I’ve had such a great experience at Barre West! I started with their Mom and Baby Pilates class when I was about seven months postpartum, and it is the perfect way to ease back into gentle movement after having a baby. The class is welcoming, relaxed, and thoughtfully designed for new moms. I really appreciated that the babies are not just allowed but genuinely welcome—and that the instructors keep the door open for late arrivals, which, as any new mom knows, is incredibly helpful.
The class offers lots of modifications, which I found great. Personally, I had already returned to regular exercise by the time I joined, so it was a bit on the easier side for me, but still very enjoyable and a wonderful way to get out of the house with baby in tow.
Since then, I’ve been taking their Monday Ass & Abs class, and I can’t say enough good things about it. It’s been absolutely fantastic for helping me rebuild strength and re-establish that vital mind-muscle connection, especially in areas affected by pregnancy. I’ve felt real progress from these classes.
The instructors at Bar West are knowledgeable and attentive, offering clear form cues and always making sure everyone is moving safely and effectively. I’ve been to fitness classes elsewhere where people are doing entirely different things and the instructor doesn’t say a word—not the case here, which I really appreciate. They also provide options to make movements both easier and more challenging, all while maintaining a supportive and body-positive environment.
The studio itself has a great vibe, and the front desk staff are always friendly and welcoming. I genuinely look forward to every class. Highly recommend!

We tried the 2 free trial classes at the Shepard location with my Son in the kids parented class and my Daughter in the Teens class. Logan and Betty were really friendly and encouraging coaches. It wasn’t intimidating at all to jump in even though we had no prior experience at all. I really appreciated that Logan makes an effort to know all the kids names and involve them all in the class. The second Teens class was really busy and I noticed the adult coaches jumped in to help out. Seems like a really great atmosphere. Nikki was also a great help, answering my many questions over email and coordinating the whole process. Both kids decided to sign up.

This place has the best customer service (Nikki is amazing), best pricing, and quality of classes. If you’re looking for an interactive class, look no further. My son did the trial classes, and there was no time for him just to sit around. I love the parental involvement in class. Coach Logan is very friendly, very kind, and he knows how to work with kids. He also has an assistant, so no kids will be left with no instructions. After the 2nd trial class, I asked my son if he enjoyed it, and he said «I want to come here everytime this place is open!» That’s how much he loves the class, and this is his first time doing any martial arts training. We decided on Elite Martial Arts Academy after an extensive google search, reading all the reviews and speaking with Nikki the choice was easy. My son is special needs and they are very accommodating and helpful in teaching and ensuring that he feels included. We tried our first class this weekend and felt very welcomed the minute we walked in the door. My son is one to usually sit on the sidelines until he is comfortable enough to start interacting. Betty was amazing at getting him to join in right away. The smiles on his face the entire time and the laughter was all I needed to know we were in the right place. I love that this is a parent involved class as well.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience working with Christine at Jensen Fitness!
I have been working with Christine virtually for over a year now and have learnt so much from her. I love having all of my workouts planned out and personalized for me, all I had to do was show up to the gym and execute.
Having Christine as a coach has made it easy to stay accountable and complete my workouts every week. Christine is so prompt in answering questions, and is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to fitness and diet.
When I started the program, I was 6 months post hip surgery and I credit Christine’s coaching and personalized programming for helping me recover. With Christine’s help I now feel stronger than ever – we have built muscle, improved my flexibility and mobility, improved my posture and lost fat.
I also had a great experience working with their dietician. Christine and Rachelle had a very balanced approach to food and I never felt hungry or deprived. I’m now equipped with some healthy, easy meals that I continue to reach for.

I completed 3 months of personal training with Nick and it was well worth the time and money. I came into the process having very little experience working out and wanted to learn how to properly utilize weights and equipment. When I started with Christine I was a menopausal mess. I had zero energy, I wasn’t sleeping and I could eat lettuce for lunch and gain 10 pounds by dinner. I had tried everything (on my own) to try to breakout of the downward spiral but nothing helped.
I found Jensen Fitness through a Google search, was encouraged by the amazing reviews and started an incredible journey to healing and feeling so much better.
Not only did I have an amazing trainer in Christine but I also also had the support of a registered dietitian. What a team, they have taught me so much about how to train and support that training with personalized meal plans.

I’m sleeping better, mostly due to Sophia kicking my butt each work out, but she also takes care of my injuries and limitations, and she finds ways to work around them safely without causing further injury. I would highly recommend Jensen if you are looking for work outs with great trainers and to have a complete nutrition component as an add on option also with Rachelle, the awesome dietitian.

I’m not sure whether to give Jensen a terrible review or an amazing one! I want to tell you all it’s terrible so we can keep the gym all to ourselves… BECAUSE ITS SO AWESOME!
Have you ever walked into a gym without any idea what to do? Or maybe you had a specific workout you wanted to try but the machines you need are all busy with other people?
We have… Jensen removed all that uncertainty for us. It’s amazing to show up and have a workout already selected for the day AND the only other people in the gym are being trained by the staff… No more mental energy spent on planning what to do or if you’re even doing it right!
(PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU’RE DOING IT RIGHT OR YOU’LL HURT YOURSELF!)
Our Story:
We started training here in March 2022 with Keana (who is also a Kenisiologist). Right from the start she’s been so professional and also personal. She’s been so great at helping us continually reach new workout goals and live the lifestyle we want to live so that when we get older we are still fit!
Each workout is tailer made for us as individuals based on our goals and bodies. Keana is great at setting up workouts that are enough routine to enjoy but different enough that your body doesn’t always do the same motions day in and day out.
When we started here my heaviest bench press was just around 150lb, I’m now over 200lb!
I’ve also swapped over 10lb of fat for muscle and feel great!
We definitely recommend you take the plunge and go with Jensen Fitness and Keana. We can’t say enough about them.

Never tried bouldering till today!
This place is super cool. Staff helped me and my dad with the waiver which took 2 minutes. We paid for a day pass + climbing shoes for each of us. We got changed in the bathroom which has a shower + changing section. A little tight but understandable. There are lockers inside too. I kept my wallet and any other valuables inside but not necessary, this place was really safe and proper. People leaving phones whenever and no one doing anything inappropriate.
The climbing was really fun. Super easy and chill to find a spot and go for it. The system involves taking turns while you are waiting/taking a break to recover. tons of nice and chill people all around to help with any questions. The back corner also has a small gym section for building your grip strength and finger strength. That was fun to see people doing all kinds of craziness in that corner.
I love this place and I will definitely be back.

Great gym! Good setting (a little soft imo), friendly staff, fine workout and seating areas. Resetting is frequent, and they seem to put on events quite frequently! They have a good variety of beverages and climbing products for sale as well.
A moonboard, and a good spray wall with community-set problems on the Stokt app put the cherry on top of this gym, making it one of the best in Calgary.
One critique: the bass level of their acoustic system is deafening.

I haven’t done many yoga classes before and I have never felt out of place at Breathe Hot Yoga. Such a welcoming atmosphere with amazing teachers and classes that I always look forward to! Walking out of class you feel rejuvenated and reset, it’s a great practice at the end of a long day. So far my favourite classes have been Foundations and Yang Yin as someone who is a bit newer to Yoga. I would recommend any of their locations to new or experienced Yogi’s!

You get access to all three locations, which is amazing — I rotate between Britannia and Avenida depending on my schedule, and both studios are wonderful. A little extra preference for Avenida for the harder flooring in the yoga room. The heat in the rooms is perfect — warm enough to get a great sweat but never overwhelming. Every teacher I’ve practiced with has been fantastic — knowledgeable, welcoming, and great at offering options for all levels. I decided to start CrossFit to improve my mental health, and from the very beginning, I was amazed by how supportive the CrossFit Sunalta team is. It’s truly a community where everyone encourages you to do your best and move your body. Whether you’re an expert or a beginner, whether you’re fit or just starting out, you’ll always receive support to complete the workout. After nearly 20 years of practicing hot yoga at various studios across Calgary, I can confidently say that Meta Hot Yoga is where I’ve finally settled — and that says a lot. I’ve always had an excellent experience at Connect Performance! The entire team is friendly, professional, and truly committed to patient care. I cannot recommend Connect enough! I started coming 6 months ago after having recurrent back injuries which were preventing me from exercising and even at times functioning day to day. I started with Jeff and Dr. Robinson and immediately started to have relief. I continued with Connect and am now doing group fitness training three times a week and it has been a game changer for me. I’ve learned so much about how to exercise and I’ve already seen improvements. I have not had another back injury since starting. Not only that, I went on a week long bike trip and have never felt better on my bike. Jeff has taught me how to train smarter. Could not recommend connect enough, I’ve been attending group fitness at connect 3x a week for the past 10 weeks & it’s honestly been a game-changer. The experience here has completely transformed my fitness journey in ways I didn’t expect both physically and mentally.
First, the group sizes are smaller than traditional gyms, which I absolutely love. It creates a more intimate and personalized atmosphere, and the sense of community is amazing. Everyone is so supportive, and it’s really motivating to train alongside people who encourage each other.
Jeff, my trainer, is incredible. He’s always there to guide me through the workouts, offering encouragement and making sure my form is on point. The workouts are genuinely tailored to each individual; we track the weights we use for specific exercises, and Jeff is great at modifying them if needed to suit personal needs.
The gym itself is beautiful—clean, well-maintained, and filled with new, cool equipment. Every workout feels unique and exciting, thanks to the variety of equipment and exercises Jeff incorporates into the routine. I’m never bored!
Nicole, who works evenings at the front desk, is the absolute sweetest and
is so welcoming when I’m coming in for a workout.
One last thing that stands out is how well-stocked the bathrooms are with all of my favorite Saje products, which is a small but thoughtful touch that really adds to the experience. Plus, there’s always plenty of parking, which makes getting in and out so easy.
All in all, this gym has truly changed my life. It’s not just a place to work out—it’s a place where I’ve found community, support, and real progress. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a more personalized and motivating gym experience!

I can’t recommend the Postnatal Foundations class at Connect Performance enough! I took it twice—first with Rachelle at 2 months postpartum, then again with Alex at 6 months—and both were amazing. The class helped me safely ease back into working out, taught me how to properly engage my pelvic floor while exercising, and gave me a chance to meet other moms. Plus, getting to bring my baby along made it so much easier. A huge bonus: the classes are covered by physio benefits. I’ve been a longtime Lagree fan and have attended almost 200 classes. Kim is an absolute gem of a human and the Lagree experience has been fantastic. This is consistently a challenging workout that supports my other athletic pursuits. The low impact nature of Lagree has been great when I have been dealing with minor injuries. Every instructor has been so welcoming and they make classes so fun. I also love that the focus is always on building strength, endurance, and flexibility and taught without emphasis on ‘bikini bodies’ or weight loss. Highly recommend!
