toddler!
They had no choice but to check out early for the safety of the child. We requested a refund for the remaining two nights multiple times, but the hotel completely ignored our inquiries. No apology, no accountability—just total disregard for a serious situation.
It’s shocking and heartless how they handled this. This kind of negligence could’ve had life-threatening consequences. Do not stay here—especially if you’re traveling with children!
